Abstract

AbstractBackground : Undernutrition was still a problem of public health in Indonesia. Prevalence of undernutrition in under five years old based weight for age is 17.9 %. Undernutrition in children usually happened acute and cronic deficiency of macronutrient and have effect micronutrient deficiency. Iron deficiency anemia is one of micronutrient deficiency that common problems in under five children. Prevalence of iron deficiency anemia is 27.5 %. This prevalence is very high.  This research wants to know about correlation z score weigh for age and iron intake with ferritin level in children 2-5 year old. Objective : Objective of this research was to know correlation about z score weight for age and iron intake with ferritin level in children 2-5 year old.Method : The research method used in this study was cross-sectional study. Z score weight for age was measured by using antropometry. Iron intake was measured by using 24-hour food recall method and ferritin level was maesured by using ellysa method. The data was analyzed by multiple linier regression. Result : Iron intake had contribution to ferritin level about 1.747 µg/L with p value 0.007. Z score weight for age had no contribution to ferritin level in children 2-5 year old with p value 0.972  Conclution : Iron intake had contribution of ferritin level and z score weight for age had no contribution with ferritin level.  Keyword : Zat Besi, feritin, undernutrition

Abstract

BACKGROUND : Hospitalized patients are at risk for malnutrition. Decreased BMI (Body Mass Index) in stroke patients is negatively correlated with patient outcomes. Studies on differences in BMI and NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) at admission and discharge in stroke patients have not been conducted in Indonesia. OBJECTIVE: To describe the difference between BMI and NIHSS at admission and discharge in ischemic stroke patients at Dr. Kariadi hospital METHOD : An observational study on 49 hospitalized ischemic stroke patients at the Stroke Unit of dr. Kariadi hospital. Outcomes were measured using the National Institutes of Stroke Scale (NIHSS). Data was collected from the patient's medical record and analyzed using Paired Sample t Test. RESULT : There was no significant difference between BMI at admission and discharge (p = 0.161). There was a significant difference between the NIHSS at the time of admission and at the time of discharge (p= 0.014). CONCLUSION : There is no significant difference between BMI at admission and discharge. There is functional improvement in ischemic stroke patients during treatment

Abstract

BACKGROUND : Previous studies reported that visceral fat plays an important role in cardiovascular disease, even in non-obese individuals. Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) is a non-invasive and radiation-free method for assessing visceral fat. Not much is known whether visceral fat correlates with lipid profile in myocardial infarction (MI) patients in Indonesian population. PURPOSE : To analyze the correlation between visceral fat and serum lipid profile in MI patients. METHODE : This is a correlational study on 32 MI patients hospitalized at the ICCU of RSUP Dr. Kariadi Hospital recruited with consecutive sampling. Visceral fat was measured by BIA SECA mBCA 525 series, data regarding levels of total cholesterol, triglycerides, low density lipoprotein (LDL), and high density lipoprotein (HDL) were gathered from medical record. The data were normally distributed, then the hypothesis was tested with the Pearson. RESULT : The mean age of the subjects was 55 ± 9.88 years, with 87.5% being male. As many as 81.3% of subjects experienced ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). The average body mass index (BMI) was 26.2 ± 3.68 kg/m², in which 40.6% of subjects were classified as grade 1 obesity. The majority of subjects (93.8%) had high visceral fat. As many as 68.8% of subjects had high LDL levels with an average of 120.5 ± 38.84 mg/dL. HDL average was 35±13.55 mg/dL with 62.5% of subjects having low HDL levels. More than half of the subjects (56.3%) experienced hypertriglyceridemia with an average of 157.4 ± 55.84 mg/dL. Visceral fat was significantly related to total cholesterol and triglycerides (r=0.40; p=0.02 and r=0.36; p=0.04). CONCLUSION : There is a significant correlation between visceral fat and total cholesterol and triglycerides in MI patients.
