Abstract

Background: The occurrence of dental caries (tooth decay), which affects many people of Indonesia begins with the process due to demineralization of emailby acid that comes from food and beverages, which one is the effervescent tablet. Based on a research, it proved that the effervescent tablet cause corrosion to the teeth. This is happen because of pH of the effervescent tablet solution makes the mouth condition become acic. The goal of this study is to determine the effect of drinking effervescent tablet to the pH of saliva. Method: The research was pre-experimental with pretest and posttest design. The study was conducted in six departments in the Poltekkes Kemenkes Yogyakarta on April 23rd until May 5th 2012. The population consist of 35 people, 29 peopledrawn from the population as the samples using simple random sampling technique. Research variables are the pH of saliva and effervescent tablets. Analysis of the data used is the Chi square test with significance level = 0.05. Result: The Chi square test earned an average pH of saliva before drinkingthe effervescent tablet which contain calcium of 7.3, and the average pH of saliva after drinking effervescent tablet which contain calcium of 7.5. The average pH of saliva before drinking the effervescent tablet which contain thyme of 7.4, and the average pH of saliva after drinking effervescent tablet which contain thyme of 7.7. The result of chi square test showed there was no significant effect is equal to 0.800 and 0.664 with a significance level of 0.05. Conclusion: It proved that was no effect of drinking effervescent tablets to the salivary pH in Poltekkes Kemenkes Yogyakarta students.

Abstract

Baby teeth guide the permanent teeth emergence roads, in order to occupythe right position in the jaw. Some baby teeth last for 11,5 years from age 6 months to12 years. Age are very susceptible to oral health is a primary school child. The teethare not normally a source of prolonged disruption to dental health. Parents who knowthe period of dental growth both baby teeth and permanent teeth will be very helpful.Based on preliminary studies conducted in the month of February 2012 at SDN WojoI Bantul to assess knowledge of parents about the schedule of events dentition withteeth persistence, 7 of 9 children are children who have persistence and 9 of child’sparents do not know about teething schedule. To determine the relationship gradeparents knowledge about teething schedule with event of teeth persistence children6-10 years old in SDN Wojo I Bantul. Observation used Cross Sectional study design.Population used are 45 children 6-10 years old who have teeth persistence andparents whose children have tooth persistence in SDN Wojo I Bantul. The sampleused amounted to 30 people, a way of sampling is to use a simple sampling of thevote population. The data obtained was made in a cross tabulation then performedstatistical tests using Spearman’s Rank. Knowledge of parents in SDN Wojo I Bantulon teething schedule is mostly good enough to have criteria, which is 70%. Incidenceof child persistence in SDN Wojo I Bantul have most of the criteria for little that isequal to 66,7%, of the total number of respondents. The test statistically results areobtained significant values 0,018 < 0,05 means there is a relationship grade parentsknowledge about teeth schedule with event of teeth persistence children 6-10 yearsold in SDN Wojo I Bantul.

Abstract

Chlorhexidine is one mouthwash that potent and have antibacterial with broadspectrum. Effective against Gram positive and Gram negative though to the lasttype of the effectiveness a bit lower, but effectively reduce inflammation of the gingivaand the accumulation of plaque. Orthodontic treatments, including fixed orthodontic(ortho unfixed or fixed) nowadays is often used along with the rise of thesociety’s knowledge. Gingivitis periodontal, is a disease usually caused by plaque’smicroorganism and The products which result in the occurrence inflammatory andinfectious agent that destroys the supporting tissue of the teeth Including gingiva,ligament periodontal, the alveolar. The existence of other fixed orthodontic that stickto the teeth will complicate to cleaning the teeth so the tends to occur plaque buildupon the teeth around the bracket and one by the three crowns of the teeth on the edgeof gingiva. the good cleanliness of the teeth and mouth can be understood that teethand mouth free from any debris, calculus, plaque or other foreign material. This studyaimed to determine the difference of the chlorhexidine for 15-30 years old gingivitisscore fixed ortho patients in the practice of Drg Sofyan Makassar. The samplesretrieved from the population of 30 gingvitis subjects who use ortho fixed. Gargle hasbeen done at home for 7 days with gargle twice everyday after the subject has abrushing teeth in the morning and after the subject has a brushing teeth before sleepin the night. Then analyzed using statistical test of Paired Sample T Test. Based onstatistical analysis, there was a decrease in the degree of gingivitis and an differenceof the gingivitis score chlorhexidine for fixed ortho patients after gargle withchlorhexidine.

Abstract

Background : Knowledge is the result of human sensing,or know someone on the outcome of certain objectsthrough the senses of its senses vision, sense of hearing,smell, taste and touch. Most of the knowledge gainedthrough the senses of a person’s vision and sense ofhearing. Based on a preliminary study conducted by interviewingpeople in 5 patients in the clinic after tooth extractionDental Center dated 20 July 2013 stating that thepatient’s teeth without food mastication process, appearanceand function of a person’s speech will be interrupted.Objective: To determine the relationship between patients’knowledge about the usefulness of the teeth with an interestin using removable partial dentures on patientsin theclinic Dental Center.Research methods : cross-sectional research design.Sampling using simple techniques Purporsivesampling.A large sample of 30 people. The research hypothesis isno association between tinggkat knowledge with interestusing a removable partial denture clinic Dental Center,Yogyakarta.Results: Statistical test results obtained Chi - Square p =0.122 > 0.05 so that Ho accepted and Ha is rejected meaningthere is no meaningful relationship.Conclusion : In patients who have a high level of knowledgeabout the usefulness of denture teeth tend to use asa replacement for natural tooth function and appearancereasons.

Abstract

Background:Tooth with hearing lies one seed will cause abnormalitiesin the eruption, one of which is impaction occurs.Mandibular third molar impaction can interfere with masticatoryfunction and often leads to various complications. Bleedingis one of the events that can occur in patients post odontectomy.Materials commonly used after revocation actionsand odontectomy is spongostan and alvogyl. Objective:To determinethe difference between use and alvogyl spongostanthe patient’s blood clotting time post odontectomy lower thirdmolars.Methods:This research uses experimental methodsto study design pre Static Group Comparison. The populationin this study were patients post odontectomy third molarsunder 30 people with the following criteria: (1) Teeth are deprivedof the mandibular third molars right or left grade 1 ; (2)Male or female, (3) Age 20 -50 years, (4) Do not have a systemicdisease. The technique of sampling using random samplingor random. Analysis of the data used in this research isusing independent t - test test. This study was conducted inAugust – Oktober 2013 in the RS JIH Yogyakarta Jln. RingRoad utara No 160 Yogyakarta.Results:The test results peiredt -test on blood clotting time difference post odontectomy afteradministration alvogyl spongostan and obtained values of0.000 significancy (P<0.05). Conclusion:There is a differencebetween use and alvogyl spongostan the patient’s blood clottingtime post odontectomy lower third molars.

Abstract

Dental health is one thing that is faced by older people notto mention pre elderly. Loss of teeth and toothless state inpre elderly age prevalence tends to decrease, but the conditionis still quite high in developing countries are associatedwith economic conditions and low education . It isexpected to also affect a person’s interest to replace missingteeth with denture. This study aims to prove the relationshipbetween level of education and economic statusof the interest in using removable partial dentures .The research is an analytic survey with cross sectionaldesign and farms located in Tambak Bayan Sleman District.The sampling technique performed in this study ispurposive sampling. Sample is 31 pre elderly people whohave lost at least 2 teeth but not wear dentures . Pre elderlywho meet the criteria are given an explanation of how to fillout a questionnaire, and then were instructed to fill outquestionnaires about their level of education, economicstatus, and interests using removable partial dentures .Average pre elderly in Tambak Bayan Sleman District pondsecondary education ( high school ) is 48.4% , ie economicstatus was 51,6 % , and has a keen interest inusing removable partial dentures is 48.4 % .Data analysisusing statistical test and the Kendall - Tau showed that therelationship of education with an interest rate using removablepartial dentures have a significance of 0.012 ,while the relationship between the economic status of theinterest in using removable partial dentures have a significanceof 0.001 . This indicates that the value of p < 0.05means that Ho is rejected , so that there is a significantcorrelation between level of education and economic statusof the interest using removable partial dentures on preelderly.

Abstract

Background:Satisfaction is a state in which needs, wishes, and expectationscan bemet with a service received. Patients will feel satisfied if they think that the quality of service exceeds their needs, wishes and expectations. Tooth restoration is one of the method to repair tooth decay in order to return to its original shape and to function normally again for chewing. The material used often for the restoration is glass ionomer because it has advantages, namely the result of restoration has the same color as the teeth and it can release fluoride, which can help protecting teeth from secondary caries. Purpose: This research aims atobtaining an overview of patient’s satisfaction level with glass ionomer restoration at Private Dentist Clinic of X, Wates, KulonProgo. Methods: The research belongs to a descriptive research, with cross sectional survey research design.The population in this research was all patients who visited the Private Dentist Clinic of X, Wates, KulonProgo,whose age was limited to those above 17 years old. The sample size was 30 people. Results: The research results indicatedthat the patient’s satisfaction level with the tooth restoration using glass ionomer material at the Private Dentist Clinic ofX, Wates, KulonProgo, was 100% satisfied.The highest level of patient’s satisfaction in terms of sex was dominated by female of 56.7%. The highest level of patient’s satisfaction in terms of age was mostly 31-43 years old by 36.7%. The highest level of patient’s satisfaction in terms of education was high school graduates by 70%. Conclusions: It can be concluded from this research that all patients were satisfied with glass ionomer restoration at the Private Dentist Clinic of X, Wates, KulonProgo, with the highest level of satisfaction dominated by female, 31-43 years old, and high school graduates.

Abstract

Maintaining dental and oral health is one of the efforts to improve health. One of the causes of why a person neglects dental and oral health is poor knowledge of dental and oral hygiene. In addition to caries, oral hygiene is one of the important issues concerning oral cavities that require attention. Primary school-aged children need more attention because they are vulnerable to dental and oral health problems. The aims of this research were to investigate the level of tooth brushing knowledge and OHI-S in fifth-grade students of SD N 1 Panjangrejo, Bantul. It belongs to descriptive research. The results indicated that 74.4% of students had moderate knowledge of tooth brushing, 17.9% had poor knowledge and 7.7% of students had good knowledge. The results of OHI-S status were 69.2% of students had good OHI-S status and 30.8% had moderate OHI-S status. It can be concluded that the level of knowledge of tooth brushing in fifth-grade students of SD N 1 Panjangrejo Bantul was moderate criteria by 74.4% and the status OHI-S of students was good criteria by 69.2%. Most of them had moderate knowledge of tooth brushing and good status of OHI-S by 51.2%.
