Abstract

Development of A Novel Methode for COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) Measurement based on Photoelectrochemical Cell: Characterization of TiO2/ITO Film Working Electrode. Nanosize TiO2 film, immobilized on an ITO (Indium Tin Oxide) glass, was successfully fabricated. The film was prepared by a dip coating technique in a hydrothermal sol-gel system and subjected to a heat treatment at 100° C up to 450° C. Characterization of the film by XRD, AFM, BET methods revealed the occurrence of anatase form and 9.64 nm in crystallite size; having three dimensional profile and roughness with height of typically 9.8 nm; and surface area of 58.21 m2 /g. The film then was employed as a working electrode in a photo electrochemical system (PES). This PES generated a photocurrent that proportional to the organic chemical concentration in the water sample. Integration of the photocurrent versus time gives a charge (Q) that represent the event of complete mineralization of organic chemical in the TiO2 surface and can be correlated to the Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) of measured water. This system has a potential to be developed for a novel COD sensor

Abstract

Sponge is one of the marine biota that known have a high bioactivity potential and contain secondarymetabolites that can be used as antibiotic and medicinal materials. The aim of this research was tobioactivity assay of hexa-tetra contane compound contained in Callyspongia pseudoreticulata.Antibacterial tested has been carried out for Ralstonia solanacearum in potato plant. The resultsshowed that 400 mg/ml of compound has the best inhibitory diameter of “Penyakit Layu” bacterial(Ralstonia solanacearum) was 21.33 mm and significantly different to other concentration.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of calcination temperature on Titanium dioxide impregnated Ouw Natural Clay (LAO) on the degradation of Rhodamine B dye. The calcination temperature used was 200, 300, and 400 °C. Their radiation was carried out with 3x8 watt UV lamps and sunlight. The degradation percentage of Rhodamine B dye produced by LAO-TiO2 calcined at a temperature of 200, 300, and 400 °C with sunlight were 98.80%, 98.87%, and 96.07%, respectively. The degradation percentage of Rhodamine B dye produced by LAO-TiO2 calcined at temperatures of 200, 300, and 400 °C with the help of UV light were 96.01%, 97.41 %, and 97.18%, respectively.

Abstract

The reciprocating bilge pump is an important auxiliary device in the bilge system in the engine room which functions to pump bilge from the bilge tank or engine room gutter to the OWS (Oily Water Seperator) and forward it to the ship's overboard. Reciprocating bilge pump is a type of reciprocating pump (piston pump) which is widely used for pumping viscous liquids or water mixed with oil. This pump generally consists of a pump housing or pump cylinder in which there is a plunger or piston which works by moving from TMB (Bottom Dead Point) to TMA (Top Dead Point) to suck liquid into and push it back out of the cylinder. This study aims to find out the causes of the problems and the efforts that can be made on the reciprocating bilge pump so that it can restore the performance of the reciprocating bilge pump. The research method that the authors used in compiling this research is a qualitative descriptive research. While data analysis is to identify the data set that has been obtained, so that the data can be analyzed and the purpose is analyzed in order to get a clearer picture in the preparation of this research both from the problems and the final results. It is hoped that this research research can produce ideas, solutions and appropriate problem solving, both in observing and handling the problems raised in this research. Based on research on the reciprocating bilge pump at MV. Amanah Halmahera AMC this pump is not working. This is caused by the release of the piston head from the piston rod so that there is no pressure on the pump and the check valve does not work properly so that it is difficult for the fluid to be sucked into the pump chamber. To prevent this problem, it can be done by reinstalling the check valve and cleaning the check valve.
