Abstract

From time to time the poplulation growth effect on the needs-of-lands. The growth of the city affect the changes of the sub-urban in a phisycal and activities. It arises as a result from the need-for-land that already not able to be fullfiled by the city Itself. Eventually, lands in the sub-urban transformed which previously dominated by non-built-up land  turn into built-up land. The movements from sub-urban to city also increased. The feeder roads between sub-urban and the city gets more dense. The study aims to review developments on the land use and density of roads in the period of time between 2010 Until 2016 and the correlation between land use development and density of roads. This research is using deductive method and ordinal regression analysis techniques. The datas that be used are primary data obtained through field observation and secondary data through study documents. The result shows the correlation between the land use development and density urban roads in the South urban fringe in the Surakarta city

Abstract

Sritex plant keeps growing which is resulting directly or indirectly attracts many labor to reside Sritex plant’s neighbourhood in order to facilitate their activities. Whereas, the Permenperin (Industrial Minister’s Regulation) No. 35 of 2010 states that the minimal distance of house to the location of plant should be more than 2000 meters recalling the hazard potentially generated by the plant to the living of the society staying there. The arrival of the labor from outside Sukoharjo Districts and surrounding areas who reside Sritex plant’s neighbourhood cause environmental burden increasing. On the other side, residents who oriented economic and can take advantage of the opportunities, their economic conditions improved and standard life increased by the existence of the Sritex plant. Based on these problems, this research want to know how impacts the existence of Sritex plant against settlement quality at Sritex plant’s neighbourhood. This research uses quantitative methods supported by several analysis techniques, including descriptive narrative analysis to identify the characteristics of Sritex plant and Paired Sample T-Test analysis to identify settlement quality at Sritex plant’s neighbourhood. The characteristic of Sritex plant divided into expanding and not expanding. While settlement quality is divided into a significant change and insignificant change / stagnant. Then an analysis of the impact of Sritex plant against settlement quality at plant’s neighbourhood using an explanatory descriptive analysis from the results of the previous analysis. Based on the results of the analysis known that the impact of Sritex plant against settlement quality viewed from the physical character of nature (Nature), social community (Society), residential buildings (Shells) and network system (Network) in the entire research area, from 17 sub variables, there are 12 sub variables changed or equal to 71% of settlements quality changed due to the expanding of Sritex plant. So known to occur relations, in which Sritex plant that expands impact on the changing significant of settlement quality on research area which is 2.000 meters of Sritex plant. The impact of expanding Sritex plant against variable of settlement quality from largest to smallest is the first Nature and Society variable, the second Network variable and the third Shell variable. Keywords:the impact of plant, quality settlement

Abstract

Flood in Surakarta mostly due to overflowing rivers that flow through the region of Surakarta. The river is part of the urban drainage system. Department of Public Works (DPU) as the local government agency is responsible for the drainage management in Surakarta. One of form of implementation of the river management as part of drainage system is river revitalization program of Pepe River downstream which performed by the DPU. Despite Pepe River downstream revitalization program has been implemented in a variety of activities, the event of flooding due to overflowing Pepe River downstream still occur. Where as the flood is one of the performance indicators of urban drainage system. Thus, from that background it can be defined in research formulation problems, that is how the influence of the river revitalization performed by the DPU Surakarta against Pepe River downstream performance as part of urban drainage system in Surakarta. This research uses quantitative descriptive analysis supported by several analytical techniques including descriptive narrative analysis to identify the characteristics of the revitalization of Pepe River downstream and paired simple t-test analysis to identify the changes of drainage system performance. Next, the relations from the results of both analysis will be identified using explanatory descriptive analysis. Based on the analysis results, it shows that the characteristics of the revitalization of Pepe River downstream is categorized in moderate intensity, because it only includes physical and social activities. Although there are improved changes in the drainage system performance. On the river section I, there are less significant changes with the number of the biggest changes ison the indicator of gabions, that is 11. On the river section II, the drainage system performance changes are significant with the number of the biggest changes is on the indicator of sedimentation, that is 38. In river section III, there are less significant changes with the number of the biggest change is on the indicator of garbage accumulation, with a score of 21.Therefore, it can be argued that the river revitalization program performed by the DPU Surakarta affects the Pepe River downstream performance as the primary drainage channel in the drainage system in Surakarta. The influence can be seen from the reversion of river functions as a drainage channel which is marked by changes in Pepe River downstream drainage system performance from before the river revitalization performed and after the revitalization performed, which is improved. Keywords: river revitalization, catchment area, drainage system performence
