Abstract

ABSTRACT Hallucinations are a common symptom experienced by social care residents with psychotic disorders. Uncontrolled hallucinations increase the risk of clients committing violent behavior towards themselves or others. This study aims to determine the effect of Group Activity Therapy (GAT) on the signs and ability to control hallucinations. The research method used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest with a control group. The study was conducted at the Harapan Sentosa 2 Cipayung Social Welfare Home (PSBL HS 2), which treats psychotic clients, from June to July 2024. The population was social care residents who met the inclusion criteria. The sample was selected using a purposive sampling technique with a sample size of 77 respondents. A questionnaire was used to measure the signs and ability of respondents to control hallucinations. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate tests. The results of the bivariate test showed that GAT had an effect on reducing signs and symptoms of hallucinations by 48.2% and increasing the ability to control hallucinations by 68.2%. Analysis of the differences between the intervention and control groups showed significant changes in symptoms and control abilities in the intervention group (p-value 0.05) compared to the control group that was not given TAK. The conclusion of this study is that TAK has an effect on symptoms and control abilities of hallucinations. TAK is expected to be a group therapy provided to psychotic clients experiencing hallucinations. Keywords: Hallucinations, Group Activity Therapy.

Abstract

Eating behavior encompasses both healthy and unhealthy eating habits (eating disorders) aimed at meeting the body’s nutritional needs through macronutrients and micronutrients. The risk of developing an eating disorder can arise due to physical changes during puberty, cultural factors, social, economic, and nutritional awareness. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between high school girls’ body dissatisfaction and their likelihood of engaging in eating disorder behaviors. The BSQ-16A and EAT-26 instruments were used in a quantitative cross-sectional study conducted at Santo Leo II High School from November 18 to November 28, 2024, using Google Forms and obtaining informed consent from 84 participants. Chi-square statistical analysis was then applied to the collected data. According to the findings, 79.8% of participants were not at risk of developing an eating disorder, and 34.5% were not concerned about their body shape. There was a significant correlation between body dissatisfaction and the risk of eating disorder behaviors among high school girls, according to statistical analysis using the chi-square test, with a p-value <0.001. Our study found that among high school girls, body dissatisfaction was significantly correlated with the risk of eating disorder behaviors.
