Abstract

Mangrove Vegetation occupy the area between land and sea that have environmental conditions differ from one another. The purpose of this study is to know about the structure and composition of mangrove vegetation in Jemaja Island, Kepulauan Anambas Regency, Riau Islands Province, and Liran Island, South-East Moluccas Regency, Moluccas Province. Vegetation data taking based on purposive sampling method and every transect made sampling plot. Each tree (plot 10 m x 10 m) and sapling (subplot 5 m x 5 m) identified and measured on diameter at breast height (± 1.3 m). Seedling calculated the amount of each species and the percentage of cover on subplot 1 m x 1 m. The result of research in Jemaja Island was found 17 mangrove species. Tree mangrove in Jemaja Island have the range of density 375 ind/ha – 950 ind/ha were dominated by Rhizophora apiculata (Importance Index 89,73% - 123,42%). The result of research in Liran Island was found 19 mangrove species. Tree mangrove in Liran Island have the range of density 500 ind/ha – 566 ind/ha were dominated by Sonneratia alba with range of Importance Index 135,90% - 160,32%. The Index of Diversity (H’) and Eveness (J’) of mangrove vegetation in Jemaja Island, District of Anambas Islands and Liran Island, District of South-East Moluccas, were in low category.

Abstract

Komunitas mangrove menempati area diantara darat dan laut yang memiliki kondisi lingkungan berbeda satu sama lain. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengkaji struktur dan komposisi vegetasi mangrove di Tracking Mangrove Kemujan Kepulauan Karimunjawa. Penelitian di Tracking Mangrove Kemujan dilakukan di 8 stasiun yang dibagi menjadi 3 lokasi, yaitu Lokasi 1 dekat daratan (Stasiun 1 dan Stasiun 8), Lokasi 2 daerah peralihan (Stasiun 2, Stasiun 3, Stasiun 6 dan Stasiun 7)  dan Lokasi 3 dekat laut (Stasiun 4 dan Stasiun 5).Pengambilan data vegetasi dilakukan dengan metode purposive sampling dan setiap stasiun dibuat plot sampling. Setiap individu pohon (plot 10 m x 10 m) dan anakan (subplot 5 m x 5 m) diidentifikasi dan diukur diameternya setinggi dada (±1,3 m). Sementara semai dihitung jumlah masing-masing spesies dan persentase penutupannya (subplot 1 m x 1 m). Hasil penelitian di Tracking Mangrove Kemujan ditemukan 17 jenis mangrove.Secara umum vegetasi pohon mangrove di lokasi penelitian memiliki rata – rata kerapatan 2127 ind/ha yang didominansi Ceriops tagal. Kategori anakan memiliki rata – rata kerapatan 4499 ind/ha, dimana jenis Ceriops tagal mendominansi pada Stasiun 2, 3, 6, 7 dan 8, jenis Lumnitzera racemosa mendominansi pada Stasiun 1, jenis Rhizophora mucronata mendominansi pada Stasiun 4, dan jenis Rhizophora apiculata mendominansi Stasiun 5. Kategori semai, memiliki rata – rata kerapatan 128.333 ind/ha, dimana pada hampir semua stasiun didominansi oleh jenis Ceriops tagal, yang meliputi Stasiun 1, 2, 3, 7 dan 8, sedangkan pada Stasiun 4, 5 dan 6 didominansi oleh jenis Rhizophora stylosa dan Rhizophora apiculata. Indeks Keanekaragaman (H’) dan Keseragaman (J’) mangrove di Tracking Mangrove Kemujan Kepulauan Karimunjawa, termasuk dalam kategori rendah

Abstract

Kappaphycus alvarezii is one of seaweed species widely cultivated for producing high economic value carrageenan as raw material for pharmaceutical, cosmetic, food, etc.. During the cultivation of this seaweed there are some constrains found that is by fish herbivory by rabbitfish (Siganus sp.). One of factors thought to affect fish herbivory rabbitfish on seaweed is the salinity. Therefore, there is a need to conduct observation on Siganus sp. Herbivory at different levels of salinity. This research used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments with 3 replications, namely were the treatment A (salinity 28 ppt), treatment B (30 ppt salinity), treatment C (salinity 32 ppt), treatment D (34 ppt salinity), and treatment E (salinity 36 ppt). Data were analyzed statistically with one-way ANOVA using SPSS software. The results showed that the salinity treatment gave a very significant influence (P <0.01) of seaweed herbivory K. alvarezii by rabbitfish. The results of this study were showed that the total weight of seaweed eaten by rabbitfish during the maintenance period of 30 days were: treatment A = (149.19 g), treatment B = (191.17 g), treatment C = (298.12 g), treatment of D = (212.87 g) and treatment E = (89.15 g). Body weight of fish at the end of the study were: treatment A (33.93 ± 6.35 g), treatment B (34.51 ± 4.34 g), treatment C (49.79 ± 5.67 g), treatment D (33.44 ± 14.12 g) treatment E (32.44 ± 2.72 g).

Abstract

Economi valuation is an instrument used to know a function of mangrove forest. The object of this research are to find out totalized economic valuation by means of direct valuation at mangrove area Pasar Banggi village, Rembang. Economic valuation can be able by totalized a direct use value, indirect use value, Option value and Existence value. Identification result at Pasar Banggi village are consist by four components there are, direct use values : Bandeng fishponds, saltponds, mangrove seeds, catching fishes, oyster and crab, indirect use values : breakwater as a resists of abration, option value : biodiversity, Existence value : habitats. The biggest value in this research is the resist of abration assumption as breakwater that is as bis as Rp.18.717.774.250-/year and total economic value from economis Pasar Banggi village, Rembang that is as big as Rp.19.610.846.229.-/year.
