Abstract

This study examines Tafsir At-Tanwir, the official Qur'anic commentary of Muhammadiyah, as a form of interpretation grounded in the contemporary social realities of Indonesia. Using a descriptive-critical approach with thematic categorization, the research reveals that its anti-corruption discourse is constructed through three main perspectives: as a deviation from the principle of tawhid (divine unity), as a failure to integrate worship with social ethics, and as a consequence of neglecting Islamic values in leadership and wealth management. The analysis demonstrates that rather than adopting a neutral stance, the commentary explicitly positions itself as part of Muhammadiyah's ideological da'wah strategy to realize an ideal Islamic society. Thus, Tafsir At-Tanwir is not merely an explanatory text of sacred verses but also a powerful tool for social transformation.

This study uses a data source in the form of library data. The type of research viewed from the perspective of implementation in this research is descriptive research. Researchers attempt to describe the object of study studied in depth. The main question to be answered in this study is: how many verses are interpreted in a scientific approach in the Al-Qur’an dan Tafsirnya (Edisi Yang Disempurnakan Tahun 2011) from juz 6 to juz 10?, and what is the background for the drafting team to pay more attention to interpretation scientific in it? The findings of this study indicate that in juz 6 to 10, there are 9 verses that are interpreted using a scientific approach. Interpretation with a scientific approach was carried out by a drafting team appointed by the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia because they considered that society needed a new perspective in interpretation, a scientific approach. Abstract

This article attempts to trace the contiguity of the substance of the sharia revealed to Musa in the Quran by tracing the terminology of the Torah and Ṣuḥuf on exegetical sources. The article will track the intersection of the classical and contemporary exegetical sources that use the jurisprudence approach as a lens in interpreting the Quran. This research is qualitative in nature, and the method used is descriptive-analytical. As a result, at least based on exegetical literature, there is a specific intersection between the sharia brought by Musa and the sharia brought by Muhammad in the Quran. The intersection lies, for example, in legal aspects such as qiṣāṣ, diyāt and rajam. However, there are different views on addressing this contiguity. One view is that the contiguity does not mean anything because the previous sharia has been abolished by the revelation of the Quran. Another view states that the Quran is a conclusive-confirmative revelation and does not abolish previous sharia.

Abstract

This article reviews the conception of interpretation deviation according to Ḥusayn al-Dhahabī. According to him, many interpreters have certain motives for making deviations in interpreting the Qur’an. Broadly speaking, al-Dhahabī conceptualizes mis-interpretation into two things. First, the interpreters who tend to overtake Isrāiliyāt history excessively, this occurs in the tafsir bi al-ma’thūr. Second, interpreters who interpret verses with incorrect meanings, this happens in tafsir bi al-ra’yi. This second deviation is often done by mufasirs who have certain mazhab background and Sufis due to their use metaphorical language. The findings of this article are, al-Dhahabī considers that there are some deviations in the interpretation of the Quran in the book of al-Kashfu wa al-Bayān an Tafsīr al-Qur’ān by Abū Isḥāq Aḥmad ibn Ibrāhīm al-Tha’labī al-Naisaburī and al-Kashshāf ‘An Ḥaqā’iq Ghamāmi al-Tanzīl wa ‘Uyūn al-Aqawīl fī Wujūh al-Ta’wīl by Abū al-Qasīm Maḥmūd ibn ‘Umar Ibn Muḥammad Ibn ‘Umar al-Zamakhsharī. Some interpretations of al-Tha’labī are considered to be distorted due to a number of quotes from the history of Isrāiliyāt. On the other hand, some interpretations of al-Zamakhsharī are considered to be distorted because they distort the meaning and bias of the mazhab.

Abstract

The main concern of the author in this study is to examine the word khabīth which is found in various verses in the Qur’an. In studying the word, the author uses syntagmatic and paradigmatic analysis contained in the semantic theory by Toshihiko Izutsu. This research uses the type of library research. The type of research in terms of the implementation perspective in this research is descriptive research. This is an attempt to describe the object of study that is studied in depth. The main question to be answered in this research is how is the world view of the Qur’an towards the word Khabīth from a semantic perspective? The findings in this study indicate that the word Khabīth has the basic meaning of an evil. But based on syntagmatic and paradigmatic analysis, these basic meanings become various meanings, each of which has a relationship or relation. Another finding in this study is that the meaning of the word Khabīth has “shifted without losing basic meaning” since pre-Islam and after the revelation of Qur’an.
