Abstract

The problem in this research is the ability of narrating interview text class VII SMPN SatuAtap1 2011/2012. Research aimed to describe the level of students ability in narrating interview text. This research uses descriptive design. Population was all students of class VII SMPN SatuAtap1 2011/2012 amounted to 53 students. Samples were taken by systematic sampling technique, ie students with odd numbers. Thus, the sample were 27 students. Data were collected through a written narrative test based on the interviews text. Aspects assessed were coherence, cohessive, completeness interview information, changing direct and indirect sentences, spelling usage, and diction. The results are as follows. In cohessive aspects, the score of students ability is 89.62 included in excellent, coherence aspects the score is 84.44 uncategorized good, completeness interviews aspects (60), changing direct and indirect sentences (70), as well diction (66.29) each qualified enough. Finally, spelling usage aspects, the score is 20.37 included in fail. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the ability of narrating interview text class VII SMPN SatuAtap1 quite enough with an average score is 65.04.Keywords: ability, narrative, assessment aspects
