Abstract

Platinum Group Element (PGE) merupakan logam transisi dengan kelimpahan sangat rendah yang terdiri dari platina (Pt), paladium (Pd), rodium (Rh), osmium (Os), dan rutenium (Ru). Selain terkait dengan sulfida, kelompok logam ini bersifat siderofil (mudah larut dalam besi) dan kalkofil (mudah bercampur dengan belerang). Proses pelapukan batuan menghasilkan beberapa lapisan sejajar permukaan tanah namun dengan kenampakan megaskopis berbeda dan disebut sebagai horizon. Studi mengenai PGE cukup banyak dilaksanakan pada wilayah batuan ultramafik dan lapukannya. Tingkat pelapukan dapat dihitung menggunakan beberapa formula berdasarkan komposisi geokimianya. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perubahan kadar Pt dan Pd pada pelapukan batuan ultramafik Andowia dan Asera yang merupakan bagian dari Kabupaten Konawe Utara. Chemical index of alteration (CIA) dan chemical index of alteration without potash (CIA-K) adalah dua jenis indeks pelapukan berbasis geokimia yang dikalkulasi untuk mengetahui korelasinya terhadap komposisi PGE masing-masing horizon. Pengukuran Pt dan Pd dilaksanakan menggunakan perangkat ICP-MS setelah tahap prakonsentrasi dengan teknik uji kadar logam (fire assay). Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa Pt dan Pd tertinggi terdapat pada horizon yang berada tepat di bawah lapisan tanah bagian atas (top soil) yang diduga terkait dengan komposisi Fe dan S pada setiap horizon di kedua profil studi. Indeks CIA dan CIA-K di sini sangat mirip akibat kandungan oksida kalium yang sangat rendah pada setiap percontoh. Indeks pelapukan berbanding lurus dengan kelimpahan Pt dan Pd pada setiap profil dengan korelasi sangat kuat. Perubahan CIA dan CIA-K yang drastis pada salah satu horizon di Asera menunjukkan bahwa pelapukan di sini ini telah terganggu oleh endapan lepas dari tempat lain. Pada sisi lain, pelapukan berjalan normal di Andowia berdasarkan pada kenaikan teratur CIA dan CIA-K dari horizon paling bawah menuju ke atas.

Abstract

Zircon and apatite fission track analysis has been employed to constrain a cooling episode of the Oligocene-Miocene granitic sequences in the Palu region, Middle Sulawesi. A fission track dating from five outcrops resulted in zircon ages ranging between 9.5±0.5 Ma and 29.5±2.1 Ma. These ages may represent the onset of crystallisation during magmatic emplacement. This interpretation is consistent with the corresponding K/Ar ages ranging between 8.6 Ma for biotite and 31 Ma for feldspar. All but one sample show apatite fission track ages younger than zircon ages. The apatite fission track ages range between 6.2±1.3 Ma and 29.3±2.5 Ma. Importantly, the oldest zircon and apatite crystals separated from the rock sample derived from pluton in the southern section suggest that the host sequence has not undergone a further cooling event since crystallisation in the Oligocene. However, the remaining apatite fission track ages from rock successions in the northern sector of the studied region reveal an episode of post-crystallisation rapid cooling of the Oligocene granitic pluton, possibly due to local-scale uplift in response to overthrust in the late Miocene.Keywords: cooling, fission track, granitic pluton, Sulawesi

Abstract

Volcanic and intrusive rocks from Pacitan area cropping out as lavas, dykes and stockworks, consist of basaltic - andesite to rhyolite in composition. Based on petrologic and geochemical analyses, the volcanic rocks consist of SiO2 55.79 – 72.19%, TiO2 0.07- 0.54%, Al2O3 15.43 – 19.46%, MgO 1.38 – 5.09. While trace element contents, especially Sr 78.25 – 845 ppm, Y 36.31 – 11.15 ppm, Yb 1.05 – 2.58 ppm dan Sr/Y 4.41 – 41.40 ppm. Discriminant diagram of SiO2 vs K2O Pacitan volcanic rocks are including the rocks into tholeiitic low – K series. Therefore in trace element spider diagrams show that the rocks are an island arc affinity except one sample relating with OIB. Several samples of Pacitan volcanics are adakitic like which have high Sr and low Y, Yb content.Key words: petrology, geochemistry, adakitic rocks, Pacitan

Abstract

Geology of Malinau region in east Kalimantan is very little known because of its difficulties in accessibility. The aim of this study is to present petrology and geochemical data of the Tertiary Jelai Volcanic rocks and its tectonic implications. Nine samples have been analysed using XRF (major elements) and ICP-MS (trace and rare earth elements) methods and three samples were examined for absolute age dating using a K-Ar method. The Tertiary Jelai volcanic rocks in Malinau area are dykes and lavas having basalt-andesite-dacite in composition . Based on petrology and geochemistry data, the Jelai Volcanic rocks are medium medium calc-alkaline to tholeiitic series. Depletion of Nb and Ti indicates an island arc affinity. Absolute age dating using potassium-argon method for three rock samples yielded ages that vary from 16.13 ± 2.67 to 14.72 ± 0.90 m.a. or Neogene-Miocene-Burdigalian to Neogene-Miocene-Langhian. It can be concluded that the existence of Jelai volcanic rock is strongly related to subduction of the Palawan Oceanic Plate beneath East Kalimantan during the Middle Miocene soon after subduction of the South Chine Sea Plate ceased which is formed the Sintang Intrusives during the Oligo-Miocene time.Keywords: Tertiary Jelai volcanic rocks, petrology, geochemistry and tectonic

Abstract

The Embaluh-Rajang Group in Bhayangkara region had suffered polyphase deformation. Regional fold shown in Landsat Imagery exhibit at least three periodes of deformation on the study area. The first deformation D1 main principal stress (s11) was directed relatively to east-west and resulted regional folds on the north-south direction. The second deformation D2 main principal stress (s12) was directed relatively to northwest-southeast and formed northeast-southwest trending regional folds. The third deformation D3 main principal stress (s13) was directed relatively to east northeast-west southwest and resulted local folds on the north northwest-south southeast trending direction. Faults occurred in study area could be classified into six main groups. They are fault group of A (north-south), B (north northeast-south southwest), C (northeast-southwest) and D (southeast-northwest), E (south southeast-north northwest).Keywords : polydeformation, fold, fault, regional structure

Abstract

Intrusi granitoid berumur Trias di Pulau Bintan termasuk dalam kelompok The Main Range Granite Province of South East Asia. Satuan granitoid tersebut tersebar hingga melebihi 30% dari seluruh satuan batuan di Pulau Bintan. Secara megaskopik, beberapa warna granotoid yang berbeda dijumpai di daerah ini. Kawasan Lagoi, yang berada di pantai utara Bintan, memiliki granitoid dengan ciri spesifik yakni berwarna merah muda (pinkish). Kandungan unsur tanah jarang dalam pinkish granitoid ini cukup tinggi, berkisar antara 170 – 1.015 ppm dengan rata-rata 295 ppm. Nilai unsur tanah jarang ini diplot dalam Spider Diagram untuk dibandingkan dengan intrusi granitoid berwarna sama di daerah lain. Di samping itu, nilai unsur tanah jarang di sini dapat menjadi data nasional. Anomali Eu negatif terdeteksi dalam contoh pinkish granitoid yang menunjukkan bahwa fraksinasi mineral plagioklas terjadi dalam batuan.Kata Kunci: geokimia, Lagoi, pinkish granitoid, unsur tanah jarang.

Abstract

Volcanic rocks which crop out at Long Bia area, east Kalimantan, consist of basaltic andesite to rhyolite in composition. They are in the form of lava, dykes, and pyroclastics. Stratigraphically, the  rocks belong the Tertiary Quaternary Metulang Volcanics. Petrographically, the rocks have porphyritic texture with plagioclase, feldspar, and pyroxene phenocrysts that are embedded within a groundmass.  Geochemical characteristic of major elements compose of  SiO2 (52,8 - 62,5 wt.%), TiO2 (0,57- 0,75wt.%), Al2O2  (15.4- 8,6 wt.%), CaO (5,4-9,4 wt. %) dan MgO (3,21-7,89 wt.%) with  depletion on trace elements (Nb, Zr, and Y). In contrast, light rare earth elements (La, Ce, and Nd) and large ion lithophile elements (Ba, Rb. K, and Sr) exhibit enrichment. Characteristics of petrology and geochemistry of the Metulang Long Bia Volcanics indicate that they were formed In an island arc environment and it is interpreted to be related to the Borneo-Palawan subduction activity during the  Tertiary-Quaternary time. Keywords : Petrology, geochemistry, Metulang Long Bia, tectonics

Abstract

Peso Area is situated at the downstream of Kayan River, East Kalimantan. The area is generally occupied by a flysch-type deposit of Cretaceous Rajang-Embaluh Group. The unit is unconformably overlain by the Tertiary Sediments and is intruded by the Tertiary-Quaternary magmatics. Based on interpretation of landsat imagery, lineament features which represent faults can be traced outside the studied area. Based on landsat imagery data and result of joints, fault and fold analyses, it can be concluded that the zig-zag pattern of the Kayan River at Peso area is closely related to major faults movements.
