Abstract

The aim of this paper is to design and construct a Savonius windmill generating electrical energy in small scale. For generating power 100 watts at wind velocity 4 m/s are  find out dimensions of rotor 0.72 m of wide  and 0.8 m of height. Rotor is made in two series. The result of experiment at power and wind velocity planning are 51.8% of efficiency and 45.864 watts of power generating

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out of thermal characteristics of husk briquette with glue materials that is made of tapioca powder with content variations; 7%, 10% and 15%.This research used experiment method to find out of thermal characteristic consists of: High Heating Value HHV, Moisture content M, Ash content A, Volatile Matters content VM, Fixed Carbon Content FC and combustions efficiency. The result of investigations are; HHV = 2789 cal/g, M = 2.67%, A = 39.06 %, VM = 42.92%, FC= 15.53% and combustions efficiency 59.07%. All of them are find out from 7% of glue content materials.

Abstract

The aim of this research is  to find out of thermal characteristic of meranti wood dust briquette, that consist of High heating value (HHV), contents of Moisture (M),Ash (A),Volatile Matters (VM),Fixed Carbon (FC), combustion efficiency and emission gas product of combustions are ;carbon monoxides CO and Carbon dioxides CO2. This investigation is used experiment method to make char briquette of meranti wood dust and mixed with 10% of boil water, 5% of clay, 7% of tapioca and pressing force 2.5 Mpa. The result of investigations are; HHV 5731.10 kcal/kg. Ash 3.97%, Mouisture 1.72%, Volatile Matters 29.19%, Fixed Carbon 65.90 %, combustions efficiency 70.76% and emission gas product of combustions are CO 0.33% and CO2 1.36%, both of them are safe of human being according to WHO Standard.

Abstract

Background of this investigation is reasoned by fuel consumptions focusing on oil and gas which they are limited resource energy and its cost rising any time. On the other side,  available of biomass energy  is still overflow and within renewable resources. This research investigates thermal characteristic’s of cacao char briquette that consists of High Heating Value (HHV), Volatile Matters (VM), Moisture (M), Ash (A), thermal efficiency and emission gas of real combustions on briquette stove. The result of investigations are; HHV=6308.207 kcal/kg, VM=58,75%, M=3.27%,A=23.53%, FC= 25.55%, maximum thermal efficiency is 35.67% and emissions gas consist of CO and CO2 are  safe of  human being according to WHO Standard.
