Abstract

The widespread use of celular phones and SMS has spawned a variety of new word formation. These new words raise a language variety that leads to various interpretations. This is because the abbreviations and perpetuate sentences tend to "violate" graphological and syntactic rules, and the influence of psycholinguistics in the use of these abbreviations. This is because the creativity of the language community is very expressive and subjective regardless of the linguistic acceptability. The unacceptability is caused by the irregular shortenning of words. Keywords: SMS language, graphologist, syntax, psycholinguistics

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic that hit Indonesia in early March 2021 brought significant changes to the national economy, including micro, small and medium enterprises. One of the policies carried out by the government to reduce the impact of the pandemic is by providing economic stimulus in the form of tax incentives for business actors. The social environment in the concept of taxation is that humans will see the surrounding environment which should understand taxation. Tax incentives and the social environment given to business actors will affect their tax compliance. This study aims to empirically examine the effect of tax incentives and the social environment on tax compliance. The population studied by SME in Padang City and the sampling method used in this study was purposive sampling. The samples obtained were 146 companies and the data collected were tested using multiple regression. The test results show that tax incentives and social environment have an effect on tax compliance.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the effect of directive speech acts used by teachers on the formation of student character in the learning process during the Covid-19 pandemic. The theory regarding directive speech acts in this study is based on sociopragmatic theory. The implemented research methodology is descriptive qualitative with 8 conditions, namely: 1) when entering class, 2) when starting a lesson, 3) during learning, 4) when giving assignments to students, 5) when asking assignments to students, 6) when asking students to correct assignments, 7) when concluding a lesson, and 8) when ending a lesson. The research data were obtained from teachers who teach Indonesian at the senior high school level in West Sumatra through questionnaires distributed using the Google form. The number of respondents who collected as many as 276 respondents. Based on the data collected, it was found that the directive speech acts used by the teacher resulted in the formation of students' character as many as 8 character pillars, namely: religious, honest, responsible, independent, curious, respectful, hard working, and disciplined. The most dominant character that appears is the character of responsibility. This behavior is reflected in the daily attitude of students in carrying out the mandate given as well as possible, such as doing assignments given by the teacher. The implications of this research can be used as a reference for character assessment. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pengaruh tindak tutur direktif yang digunakan guru terhadap pembentukan karakter siswa dalam proses pembelajaran selama pandemi Covid-19. Teori mengenai tindak tutur direktif dalam penelitian ini berlandaskan pada teori sosiopragmatik. Metodologi penelitian yang diimplementasikan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan 8 kondisi yaitu: 1) pada saat memasuki kelas, 2) pada saat memulai pelajaran, 3) pada pembelajaran berlangsung, 4) pada saat memberikan tugas kepada siswa, 5) pada saat meminta tugas kepada siswa, 6) pada saat meminta kepada siswa untuk memperbaiki tugas, 7) pada saat menyimpulkan pelajaran, dan 8) pada saat mengakhiri pelajaran. Data penelitian diperoleh dari guru-guru yang mengajar bahasa Indonesia tingkat SMA di Sumatera Barat melalui kuesioner yang disebarkan dengan google form. Jumlah responden yang terkumpul sebanyak 276 responden. Berdasarkan data yang terkumpul diperoleh hasil bahwa tindak tutur direktif yang digunakan guru menghasilkan pembentukan karakter siswa sebanyak 8 pilar karakter yaitu: religius, jujur, tanggung jawab, mandiri, rasa ingin tahu, menghargai, kerja keras, dan disiplin. Karakter yang paling dominan muncul adalah   karakter tanggung jawab. Perilaku ini tercermin dari sikap siswa sehari-hari dalam menjalankan amanah yang diberikan dengan sebaik-baiknya, seperti mengerjakan tugas-tugas yang diberikan guru. Implikasi penelitian ini dapat dijadikan sebagai rujukan penilaian karakter.

Abstract

The lack of use of learning models that are attractive to students is one of the factors causing the low reading ability of students in class, especially elementary school students. This research aims to improve students' reading skills using the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) model for class III students at SDN 29 Gantiang Utara Padang. This type of research is classroom action research with a qualitative and quantitative approach. Research procedures are planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The research subjects were 26 class III students who carried out two cycles. Research data is in the form of objective tests and observation results from all actions. Observation and test data collection techniques. The research results increased students' reading skills learning outcomes in cycle I by 65.3%, this was because many students were not able to read correctly and fluently. Meanwhile, in cycle II there was an increase of 77%, because the learning implementation process was appropriate. From the research results it can be concluded that learning Indonesian using the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) model can improve the reading skills of class III students at SD Negeri 29 Gantiang Utara Padang.

Abstract

Although writing skills occupy a central position in the Kurikulum Merdeka, students’ ability to produce procedural texts remains limited due to teacher-centred instructional methods and low learning motivation. This study aimed to analyze the effects of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model and learning motivation on procedural text writing achievement among Phase D, Grade VII students at UPT SMP Negeri 1 Pulau Punjung, as well as to examine the interaction between these variables. A quantitative approach was employed using a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The sample was determined through cluster random sampling, resulting in one experimental class taught using PjBL and one control class taught using conventional instruction. Data were collected through a performance test in writing procedural texts and a learning motivation questionnaire, and analyzed using t-tests and ANOVA. The findings showed that PjBL had a significant effect on improving procedural text writing skills, with the experimental class achieving a mean score of 88.21, higher than the control class mean of 73.06 (t = 7.530 > t_critical = 2.002). Among highly motivated students, the experimental class mean score of 85.21 also exceeded the control class mean of 77.00 (t = 4.488 > t_critical = 2.048), whereas among low-motivation students, the experimental class mean score of 91.21 surpassed the control class mean of 68.87 (t = 7.113 > t_critical = 2.052). In addition, there was a significant interaction between the instructional model and learning motivation (F = 56.698 > F_critical = 4.01), indicating that the effectiveness of PjBL was reinforced across different motivation levels. The study concludes that implementing PjBL effectively enhances procedural text writing skills through contextual, project-oriented learning experiences and underscores the importance of integrating active learning strategies with motivation management within the framework of the Kurikulum Merdeka. The implications include theoretical contributions to project-based writing pedagogy and practical recommendations for teachers and educational institutions to design teaching modules that are adaptive to students’ psychological profiles, while opening avenues for further research on the use of digital media in PjBL for other text genres.
