Abstract

Abstract

Zoning of agricultural commodities in Cirebon Regency is needed in the framework of determining and developing superior commodities that have comparative advantages. The aim of this research is to arrange the zoning of agricultural commodities based on the agroecological zone in Cirebon Regency. The research location includes 16 sub-districts in the eastern part of Cirebon Regency, covering an area of 54.015 ha. The methods used in the research include: surveys, laboratory analysis, land evaluation and spatial analysis. The results obtained 10 agricultural systems and 30 commodity zoning units which include: a) wetland agriculture, with commodities of lowland rice, shallots, sugar cane, corn and soybeans, b) dry land agriculture, food crops, with upland rice and corn commodities, c) dry land agriculture, animal feed (grass), d) dry land agriculture, food crops (upland rice, maize, peanuts, soybeans) and perennial crops (sugarcane, teak, sengon), e) agriculture dry land, food crops (upland rice, maize, soybean), horticulture (mango), and perennial crops (sugarcane and sengon), (f) dry land agriculture, perennial crops (sugarcane and sengon) and food crops ( upland rice, maize, and peanuts), (g) dry land agriculture, annual crops/plantations with sengon commodities, (h) brackish water fishery (shrimp or milkfish pond), (i) wetland forest as a buffer zone, and (j) dry land forest as a conservation zone. Keywords: zoning, superior commodity, agroecological zone

Abstract

Plant-disturbing organisms such as pests, pathogens, and weeds cause problems in crop cultivation so they need proper handling. Soil solarization is an alternative to pest control. This paper discusses information on the control of disruptive organisms by solarizing technology. Some of the components that play a role in the solarization process, namely the sun as an energy source, plastic mulch as an energy source converter, and soil moisture as a trap and conductor of heat produced by plastic in deeper soil depths. Solarization of the soil is environmentally friendly and is carried out before planting by managing heat energy from solar radiation. The best soil solarization is by using transparent plastic sheets because they are translucent, where most of the light is transmitted through the plastic sheet and only a little is absorbed and reflected. High soil temperatures due to soil solarization can suppress soil pathogens, soil pests, and weed propagules and can increase soil fertility, growth, and crop yield.

Abstract

Efforts to procure quality potato seeds are continuously being made, including using plantlet cuttings to produce G0 seeds. Several cultivation technologies can be used to increase the quality and quantity of G0 potato seeds. This study aims to increase the production of G0 potato seeds through modification of cultivation technology, namely planting media, number of cuttings, planting, and hood. The research was conducted from November 2017 to March 2018 in a plastic house in Lembang, West Bandung, West Java with an altitude of 1.200 m above sea level. The experiment used a completely randomized block design (RCBD) with eight treatments and ten replications. The variety used was Granola L. The results showed that the best modification of cultivation technology to increase the production of the number of tubers per G0 potato plant was a mixture of soil, manure, roasted husk (1: 1: 1) + heaping + 2 seeds + without hoods.
