Abstract

The activity test of sunscreen lotion from the ethanolic extract of Artocarpus camansi leaves was carried out. The activity of sunscreen lotion as sun protecting factor (SPF) is ranging from 28.716 ± 0.1557 to 29.740 ± 0.1360, while the SPF of pure compound is 28.483 ± 0.1422. The type of lotion is water in oil (w/o) with viscosity and pH values in the range of 3057.1–5001.1 cP and 6.86–7.89, respectively. The viscosity and pH values obtained were following the standard SNI 16-4399-1996. The value of dispersion is in the range of 4.60–6.90 cm, while the value of adhesion is in the range of 14.55–25.03 s. The pure compound is thought to be γ-sitosterol by analysis of its molecular weight similarity and positive ion fragment m/z with a melting point of 147 °C. From the molecular docking, it is known that γ-sitosterol has the highest binding affinity value of −7.4 and −8.2 kcal/mol to human neutrophile collagenase (PDB ID: 1BZS) and fibroblast collagenase-1 (PDB ID: 966C), respectively. The presence of active compounds in the ethanolic extract of A. camansi lotion can support the activity of the SPF so that it can be used as a sunscreen formula.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the antibacterial activity of Azadirachta indica flower essential oil and its liquid soap formulation against P. acnes bacteria and to determine the quality of the liquid soap formulation. The essential oil of A. indica flower was obtained by the enfleuration method, the yield was a concentrated yellow essential oil with a yield of 2.151%, a density of 0.892 g/mL, solubility in ethanol 90%, 1:1, clear; and a refractive index of 1.435 which complies with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI). Furthermore, essential oils are formulated into liquid soap preparations and tested for physical quality and antibacterial activity. The liquid soap formulation had a distinctive odor of A. indica flowers, and homogen. The antibacterial activity against P. acnes bacteria, was the inhibitory value of A. indica flower liquid soap was higher than A. indica flower essential oil with the highest liquid soap inhibition power of 52%, while the inhibitory power of essential oil was 51% with each concentration of 2.5%, which was compared to its positive control, namely chloramphenicol. The quality testing of liquid soap is accordance with SNI 06-4085-1996, pH values ranging from 8.48 9.67 meet SNI (8-11), viscosity values ranging from 1504.4 cP 2369.7 cP meet SNI (400-4000 cPs), and foam height values ranging from 7.1 cm 8.3 cm. The results of the GC MS analysis of A. indica essential oil showed that the dominant compound was -Copaene (15.84%).

Abstract

Abstract: The making of perfume from the combination Magnolia alba (M. alba) flower oil, Cananga odorata (C. odorata) and Mimusops elengi L (M. elengi) fixed with Pogostemon cablin oil (P. cablin) have been done. Essential oil of M. alba and C. odorata was distilled by water distillation and extraction essential oil of M. elengi flower using n-hexane evaporated solvent method. Composition perfume through organoleptic test obtained with a ratio of 4% v/v, 4% v/v, and 2% v/v for each essential oil M. alba, C. odorata and M. elengi. Antibacterial activity of the perfume and each of the volatile oil was performed by the disc diffusion method. Antibacterial activity test showed that perfumes were able to inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) bacteria, but less active. Antibacterial activity of the perfume was more active against E. coli with an inhibitory zone of 8.3 mm and 39.81% inhibitory power than S. aureus bacterial 7.3 mm inhibition zone with 37.55% inhibitory power. Perfumes after storage for one, and two months had better antibacterial activity than before storage with an average inhibitory zone of 11-15 mm and inhibitory power of 50- 68,18%. Keywords: Antibacterial, E. Coli, C. Odorata, M. alba, M. elengi, P. cablin, , S. aureus

Abstract

Teacher performance is critical to improve learning quality in primary schools, but empirical research shows that many teachers continue to struggle with effective lesson planning, implementation, and assessment. This study investigates how coaching-based academic supervision provided by school leaders increases teacher performance via a reflective, dialogical, and collaborative developing process. Data were obtained using a qualitative descriptive technique, with in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation from principals, teachers, and supervisors at SD Negeri Paya Bedi and SD Negeri Pahlawan in Aceh Tamiang Regency. Data analysis included data reduction, data visualization, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that coaching supervision effectively assists teachers in (1) formulating clear, measurable, and contextual performance goals; (2) identifying strengths, weaknesses, and constraints in real instructional practices; (3) designing realistic instructional improvement strategies; and (4) developing strong commitment to implementing agreed-upon action plans through continuous monitoring. The coaching approach improves pedagogical and professional competencies by promoting teachers as active participants in professional development. This study shows that coaching-based academic supervision increases teacher ownership, reflective capacity, and motivation to sustainably enhance performance in elementary school settings.
