In this research, the focus was to know the improvement of the students' skill in writing recount text especially based on the three aspects as mentioned above. After the implementation of this technique, the students' score was improved in each aspect. They also motivated when they were asking to write recount text based on the clustering that had made by them individually. The other strengths of this technique were that the students more enjoyed the processes of teaching and learning which made the classroom atmosphere became more alive, active and orderly. This method is interesting and easy to be implemented in the teaching and learning processes. In this technique, the students are excited and enjoy every activity in the class; they bring their all ability to find ideas, materials, and data to support their work in writing skill; they are eager to exchange their ideas when they do drafting; and they are more careful to write the text based on its, grammar, vocabulary, and mechanic in order to construct a good writing text. It means that by using clustering technique, the researcher and students achieved the goal in the teaching-learning process.

ABSTRAKPengabdian bertujuan untuk media penyampaian informasi terkait tentang literasi teknologi bagi masyarakat. Hal ini sangat penting selain untuk meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat terhadap internet sehat, kegiatan ini juga berupaya untuk meningkatkan kepekaan dan antusiasme masyarakat terhadap masalah-masalah yang kerap muncul pada pelayanan publik. Kegiatan dilaksanakan di Desa Nanga Tikan, Kecamatan Kayan Hilir, Kabupaten Sintang, Kalimantan Barat. Sasaran kegiatan PkM ini adalah para perangkat desa dan anggota Karang Taruna (pemuda) yang ada di Desa. Penentuan kriteria khalayak tersebut berdasarkan pengamatan bahwa generasi muda rentang dari umur 17 hingga 35 tahun adalah mereka yang gemar atau secara intensif memanfatkan internet atau sosial media. Bentuk PkM ini penyuluhan dan pelatihan kepada masyarakat tentang pengembangan media sosial. Penyuluhan dan pelatihan dilaksanakan pada tanggal 23 Oktober 2020 di Balai Desa Nanga Tikan dengan model ceramah dan demonstrasi pemanfaatan media sosial (internet). Hasil wawancara dengan kepala desa dan beberapa pemuda desa diperoleh respon sangat baik terhadap kegiatan ini. Hasil angket respon diperoleh hasil 95% dengan kategori sangat senang. Kesimpulan dari kegiatan yaitu sasaran kegiatan sangat puas terhadap pelatihan Journalis warga.Kata Kunci: Pelatihan, Journalis, Literasi, Teknologi, Media. ABSTRACTThe community service aimed to delivering information media related to technology literacy for the community. This is very important in addition to increasing public understanding of a good internet usage, this activity also seeks to increase the sensitivity and enthusiasm of the community towards problems that often arise in public services. The activity was carried out in Nanga Tikan Village, Kayan Hilir District, Sintang District, West Kalimantan. The targets of this PkM activity are village officials and members of the Karang Taruna (youth) in the village.The determination of the audience criteria is based on the observation that the younger generation, ranging from 17 to 35 year old, are those who like or intensively use the internet or social media. This form of PkM provides counseling and training to the community on social media development. Counseling and training was carried out on October 23, 2020 at the Nanga Tikan Village Hall with a lecture and demonstration model of the use of social media (internet). The results of interviews with the village head and several village youth received very good responses to this activity. The results of the response questionnaire were 95% with the very enthusiastic. The conclusion of the activity is that the target of the activity is very satisfied with the citizen journalism training.Keywords: Training, Journalists, Literacy, Technology, Media.

This study explored the impact of an integrated reading–speaking instructional model, From Text to Talk, on the critical-thinking, reading comprehension, and oral communication skills of 32 third-semester EFL students at STKIP Persada Khatulistiwa Sintang. Using a one-group pretest–posttest design, the students’ mean score rose from 45.88 (SD = 19.65) to 63.97 (SD = 11.70); a paired-samples t-test revealed a significant difference (t(31) = 10.65, p < .001) with a large effect size (Cohen’s d = 1.88). Qualitative interviews with six students uncovered key challenges — including anxiety, vocabulary and pronunciation issues, and classroom monotony — yet also highlighted gains in critical engagement, text interpretation, and spoken interaction. By triangulating quantitative and qualitative data, the study confirms that the integration of reading and speaking fosters deeper cognitive processing, authentic communication practice, and more consistent performance across learners. It further suggests the importance of scaffolded speaking tasks, emotionally safe environments, varied interactive activities, and recognition of reading as a springboard to oral reasoning in EFL instruction.

This community service program aims to strengthen the eco-tourism potential of Betang Ensaid Panjang by improving the English communication skills of local youths and cultural practitioners in Gemba Raya Village, Kelam Regency. Although the village possesses rich Dayak Desa cultural assets and strong community hospitality, limited English proficiency has hindered residents from effectively presenting their heritage to international visitors. To address this issue, the program provides tourism-oriented English training that emphasizes functional vocabulary, guiding expressions, cultural interpretation, and confidence-building strategies. The implementation combines classroom instruction, role-play simulations, storytelling practice, and field-based guiding activities that reflect real eco-tourism settings. The training is facilitated by lecturers supported by students. Through this approach, participants develop greater fluency, accuracy, and confidence in interacting with international tourists, enabling them to communicate cultural knowledge more effectively. The outcomes of this program are expected to enhance visitor satisfaction, expand economic opportunities, and strengthen community participation in sustainable, culturally grounded tourism development. Ultimately, the initiative contributes to positioning Gemba Raya Village as a model for community-based eco-tourism empowerment in West Kalimantan.

This study investigates the transformation of pedagogical competence among sixth-semester EFL pre-service teachers during a Teaching English to Young Learners (TEYL) practicum in kindergartens in Sintang. The study explores how sixth-semester English Language Education students from STKIP Persada Khatulistiwa navigate the shift from theoretical knowledge to real-life classroom practice in the even semester of Academic Year 2024/2025. Data were collected through reflective journals, semi-structured interviews, video recordings of teaching, and feedback from mentor teachers at partner kindergartens in Sintang. Using thematic analysis, findings reveal three key transformation stages: 1) Reality Shock confronting the gap between TEYL theories and under-resourced classrooms, 2) Contextual Adaptation developing strategies by integrating local culture, nature-based media, and children’s L1, and 3) Teacher Identity Formation shifting from “English instructor” to “facilitator of meaningful childhood experiences”. The study also identifies critical incidents that accelerate competence growth, including managing multilingual learners and teaching with technology. Implications suggest that TEYL practicum should be redesigned as a life-based experiential learning model rather than mere teaching drills. This research contributes to EFL teacher education discourse by linking pedagogical competence with social responsiveness.
