Abstract

Kayu kawui adalah salah satu lesser known species yang belum banyak diketahui sifat-sifatkayunya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui sifat fisika dan mekanika kayukawui. Bahan penelitian dua pohon kawui berdiameter 28,34 cm dan 34,74 cm diambil darihutan alam. Bahan dipotong menjadi tiga bagian yaitu pangkal, tengah dan ujung,pengujian mengikuti standar DIN. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkapdengan satu faktor yaitu letak pada batang dengan tiga aras yaitu pangkal-tengah dan ujung,seluruhnya dilakukan tiga ulangan. Hasil penelitian kadar air basah dan kering udara pohonkesatu lebih besar dari pohon kedua. Berat jenis kering udara dan kering tanur keduanyasama besar. Modulus elastis, modulus patah, keteguhan geser sejajar serat, keteguhan tekansejajar serat, keteguhan pukul pohon kesatu lebih kecil dari pohon kedua. Kekerasanterendah sampai tertinggi adalah pada bidang tangensial, bidang radial dan bidangtransversal. Perlakuan arah aksial kadar air dan berat jenis tidak berpengaruh nyata, ujiketeguhan geser sejajar serat, kekerasan bidang tangensial, radial serta keteguhan lengkungstatis berpengaruh nyata. Hasil uji Beda Nyata Jujur perlakuan terbaik untuk keteguhangeser sejajar serat pada bagian tengah, kekerasan bidang radial pada pangkal, kekerasanbidang tangensial dan keteguhan lengkung statis pada bagian ujung. Berat Jenis kayu kawuimasuk kelas kuat III, MoE masuk dalam kelas kuat II-IV, MoR dan keteguhan tekan sejajarserat masuk kelas kuat II. Kayu kawui cocok untuk penggunaan bahan bangunan, plywood,meubel, lantai, dinding, bantalan, kusen-kusen dan kapal.Kata kunci: Kawui, sifat fisika, sifat mekanika, kelas kuat II dan III.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of particle sizes (10 mesh, 20 mesh, and 30 mesh) on the physical and mechanical properties of particleboards made from industry waste of PT. Aldi Mandomai Furniture, based on JIS A 5903: 2003 Standard. .  Particleboards size were 30 x30x1,5 cm, density 0,5 g/cm3. Moisture content particles at 5%, particles glued with urea-formaldehyde adhesives, weight 10%, hot press pressured with temperature  110 ± 20C for 15 minutes, pressure 25 kg/ cm2. Furthermore, particleboards must be conditioned for ± 14 days/ 2 weeks. Particleboards were cut into sample test according to the size in the JIS A 5903:2003 standard. Research design used Completely Random Design with one factor. Data analyzed using analysis of variance, if  data was significant must  to do  areal difference test. The observed to particle size with 3 levels are 10 mesh, 20 mesh, and 30 mesh.  The results of physical properties were Density ( a.v. 0,46 – 0,49 g/cm³), Moisture Content (a.v. 12,22 – 14,05%),  Water Absorption (a.v  129,79 – 167,03%), and Thickness Swelling (a.v 11,43 – 22,08%).  The results of mechanical properties were internal bonding (0,0075 - 0,0204 N/mm2), Modulus of Elasticity (a.v. 5,91 – 25,32 N/mm2), Modulus of Rupture (a.v   0,52 – 1,52 N/mm2 ), and Screw Holding (a.v.  29,42 – 104,60 N).  Particleboards made from furniture industry waste  with particle size 10 mesh was significantly to physical properties, except density and fulfill JIS A 5903:2003,  while the mechanical properties of particleboard are not fulfill the standard.

Abstract

Penelitian pendahuluan potensi kayu Kawui sebagai bahan baku pelet bertujuan mengetahui kualitas pelet kayu Kawui sebagai energi baru dan terbarukan. Menggunakan Rancangan Acak lengkap, dengan perlakuan komposisi perekat 10%, 20% dan 30%. Parameter pengujian meliputi kadar air, kadar zat mudah menguap, kadar karbon terikat dan nilai kalor. Selanjutnya dilakukan perbandingan dengan standar SNI (8021:2014), standar Prancis (ITEBE) dan standar Swedia (SS 18 71 20). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan Kualitas pelet kayu kawui memenuhi standar SNI 8021-2014 dengan nilai rata-rata untuk parameter Kadar air 11%, kadar Abu 1% dan Nilai kalor 18,16 Megajoule atau 4338,9 cal/g, untuk ke tiga komposisi perekat. Parameter yang tidak memenuhi standar SNI untuk parameter kadar zat mudah menguap dan karbon terikat, sedangkan standar Prancis maupun Swedia tidak mensyaratkan. Khusus untuk nilai kalor, hasil penelitian ini lebih rendah 2,7% dibandingkan nilai kalor batubara dari Kabupaten Barru, Sulawesi Selatan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini maka kayu Kawui berpotensi sebagai energi biomassa yang menjanjikan melalui pembuatan biopelet. Biopelet kayu Kawui memenuhi kualitas dalam negeri baik pada skala industri maupun skala rumah tangga, juga memungkinkan untuk dikembangkan menjadi biopelet kualitas eksport hanya perlu penanganan sedikit lebih baik pada kadar air pelet kayu.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to determine the quality of Kawui wood particle board using PVac adhesive. The study used Kawui sawdust material size 10 mesh. The study design used a complete randomized design. The treatment used is 7%, 11% and 15% adhesive percentages. The test parameters of the physical properties of particle board mechanics include moisture content, water absorption density, thickness development, modulus of elasticity, modulus of rupture, internal bond and screw unplug firmness. The results showed that different PVAc adhesive levels did not have a significant effect on the physical properties of particle board, namely moisture content, density, thickness development, and water absorption. In the mechanical properties of adhesive content has a significant effect on the mechanical properties of wood particle board kawui, namely (Internal Bond / IB and Screw Unplug Constancy except for the Modulus of elasticity (MoE) and modulus of rupture (MoR), the Physical Properties of the resulting particle board do not meet SNI 03-2105-2006 standards, namely for the parameters of Water Content, Density, Water Absorption unless the Thickness Development meets the standards. The mechanical properties of particle boards, namely Modulus of fracture (MoR), Internal Bond (IB), Firmness of Screw Pull are not included in these standards. The condition of the results of this study is thought to be caused by the lack of adhesive percentage and uneven distribution of adhesives.

Abstract

The social forestry enterprise group of stingless bee farming is a group that utilizes stingless bees for cultivation and already has a product, which is honey. The community managing the social forestry land is Tuwung Village, Pulang Pisau Regency, Central Kalimantan Province. The research aims to determine the potential and economic value, as well as the factors influencing the productivity of stingless bee honey. The research method used is qualitative descriptive method. The stingless bee farming enterprise in Tuwung Village produces 40 liters of honey from 33 hives, where the potential for stingless bee cultivation is still suboptimal. The economic value, as the income from honey sales in one year, amounts to Rp 10,000,000. The honey produced during one year totals 40 liters with a selling price of Rp 250,000 per liter, resulting in the income of this enterprise group still being suboptimal or relatively low.
