Abstract

The aims of this research are: (1) to describe the teaching learning process using Collaborative Learning Method at the Eight Grade Students of SMP Neg. I Poso Kota Selatan; (2) to describe the result of the teaching learning process using Collaborative learning Method at the Eight Class Grade Students of SMP Neg. I Poso Kota Selatan. The researcher uses qualitative descriptive design. The researchers chose eight grade students as the sample. The data were collected by classroom observation, interview, test and documentation to find out the using Collaborative Learning Method in teaching English. The result of the research showed that in the learning process the students are interested in using this method because they can communicate each other easily. Besides, they can help each other in the learning difficulties materials, as can be seen by the result of test.Keywords: Collaborative learning, teaching English

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the perceptions of certification teachers to applying the scientific approach method in the learning process. The method used in study is a qualitative method. Data collection techniques in this study used interviews, observation and documentation. Sources of data in this study are 3 teachers who has been certified. The result of the study show that: (1) Students more active, creative and make the learning process an obligation; (2) The scientific approach many technique, more varied, using many kinds, and (3 make it easier the students for understand. It can be concluded that certified teachers perceptions in applying scientific approach is positive.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to find out politeness strategies used by Joe Louis Clark and the students in the Lean on Me movie and to find out the dominant types of politeness strategy used by Joe Louis Clark in the movie. This research uses descriptive qualitative approach. The data were in the form of utterances which contains politeness strategies. The data source is Lean on Me movie script. The data are collected by note-taking technique which were later classified and analyzed under the theories of Brown and Levinson (1987). The result of this research shows that there are four types of politeness strategies used by the main characters in Lean on Me movie when having conversation with the students and teacher. The politeness strategies were Bald-on record strategy, Positive politeness strategy, Negative politeness strategy, and Off record strategy. Positive politeness strategy has the highest frequency among other strategies since the dialogues are among teacher and students.Keywords: politeness interaction, interaction among teacher and students,positive politeness strategy

Abstract

This research aims to describe the achievement of eighth-grade students in writing procedure text at SMP Negeri 3 Pamona Timur. This research is descriptive qualitative and the subject were eighth-grade students with a total number of 15 students. Data collection is done through tests. The researcher analyzes the data using a procedure task assessment rubric, researcher focuses on all aspects, namely: content, grammar, vocabulary, and mechanics. Based on the results of the research, it is obtained that the students achievement in writing Procedure text at SMP Negeri 3 Pamona Timur from all aspects is categorized into good criteria. The students’ writing achievement in the content aspect is 3.6 and it is categorized in good criteria. The students’ writing achievement in the organization aspect is 2,5 and it is categorized in fair criteria. The students achievement in the grammar aspect is 3,4 and it is categorized in good criteria. The students writing achievement in the vocabulary aspect is 2,8 and it is categorized fair criteria. The students’ writing achievement in the mechanics’ aspect is 2,2 and it is categorized in poor criteria
