Abstract

Tanaman semangka berasal dari Afrika dan saat ini telah menyebar ke seluruh dunia, baik di daerah sub tropis maupun tropis. Tanaman semangka merupakan tanaman semusim dan tergolong cepat berproduksi. Tanaman semangka merupakan tanaman menyerbuk silang. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui karakter hasil selfing pertama (S1) pada enam varietas semangka di lahan Politeknik Negeri Lampung. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di lahan percobaan Politeknik Negeri Lampung, pada bulan Mei sampai September 2014. Bahan yang digunakan adalah enam varietas semangka hibrida (Black Panther, Gadis Manis, Wong Barry, Gonzales, Baginda, Anabel), penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Kelompok Teracak Sempurna (RKTS). Berdasarkan pengamatan dan analisis yang telah dilaksanakan dapat disimpulkan bahwa karakter pada enam varietas semangka hasil selfing yang telah diuji dilahan Politeknik Negeri Lampung berbeda nyata. Varietas Baginda memiliki karakter berat dan jumlah benih yang lebih baik, yaitu dengan nilai 12.67 gram dan 363.33 butir benihKata kunci : selfing, semangka, hibrida, menyerbuk silang .

Abstract

Jagung mempunyai peran strategis bagi perekonomian nasional, jagung penyumbang terbesar kedua setelah padi dalam subsektor tanaman pangan. Uji adaptasi merupakan kegiatan uji lapangan terhadap tanaman dibeberapa agroekologi bagi tanaman untuk mengetahui keunggulan dan interaksi varietas terhadap lingkungan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui galur jagung hibrida rakitan Politeknik Negeri Lampung yang mampu beradaptasi di dataran menengah. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Desa Gisting Kabupaten Tanggamus pada bulan September 2017 – Februari 2018 dengan metode Rancangan Kelompok Teracak Sempurna (RKTS) yang terdiri dari 1 faktor yaitu galur, 3 ulangan, 5 genotipe yaitu 4 galur A (PL 300 X PL 403), B (PL 101 X PL 401), C (PL 401 X PL 101), D (PL 403 X PL 300) dan varietas NK 22 sebagai pembanding. Hasil penelitian uji adaptasi pada dataran menengah Tanggamus menunjukkan bahwa galur A, B, C, dan D mampu beradaptasi pada dataran menengah dapat dilihat dari hasil biji per hektar yang setara dengan varietas pembanding.Kata kunci : Dataran menengah, jagung, uji adaptasi.

Abstract

Tomato production can’t fulfill the consumption needs of tomatoes. One way to fulfill this need is to expand the land by planting tomatoes in the lowlands. However, the limited number of cultivars suitable for planting in the lowlands is an obstacle. Assembling new superior cultivars of tomato plants that have good adaptations in the lowlands is one solution that can be done. The aim of this research was to produce a new tomato strain with superior characters. The research design was using a Completely Randomized Block Design, as a treatment consisting of eight new strains of F6 generation tomato plants, each experimental unit was repeated three times. The variables observed were maximum plant height, number of primary branches per plant, number of fruit bunches per plant, number of fruit per bunch, number of fruit per plant, age of plant beginning to flower, age of fruit starting to form until physiological maturity, fruit diameter, the weight of each fruit, fruit yield per plant, fruit yield per hectare. The data were analyzed for variance, if there was a significant difference between treatments; further tests were carried out with the BNT test at an alpha of 0.05. The results showed that each strain had various quantitative characters. The LA, LA1, and LH strains had a higher potential yield per hectare compared to the other lines. The heritability values in most of the observed quantitative variables have moderate to high values. This shows that the character is more controlled by genetic traits. Abstract

Padi adalah salah satu komoditas pangan utama di Indonesia. Kebutuhan pangan beras akan meningkat setiap tahunnya selaras dengan peningkatan jumlah penduduk. Akan tetapi peningkatan kebutuhan beras tiap tahunnya tidak sesuai dengan kondisi lahan dan produksi padi yang ada saat ini. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan adalah dengan menggunakan galur atau varietas padi yang memiliki produktivitas tinggi. Pengembangan galur-galur padi baru memiliki karakteristik yang berbeda-beda. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Lahan Seed Teaching Farm PS. Teknologi Perbenihan, Politeknik Negeri Lampung, pada bulan Agustus —Desember 2020. Rancangan perlakuan disusun secara RAKL dengan 1 faktor (galur), 3 blok, dan 5 ulangan. Perlakuan yang dicobakan adalah 13 galur tanaman padi rakitan Politeknik Negeri Lampung, yaitu galur B1, B2, B3, B4, B7, D2, D3, F3, F4, H1, H4, K dan L2. Data hasil pengamatan diolah dengan software SAS dan terhadap analisis ragam yang nyata, dilanjutkan dengan menggunakan Uji Jarak Berganda Duncan (DMRT) dengan taraf 5%. Berdasarkan nilai KKG dan KKF, variabel pengamatan yang dapat digunakan untuk seleksi berdasarkan penelitian ini yaitu jumlah gabah bernas/malai, jumlah gabah hampa/malai, bobot malai dan produktivitas. Galur yang memiliki produktivitas yang tinggi yaitu galur D3. Kata kunci: galur padi, keragaman, produktivitas

Abstract

Among the superior varieties can be obtained through breeding. The low level of farmer adoption of improved varieties resulting from breeding is partly due to the different preferences of farmers with breeding. The development of specific varieties will be successful through a participatory breeding program that involves breeders, farmers and rice industry players in the selection process for prospective new varieties. The research objective was to analyze and select the quantitative and qualitative characters of 12 new rice lines to produce new superior rice varieties that were more suitable to farmers' tastes. The research in the field was compiled using a Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD), as a treatment consisting of 12 lines of F11 generation, each treatment was repeated three times. Observations were made on the like and dislike statements of respondents consisting of 20 farmers on the phenotypic character of each line, as well as an assessment of the phenotype acceptance of each line as assessed by the breeders (4 breeders) before harvest following the guidelines (IRRI, 2002) . The results showed that the F3 line had the highest preference value, namely the value of 0.9, meaning that the farmers liked the most. The line with the lowest preference value is the D2 line with a value of -1 (minus one), meaning that it is the least preferred. Based on the phenotype acceptance value of the breeders for each line, three lines had a phenotypic value of 1 or very good value, namely the B4, H1, and H4 lines, while those with a value of 3 or good were eight lines, namely the B2, B3, B7, D2, D3, F3, F4, and L2 lines. One line has a bad phenotype value, namely the K.

Abstract

Rice is the main staple food for most Indonesians. Rice consumption in Indonesia is increasing along with population growth. Efforts to increase rice production continue to be carried out. Increasing production using external inputs in the form of chemical fertilizers and pesticides has resulted in a decrease in food quality and land degradation. Meeting food needs must be harmonized with environmental sustainability. Organic rice cultivation can improve the quality of agricultural products and be friendlier to the environment. This research aims to determine the quality of rice and the nutritional content of three rice genotypes cultivated organically and non-organically. The research was conducted at the Politeknik Negeri Lampung, in August 2022- April 2023. The research results showed that the quality of rice from three rice genotypes (red, white, black) in the organic cultivation system met the Premium Quality requirements, while in the non-organic cultivation system it met the Medium Quality requirements I SNI 6128:2020.
