Abstract

Artikel ini merupakan pengabdian masyarakat yang bertujuan merekonstruksi pemahaman sejarah dan budaya bahari sebagai upaya mencegah pencemaran laut pada remaja di Pesisir Sungai Tuju-tuju, Sulawesi Selatan. Program ini menjadi sangat penting untuk dilakukan, berdasarkan observasi dan wawancara di lapangan, masalah pencemaran laut menjadi persoalan utama, biota laut yang hidup di sepanjang sungai tidak dapat bertahan hidup lama atau memilih bergesar ke daerah yang jauh dari garis pantai, akibatnya mengurangi pendapatan masyarakarat yang bekerja sebagai pemancing ikan (fa’mmeng), penangkap kepiting (faddakang), dan penjala ikan (fa’jala) di sungai. Metode yang digunakan dalam sosialisasi ini adalah 1) melakukan identifikasi masalah, 2) menyiapan materi sosialisasi berupa penyediaan buku sejarah dan budaya bahari mengenai pentingnya laut sebagai sumber kehidupan, 3) memberikan penjelasan kepada remaja tentang bahaya pencemaran laut, 4) menghimpun para remaja dan aparat desa untuk menyusun dan mempraktekkan dampak pencemaran lingkungan. Dengan bermitra dengan aparat desa, produk yang dihasilkan berupa pemahaman mengenai pentingnya menjaga sungai, serta pembuatan tempat sampah yang mudah diakses oleh masyarakat.

Abstract

This article discusses the importance of social capital in rural development. Social capital is deemed necessary in rural development activities because historical data shows that development carried out by the government of the Republic of Indonesia, especially during the New Order administration tended to neglect community participation, even though it was the community who would utilize the development results. Entering the era of reform, the direction of rural development underwent a paradigm shift, in which the community is no longer placed as an object, but has been positioned as the subject of development, which is more popularly known as development with the botton up approach. The paradigm is then elaborated on empirical reality by placing Tompobulu Village community as a locus of research. The results showed that the development activities in this village could run in accordance with expectations because they got the support of the community who synergized with the government, and placed social capital as the basic capital in implementing development.

Abstract

Pekerjaan menjadi pedagang antar pulau sulit dilakukan oleh banyak orang, selain menggunakan modal yang besar, memiliki pula resiko yang besar. Berbeda halnya dengan pedagang tuju-tuju yang terletak di wilayah Pantai Timur Sulawesi, menjadikan pekerjaan ini menjadi tradisi dari sanak keluarga mereka. Demi mempertahankan penetrasi ekonomi maka diperlukan strategi dalam menjalin hubungan dengan para pedagang yang tidak pernah bertemu secara langsung, adapun strateginya yaitu, lempu (jujur), getteng (nilai keteguhan dan keyakinan) dan materru’ (berani). Inilah yang dipegang teguh para pedagang Tuju-tuju saat bertransaksi dengan pedagang dari Nusa Tenggara Timur dan sekitarnya. Artikel ini bertujuan mengungkap strategi ekonomi pedagang dari tradisi keluarga yang dimiliki, dengan metode kualitatif dengan tipe deskriptif.Teknik pengumpulan data diperoleh dengan penelitian lapangan yang mencakup observasi, dokumentasi dan wawancara.Bahwa strategi ekonomi yang berasal dari tradisi keluarga berupa jujur, keyakinan, dan keberanian, mampu membuat masyarakat yang bekerja sebagai pedagang menjadi sukses. Hal tersebut dapat diukur dari akumulasi modal, kepemilikan barang dan jasa, dan investasi kerja yang terus menaik.

Abstract

The more advanced technology that humans use in their lives, it does affect behavior and lifestyle, including food consumption problems. Along with the increase of public income, consumption of fish products have been increased in both fresh fish and especially processed fish in a modern day. Barru District especially in Pancana village is one of the potential areas in the field of maritime and fisheries. Area of sea fishing and ponds around 56,160 Ha, pond 2,570 Ha beach 1,400 ha and pond cultivation area or freshwater 39 Ha. While the current fishery production is: shrimp (633.01 tonnes); Milkfish (, 552.08 tons); Cakalang/Cob (260.6 tonnes); Grouper/Snapper (744 tons); Red fish (97.02 tonnes); and seaweed (251.07 tons) that have been tested and are good enough. In the sub-district of Tanete Rilau Barru, several groups of fishermen, the village of its members cultivate milkfish and shrimp windu in ponds, ponds and cages using the technique of heavy water pond and in the rice fields (the system of Mina Padi and brackish). This is possible with the source of water originating from the location of natural waterfalls and baths in Tanete Riaja Sub-district located in the region. Given the potential, the development of seawater fish in this region has been developed by farmers or fishermen in recent years.

Abstract

Rural communities that have been touched by themomentum of democracy need to increase their awareness ofthe participation in the process of regional head electionsthrough political socialization. Political socialization isconsidered important in the process of political life. The aim ofthis program was to find out how to motivate people toparticipate in political succession through regional elections inSinjai Regency. The output of this program was to fostercommunity awareness to participate in creating a peaceful anddemocratic local election. The method used was deliveringpresentation to the public about the importance of participationin realizing a peaceful and democratic election. It was foundthat the understanding of the community in realizing apeaceful and democratic election was still lack. Theparticipants had a high level of enthusiasm in participating thissocialization which was proved by asking various electionrelatedquestions.

Abstract

This service activity aims to provide understanding to the community, especially teenagers in Tarasu Village to be smart and careful in spreading and responding to news spread on social media, especially Facebook. The methods used are lectures, question and answer, and discussion. The material presented was the introduction of institutions, socialization of the Law on Information and Electronic Transactions (UU ITE), socialization of filters before sharing, delivery of wise social media methods, and screening of short films. This activity received a warm welcome and was followed enthusiastically by the community. Teenagers understand that using Facebook must pay attention to ethics. Thus, media literacy is an effort to educate adolescents in using social media as well as the legal consequences that can be accepted when abusing social media.

Abstract

The purpose of this community service activity is to provide an understanding to the community about the need to implement the Healthy Living Community Movement (Germas) by keeping the environment clean and consuming good and healthy food and drinks. The method used is the method of socialization, education, and community performance through community service activities. The results of the dedication show that this activity received the attention and support of the government and the community of Bulutellue Village. Based on observations at the community service location, the community has adopted a healthy lifestyle as an implementation of Germas.
