TETUN LANGUAGE MAINTENANCE IN EAST TIMOR FORMER REFUGEE COMMUNITY Agnes Maria Diana Rafael

Abstract

This study was conducted with the aims of: (1) describing the use of Tetun Language in East Timor former refugees community Manusak village and (2) describing the factors of Tetun Languages maintenance in Manuasak village. This research uses the sociolinguistic approach, the method used is descriptive qualitative method. The results of the study show that: (1) Tetun is still survives so far as it has migrated for 20 years from its native land. Of the 132 informants interviewed, 86.36% of informants used Tetun Language as a lingua franca with different age categories. For partner selection, 71.21% of informants use Tetun Language when communicating with family members and neighbors. Then 58% of informants use Tetun Language when communicating with family members, neighbors, and coworkers, while 21.21% of informants use the language when communicatin with family members, closest neighbors and game friends. The topics chosen were: (1) 59.09% of informants chose topic about daily life activities, 9.1% chose topics about daily life and some topics that are related to work, 14.4% of informants chose topics about daily life, economic topics, political topics, religious topics, and work topics, 6.81% of informants chose topics about daily life, topics about education, economic topics, political topics, topics about religion, and topics about work, and 10 , 60% of informants chose topics about daily life, topics about education, religious topics and work topics. For the domains of using Tetun Language, then Tetun Language is used in the family domain, neighborhood and at the workplace. Next are the factors caused the maintenance of Tetun Language: loyalty to mother tongue, pride in using Tetun Language , family supporting environment and regional conservation.

Abstract

Tujuan dalam kegiatan ini yakni memberikan bekal kepada siswa untuk berkreatif dengan membuat media belajar yang dapat dimanfaatkan dalam kegiatan belajar di kelas. Selain itu juga membrikan motivasi bagi guru untuk bagaimana membuat media pembelajaran dari alat dan bahan yang sederhana, mudah dan terjangkau. Sehingga membantu memudahkan siswa dalam memahami materi dan meningkatkan kreativitas siswa untuk membuat sebuah hasil karya. Kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode ceramah, diskusi, dan demonstrasi. Kegiatan berjalan dengan baik dengan hasil yang baik pula. Hal ini terlihat dari siswa yang sangat antusias membuat media pembelajaran dan memperagakannya di depan kelas. Begitupun dengan guru kelas V yang mendampingi dan memotivasi siswanya.

Abstract

AbstrakKegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarkat ini dilakukan selama 2 minggu. Tujuan pelaksanaan kegiatan PKM untuk mengajar dan membimbing anak anak usia sekolah dasar (SD) yang ada di Panti Asuhan Katolik Sonaf Maneka. Proses pembelajaran mengajarkan materi-materi dasar yang didapat oleh anak di sekolah. Materi dasar tersebut terbagi pada kelompok kelas Rendah dan kelompok Kelas Tinggi. Selain itu anak-anak dibagi dalam kelompok kecil dan dibimbing intensif oleh pelaksana dengan menggunakan media pembelajaran. Hasil yang diperoleh dari kegiatan ini yaitu anak lebih aktif, interaktif dan antusias belajar berkelompok maupun secara mandiri. Media interaktif yang digunakan oleh pelaksana awalnya dianalisis sesuai kebutuhan, dirancang dan diterapkan sehingga menghasilkan hasil sesuai dengan harapan. AbstractThis Community Service activity was carried out for 2 weeks. The purpose of implementing PKM activities is to teach and guide elementary school-aged children at the Sonaf Maneka Catholic Orphanage. The learning process teaches the basic materials that children get at school. The basic material is divided into Low class groups and High Class groups. In addition, the children were divided into small groups and guided intensively by the implementers using learning media. The results obtained from this activity are that children are more active, interactive and enthusiastic about learning in groups and independently. Interactive media used by executors are initially analyzed according to needs, designed and implemented so as to produce results as expected.
