Abstract

Membaca selalu dianggap sulit oleh banyak siswa. Sebagian besar siswa di Universitas Lakidende mengalami masalah berikut: masalah pertama menyangkut; mereka masih kurang memahami apa yang mereka baca. Masalah kedua, cara guru mengajar membaca digunakan cara konvensional dan tidak mendorong siswa untuk aktif dalam proses pembelajaran. Selain itu, salah satu masalah yang dihadapi oleh guru dalam proses pengajaran adalah bahwa hanya beberapa siswa yang dapat memahami teks dengan baik. Hal ini disebabkan oleh tidak adanya motivasi dari siswa untuk membaca dalam bahasa Inggris dan sebagian besar sudut pandang siswa tentang membaca dalam bahasa Inggris membuat mereka bosan. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menyelidiki apakah penggunaan schoology akan mengungkapkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dalam bahasa target serta menemukan apakah strategi tersebut berdampak pada motivasi mereka untuk menggunakan bahasa Inggris. Tujuan dari Studi ini adalah untuk mengetahui sejauh mana schoology meningkatkan pemahaman membaca siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain quasi eksperimen yang terdiri dari kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Di kelas eksperimen disebut kelas yang diberi schoology. Sedangkan kelas kontrol disebut kelas yang diberi seperangkat kondisi biasa atau cara konvensional, yaitu strategi tiga langkah. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Universitas Lakidende Unaaha dengan sampel 66 mahasiswa sarjana. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan tes membaca. Hasilnya menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan pada pemahaman membaca siswa antara kelompok eksperimen dan kontrol sebelum dan sesudah perawatan. Peneliti menggunakan analisis uji-t Sampel independen oleh SPSS ayat 16 untuk menguji hipotesis. Analisis data menunjukkan ada peningkatan yang signifikan pada pemahaman membaca siswa dari pre-test ke post-test mengungkapkan perbedaan yang signifikan (0,000 <0,05) sebelum dan sesudah implementasi schoology. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa Schoology efektif untuk meningkatkan pemahaman membaca siswa.

Abstract

This research aimed to know the pattern and the form of Synonymy of Tolaki language uttered by Tolea-Pabitara in the marriage tradition. This research used an analysis qualitative descriptive design by applying some techniques of collecting data as follows: (1) Interview, (2) Recording. To get the data about The Synonymy In Tolea-Pabitara Utterances In Marriage Tradition Of Tolakinese, the researcher use three methods, they are (1) Library method, (2) Field method and (3) Documentation. The researcher analyzed them through the following steps: (1) Transcription of the data, (2) Description the pattern of synonymy in Tolaki language through utterences of Tolea–Pabitara in marriage tradition of Tolakinese and followed by sentences of Tolea-Pabitara utterances, and (3) Description about the form of synonymy in utterances of Tolea–Pabitara in marriage tradition of Tolaki language. In this research, the researcher found two (2) pattern of scale namely (1) Double Scale and(2) Three Scale in Tolea-Pabitara utterances. There are 88 synonymy in Double Scale and there are 10 synonymy in Three Scale. Meanwhile, there are five (5) Form in the utterances of Tolea-Pabitara, theyare Noun, Verb, Adjective, Adverb and Interjection.

Abstract

This research was aimed to improve the writing ability through Short Animated Stories at grade VIIID of SMPN 1 Uepai, in the academic year of 2023/2024. This particular research was categorized as action research. The actions were implemented in two cycles based on the class schedule. This research involved the 25 students of class VIIID of SMPN 1 Uepai in the academic year of 2023/2024 and the English teacher as the research collaborator. The data of the study were in the forms of qualitative and quantitative data. The qualitative data were obtained by observing the teaching and learning process of writing, interviewing the students of class VIIID and the English teacher, holding a discussion with the English teacher and taking figures. Meanwhile, the quantitative data were acquired through the pre-test, the progress test, and the post test. The research findings showed that the use of Short Animated Stories combined with the use of some supporting activities and classroom was proven to be effective to improve the students’ writing ability. It could get students’ attention and increased their learning motivation. It can help the students understand the story better as the picture that can help imagining the real situation in the story. In the result of pre-test, the students’ score was 54.32 with the percentage was 16%. In the cycle I, the students’ score was 64.88 with the percentage was 44%, it means that it do not get standard indicator of successfulness. Then the researcher continues the research at the cycle II, the students’ score was 70.44 with the percentage was 72%, it means that they get standard indicator of successfulness. The distance of percent between cycle I and cycle II was 28%. On the next test on post-test, the students’ score was 76.16 with the percentage was 80%. Based on the score of obtained students who analyzed by using qualitative and quantitative showed the score was very significant, thus short animated stories fit in this learning and can improve students’ writing ability.
