Abstract

Penelitian tentang pengembangan teknik prakonsentrasi ion logam Cu(II) dengan menggunakan kolom yang berisi resin Ca-Alginat telah dilakukan. Teknik prakonsentrasi ini dilakukan secara off-line, yaitu sampel air dimasukkan ke dalam kolom, dielusi dengan HCl 1,5 M, kemudian eluatnya ditampung dan diukur dengan spektrofotometer serapan atom. Beberapa parameter penting pada teknik prakonsentrasi ini telah dipelajari. Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh kondisi optimum untuk retensi ion Cu(II) yaitu pada pH 4, volume sampel 4 mL, volume eluen HCl 2 mL dengan konsentrasi 1,5 M, dan kapasitas retensi 3,8269 mg Cu/g resin. Kinerja analitik metode ini sangat baik untuk analisis ion Cu(II) ditunjukkan dari pengukuran nilai batas deteksi sebesar 3,73 μg/L dengan tingkat kebolehulangan yang dinyatakan sebagai nilai persentase koefisien variansi sebesar 1,2669 %. Metode ini dapat diaplikasikan untuk analisis ion Cu(II) pada sampel air dari lingkungan dengan nilai perolehan kembali > 95 %, dengan menggunakan teknik spike terlihat bahwa matriks sampel yang berasal dari Sungai Mahakam dan Sungai Karang Mumus tidak mempengaruhi hasil pengukuran.Research about developing preconcentration technique of Cu(II) ion by using column technique filled with Ca-Alginate resin has been carried out. The preconcentration technique was developed by off-line method, water samples were passed through the column and eluted with 1.5 M HCl. The eluate was taken and detected by atomic absorption spectrophotometer. The important parameters for preconcentration technique had been studied. The optimum conditions obtained for the retention of Cu(II) ion was at pH 4, sample volume of 4 mL, the eluate volume of 2 mL with concentration of 1.5 M HCl, and retention capacity of 3.8269 mg Cu/g resin. The analytical performance of this method is good which are shown by the limit of detection of 3.73 μg/L and the reproducibility level shown by the precentage of the coefficient variance of 1.2636 %. The method could be applied for the determination of Cu(II) ion in the water samples from environment with a recovery percentage of > 95% by using the spike method it was shown that matrice of water from Mahakam and Karang Mumus Rivers did not effect the results of measurement.

Abstract

Coal plays a crucial role in Indonesia’s foreign exchange and East Kalimantan’s revenue sharing, yet its environmental impacts, including soil acidification, raises concerns. Reclamation measures involve revegetation with pioneer plants such as Macaranga sp., known for their medicinal properties. However, the pharmacological properties of these plants are influenced by secondary metabolites, which depend on soil parameters such as pH and nutrient levels. The aim of this study was to evaluate the acute toxicity, secondary metabolites, and antioxidant activities of Macaranga tanarius leaf extracts from post-coal mining area (MTPCMA) and non-mining area (MTNMA) alongside soil parameters. Acute toxicity of M. tanarius leaf extracts and soils were assessed using the brine shrimp lethality test (BSLT). Phytochemical screening was done using thin-layer chromatography (TLC), determining total phenolic (TPC) and flavonoid content (TFC). The DPPH radical scavenging assay was used to assess the antioxidant activity. A comparative analysis between MTPCMA and MTNMA was conducted using Student t-test. The data showed no significant difference in toxicity between MTPCMA and MTNMA leaf extracts (LC50 of 100–1000 µg/mL) (p=0.062), and soils from both areas were non-toxic (LC50 of >1000 µg/mL). Although heavy metal concentrations were higher in PCMA than in NMA soil (p<0.001), secondary metabolite compounds and TFC in both extracts were not significantly different (p=0.076). Both extracts contained flavonoids and polyphenols with antioxidant activity and terpenoids without antioxidant activities. The DPPH radical scavenging test suggested insignificant antioxidant activity between MTPCMA and MTNMA extracts (p=0.237). In conclusion, non-toxic soils in post-mining land and insignificant differences between MTPCMA and MTNMA extracts suggest good soil nutrient availability, highlighting the success of land recovery after 10 years of revegetation with M. tanarius.

Abstract

A research about validation method of Fe analysis in activated Methyl Diethanol Amine (aMDEA) using X-Ray Fluurescence (XRF) has been done. Analysis of Fe ion in aMDEA was performed to find out the rising of Fe in aMDEA that will show corrosion or metal erosion is caused by aMDEA degradation and contamination or accumulation from heat stable salt that can dissolve or scrape the film coat in carbon steel. Validation is done consist of linearity, accuracy, precision, limit of detection, and limit of quantitation. The analytical performance of the XRF for determination of Fe ions is good, shown as coefficient of correlation are 0.9997, repeatability as % RSD value are 1,93 % less than 2/3 CV Horwitz 6.24 %, percentage of recovery are 103.35 % . The LOD and LOQ are 0.351 and 2.975 ppm respectively, and Fe selectivity in aMDEA at 6.4 keV. The results obtained showed the XRF can be used for the routine analysis in the determination of Fe ions aMDEA samples.

Abstract

Validation method on the determination of Mn in lubricating oil by direct dilution method using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) in Laboratory & Environment Control PT. Badak NGL Bontang has been done The validation method was done with research stages such as determination of optimum solvent, and determination of some important parameters influential for validation method such as parameter of liniearitas (r), Instrument Detection Limit (IDL), Methode Detection Limit (MDL), accuracy, precision, Limit of Detection(LOD) and Limit of Quantitation(LOQ). The result of research obtain is good, showed that the linearity value with R2 ≥ 0,997. The IDL and MDL value was 0.0021 ppm and 0.0092 ppm respectively and has been acceptability requirements of MDL. The accuracy paramater obtained recovery value with range 82.25-88.34%. The measurement of repeatability and reproducibility, the CV Horwitz value smaller than % RSD, indicating the method had a good precision. The measurement of LOD and LOQ value was 0.095 ppm 0.317 ppm respectively. Based on the result of the research determination method of Mn in lubricating oil by direct dilution method using AAS concluded valid.

Abstract

A research about preparation and characterization of Plumbum (II) ion selective membrane using a PVC based on ethylene diamine tetraacetate as ionophores have been done. Ethylene diamine tetra acetate (EDTA) was able to coordinate with Pb2+ and increase the conductivity of the membrane. Ethylene diamine tetra acetate (EDTA) as the main ingredient mixed with polyvinylchloride (PVC) as a matrix whose first dissolved using tetrahydrofuran (THF), added dioctyl phat alate (DOP) as a plasticizer. The membrane was soaked with Pb2+ for 2 days and membrane absorption ability of EDTA to the metal dopant Pb2+, and measured using atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS). Membrane absorption ability of the dopant metal Pb2+ retrieved the percent absorption was 76.01 % at the optimum composition of the membrane with a ratio of EDTA: PVC: DOP is 60: 30: 10. EDTA membrane characterization results with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) showed specific functional groups on the membrane EDTA.
