Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between Hasan Al-Banna’s thoughts and the practice of Islamic education at Sekolah Islam Terpadu Ukhuwah Banjarmasin. This is a qualitative research by combining literature study and field study and conducted at that Islamic school. The data is collected through observation, interviews and literature study. The analysis reveals that the of Islamic education at Sekolah Islam Terpadu Ukhuwah Banjarmasin not only has a relationship with Hasan Al-Banna’s thoughts, but has an emotional and ideological connectedness to the Muslim Brotherhood and Partai Keadilan Sejahtera (PKS). In addition, the practice of Islamic education at the school has ideological and applicative relevance to Al-Banna’s educational thinking. His thoughts become the ideological foundation of the school and then implemented in its curriculum and educational process. Specifically, the inspiration of the school’s educational practice comes from the Tarbiyah movement of the Muslim Brotherhood. It can be concluded that Sekolah Islam Terpadu Ukhuwah Banjarmasin makes Al-Banna’s religious ideology the foundation of its education, and, furthermore, is the actualization of the Tarbiyah Movement and the media for the educational actualization of Partai Keadilan Sejahtera (PKS).Keywords: Hasan Al-Banna; Islamic Education; Integrated Islamic School

Abstract

The theme presented in this article is not a new one and is fairly commonplace in countless studies of Islamic philosophy. However, the description in this article is written with a special emphasis, namely that Islamic philosophy is an attempt to explain religious teaching philosophically and that philosophy is useful for defending religious doctrines through rational-demonstrative arguments. This emphasis is present amidst the persistence of negative sentiments and even rejection raised by some Muslims, as well as criticism from philosophical reviewers who doubt the originality of religious philosophy. For this reason, the author tries to present a brief history of the emergence of Islamic philosophy along with the motives that prompted Muslim scholars to build this philosophy and the influence that surrounded it. Next, the author will explain how Muslim philosophers proved the originality of their philosophy. Everything is conveyed to state that Islamic philosophy is not as alleged by its opponents.

Abstract

Abstract This article raises the thoughts of Michel Foucault on the relationship between knowledge and power, as well as describes this relationship in the form of discourse analysis. For Foucault, knowledge is a discourse whose truth is covered by a power. Therefore, discourse cannot be seen as it is, but it is the duty of every reader or listener of discourse to dismantle the structure of discourse that is expressed through languge. Every knowledge, then, falls within the sphere of power relations. Efforts to expose this discourse are through an analytical technique that Foucault’s readers often call “discourse analysis”. Because knowledge is ubiquitous and humans impart and absorb knowledge through knowledge, discourse is everywhere, be it in the fields of philosophy, science, religion, economics, politic and in education. There have been many researchers and reviewers who have applied Foucault’s discourse analysis technique in the field of education. However, in this article I will try to apply this method in the field of education in a broader scope as well as close to everyday life. Abstrak Artikel ini mengangkat pemikiran Michel Foucault tentang hubungan antara pengetahuan dan kekuasaan, sekaligus menjabarkan hubungan tersebut dalam bentuk analisis wacana. Bagi Foucault, pengetahuan adalah wacana (discourse) yang kebenarannya dilingkupi oleh suatu kekuasaan. Oleh karena itu, wacana tidak bisa dilihat sebagaimana adanya, melainkan tugas bagi setiap pembaca atau penyimak wacana untuk membongkar bangunan wacana yang terungkap melalui bahasa. Setiap pengetahuan, dengan demikian, berada dalam ruang lingkup relasi kuasa. Upaya untuk membongkar wacana tersebut adalah melalui suatu teknik analisis yang kerap para pembaca Foucault sebut dengan “analisis wacana”. Karena pengetahuan ada di mana-mana dan manusia menyampaikan dan menyerap pengetahuan melalui bahasa, wacana ada di mana-mana pula, baik di bidang filsafat, sains, agama, ekonomi, politik maupun di bidang pendidikan. Sudah banyak peneliti dan pengkaji yang menerapkan teknik analisis wacana Foucault ini dalam bidang pendidikan. Meski demikian, pada artikel ini saya akan mencoba menerapkan metode tersebut di bidang pendidikan dalam ruang lingkup yang lebih luas sekaligus dekat dengan keseharian. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menegaskan apa yang Foucault telah nyatakan bahwa ada relasi antara pengetahuan dan kekuasaan. Kata kunci: wacana, relasi kuasa, analisis wacana, pendidikan.
