Abstract

This research paper frames the failure of contention against Islamic CriminalLaw (Qanun Jinayat) in Aceh as a strategic problem. In this research, the authors combine literature research and field observation in BandaAceh. Amidst the debate between the universalist and particularist pointof view regarding human right issues, local NGOs fighting against QanunJinayat have linked themselves with INGOs in a network of activists whichKeck and Sikkink (1998) refers to as Transnational Advocacy Network(TAN). It has undertaken multiple approaches aligned to the four typesof strategies as underlined by Keck and Sikkink (1998). However, suchstrategies are ineffective due to multiple features of the advocacy such ascomplexity of Indonesian law, difference in final objective of the elementsof TAN, and lack of strong representative figure as the front of the advocacy. In all, it can be concluded that although the pattern of transnationaladvocacy has emerged in Aceh, presence of such transnational networkhas not successfully advocated against the legalization of Qanun Jinayat.

Abstract

The increase in bullying cases in recent years seems to indicate that the problem of bullying has not yet been resolved. In Indonesia, bullying is still a major problem that has not been resolved properly. Bullying, also known as bullying, is a person's behavior that is carried out deliberately and consciously by individuals or groups to other people with the aim of threatening, hurting and suppressing victims and is carried out repeatedly. Bullying can occur in the form of physical, non-physical, verbal, non-verbal, and through the realm of cyberspace. Bullying can also occur anywhere and by anyone, especially by children and adolescents in the school environment. Therefore, bullying prevention in the school environment needs to be done, one of which is through bullying education itself. With bullying education, students in schools are expected to understand bullying as a whole. The results of the education show that students not only understand bullying as a whole but also grow self-awareness from students to not want to commit acts of bullying in any form.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out on 21 September 2024 at Banksasuci (Bank Sampah Sungai Cisadane), Cihuni, Gading Serpong, Tangerang Regency, as part of the SOUL PROJECT (Save Our Earth With Law) organized by the Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Law, UPN Veteran Jakarta. The program focused on urban planning and water management in relation to the impact of development on Cisadane River water quality. The Cisadane River is one of the most vital water sources in Banten Province, supplying raw water for PDAM, agriculture, fisheries, and industry. However, rapid urbanization—marked by dense residential sprawl and industrial expansion—has caused a significant and sustained decline in river water quality. Research shows that COD and BOD concentrations in the Cisadane River trended upward continuously from 2005 to 2012, driven by industrial effluents concentrated in Jatiuwung and domestic wastewater from slum settlements. Institutional management of the river remains fragmented across multiple agencies at city, provincial, and national levels with weak coordination. This activity engaged approximately 50 participants through legal education sessions, participatory field discussions, river cleaning, and tree-planting activities. Results indicate a significant increase in participant awareness of the link between spatial planning, infrastructure development, and river water quality. This program recommends integrated spatial governance and community-based monitoring as key strategies for protecting the Cisadane River ecosystem.
