Abstract

Strong winds that occur can damage the Eucalyptus pellita plant thereby reducing wood production at the end of the rotation. Biometric characteristics are very important to predict the criteria for trees that are at risk of damage due to wind. This study aims to determine the biometric characteristics that play a role in the risk of trees being damaged by wind. The study was conducted on Eucalyptus pellita aged 5 years. The biometric characteristics studied consisted of diameter at breast height (DBH), total height (H) and crown length (CL) as well as the ratio of H/DBH (slenderness inde)x and CL/H (percentage of  crown). Binary logistic regression analysis was used to analyized  the probability of tree damage due to wind. The results showed that the regression model with the independent variable H/DBH was a suitable model. The H/DBH ratio or tree slenderness index is a biometric characteristic that contributes 11,4% to explain the risk of wind damage.   Keywords: binary logistic regression ; percentage of  crown; slenderness index

Abstract

Eucalyptus sp is a type of exotic plant that is cultivated in Riau Fiber. Particularly in terms of soil, this Eucalyptus species was developed in soil management unit B and soil management unit C. Differences in variations in plant growth in the two land management units are not known with certainty because there is no accurate information. This research was conducted at the East Teso Estate which is one of the forest management units of Riau Fiber which included measuring tree height with variations in age of 6 months, 12 months and 18 months, as well as tree diameter and calculating the percentage of single trees with variations in age of 12 months and 18 months. in the land management unit B and soil management unit C which were tested using the t-test at a test level of 5%. The results showed that height growth had a significantly different effect on the two soil management units, namely 4.39 m in soil management unit B and 3.62 m in soil management unit C at 12 months of age and 6.43 m in soil management unit B and 5.87 m in soil management unit C at 18 months old. As for plant height at 6 months, diameter and percent of single trees aged 12 months and 18 months, the results were not significantly different in soil management unit B and soil management unit C.

Abstract

Inventory on Plantation Monitoring Assessment (PMA) Eucalyptus pellita at the aged of 30 months, measuring total height (h) and diameter at breast height (dbh). Height measurements were done using the Vertex. Measuring the total height of a tree whose crown has started to close (overlap)  requires more time to find the highest point of the tree, it is necessary to overcome it with a tool that is a height estimator model through the relationship between height and diameter at breast height (h-dbh). The study was conducted using two compartments of Eucalyptus pellita stands at the aged of 30 months. Sampling conducted by Systematic Sampling with Random Start. The data measured were total height (h) and diameter at breast height (dbh). Simple linear regression modeling h-dbh compiled for each compartment then carried out a goodness of fit test and validation using the Bias, SA and SR values, after that the regression line similarity was tested. The results showed that the two compartments have regression equations with the same slope and intercept, so that the two compartments can be threated as one dataset and the total height in the two compartments studied can be estimated using the equation h = 6,968 + 0,844 dbh.

Abstract

Community forests in Ngrayun District are dominated by pine (Pinus merkusii) mixed with various perennials, Multi-Purpose Tree Species (MPTS), and food crops managed with different cropping patterns. The importance of knowledge management and potential as input for farmers to increase farmers' income. This study aimed to determine pine-based community forests' management characteristics and potential for farmers' income in the Ngrayun District. This research was conducted by interviewing 36 farmers who met the criteria using a questionnaire guide, field inventory using measuring plots measuring 20 m x 20 m, and secondary data on sap yields from the Forest Farmers Group (KTH). The data analysis used is descriptive analysis supported by quantitative data. The results showed that planting consisted of pure, mixed trees along the border and random mixture cropping patterns. Pine maintenance is pruning branches and renewal of koakan every 3-5 days—the sap harvesting at the time of koakan renewal and a few days before sap weighing. Rubber marketing through KTH collaborates with CV Rimbun Sejahtera and CV Pinus Mulyo. The highest potential for pure pine pattern is 347.25 m3/ha, with sap yields of 78.56 kg/month with an income of Rp 707.040./month, and the lowest is mixed trees along the border with sap yield of 18.42 kg/month, and the monthly income Rp. 165.780.  It can be concluded that the management and potential of community forests affect farmers' incomes.Keywords: Community Forest, Income, Management, Pine, PotentialAbstrakHutan rakyat di Kecamatan Ngrayun didominasi oleh pinus (Pinus merkusii) yang dicampur dengan berbagai jenis tanaman keras, Multy Purpose Tree Spesies (MPTS) serta tanaman pangan yang dikelola dengan berbagai pola tanam. Pentingnya mengetahui pengelolaan dan potensi sebagai masukan bagi petani agar dapat meningkatkan pendapatan petani.  Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui karakteristik pengelolaaan dan potensi hutan rakyat berbasis pinus bagi pendapatan petani di Kecamatan Ngrayun. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan mewawancarai 36 petani  yang memenuhi kriteria menggunakan panduan kuisioner, inventarisasi dilapangan menggunakan petak ukur berukuran 20 m x 20 m, dan data sekunder hasil getah dari Kelompok Tani Hutan (KTH).  Analisis data yang digunakan yaitu analisis deskriptif didukung data kuantitati. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pengelolaan hutan rakyat penanaman terdiri pola tanam murni, campuran, trees along border dan random mixture. Pemeliharaan pinus yaitu pemangkasan cabang, pembaharuan koakan 3 – 5 hari sekali. Pemanenan getah saat pembaharuan koakan dan beberapa hari sebelum penimbangan getah. Pemasaran getah melalui KTH yang bekerjasama dengan CV Rimbun Sejahtera dan CV Pinus Mulyo. Potensi pinus paling tinggi pola murni 347,25 m3/ha hasil getah 78,56 kg/bulan dengan pendapatan Rp 707.040/bulan dan terendah pola trees along border 152,81 m3/ha hasil getah 18,42 kg/bulan dengan pendapatan Rp 165.780/bulan. Hal ini menunjukkan pengelolaan dan potensi hutan rakyat mempengaruhi pendapatan petani.Kata kunci: Hutan Rakyat, Pendapatan, Pengelolaan, Pinus, Potensi
