Abstract

Kata kunci: Broiler, Herbal, Jamu, Pencegahan, Penyakit ABSTRACT Handling of animal diseases using synthetic drugs in the long term can use residues and affect product quality. The service aims to increase the knowledge and skills of members of the farmer group "Veto Mone and Kutulak" in preventing disease through the application of an environmentally friendly broiler chicken maintenance system and making herbal medicine sourced from herbal plants. The methods used in community service activities include counseling, demonstration plots, and mentoring. The results obtained from the community service activities include: 1) environmentally friendly broiler chickens maintenance guidelines of 8 copies, and 2) fermented herbal medicine as much as 5 liters. The service has given a positive impact on the farmers especially in knowing the technique of making an application of herbal medicine in the maintenance of broiler chickens. Abstract

Chromolaena odorata (kirinyu/sufmuti) is a species of weed which utilized as traditional medicine especially for wound healing. This research was conducted to study the histological effect of C.odorata leaf extract to healing process of incision wound in Sprague-Dawley rats. A total of 45 males - 6 weeks of Sprague Dawley rats at 150-200g body weight were utilized in this study. Those rats were divided into five groups, basis ointment, Betadine 10%, C.odorata 5%, C.odorata 10%, and C.odorata 20%. All groups of rats were given a 3 cm long linear incision at dermal depth on the backs. The extract and medication were topically applied once a day for ten days. 3 rats of each group were euthanized in day 2, 6, and 10 after incision. Subsequently, skin tissue was obtained and fixated in 10% buffer formalin for Hematocixylin - Eosin staining. The measured variables were wound healing both macroscopical and microscopical figures from day 0 to day 10 after incision. Data were analyzed descriptively. Microscopic observation showed that various concentrations of C.odorata extracts affected wound healing process. C.odorata Extract is allegedly able to stimulate wound healing by increasing fibroblasts for re-epithelization.

Abstract

Haemonchus contortus is a highly pathogenic worm in sheep and goats. A study was conducted to determine the in situ percentage of the development of H. contortus worm eggs at the first-stage larvae (L1) in water. This research treatment was repeated 5 times in one group with a duration of 10 days and each group used 8 female H. contortus worms. These worm eggs are counted using the McMaster method. The prepared worm samples were ground, immersed in 5 mL of pro-injection aqua (pH 7.0), and filtered using a tea filter. Research procedure: 1.5 mL of suspension was collected, placed into a tube and treated according to the procedure. Each tube, covered with aluminium foil that has holes 15 to 20, was placed on pasture for 48 h (05:00 – 24:00); where ambient temperature was recorded every four hour. Research variable include: percentage of hatched worm eggs in the immersion group. The hatchability percentage = ((the difference between numbers of worm eggs before and after treatment): (those before treatment) x 100)). Data were tabulated and analysed descriptively. The results showed that: the percentage of the total average development of the L1 H. contortus worm eggs was 26.5%. Conclusion: the percentage of egg development of H. contortus in situ was 26.5%. The influencing factors are ambient temperature, pH, humidity, culture media, and egg abnormalities. It is recommended to extend the breeding time in the media in the hope that the percentage yield is more optimal.
