Abstract

The improvement of security in politics and new media calls for fast action. Recent cases indicate that political position and rights to communication using new media cannot be guaranteed due to the problem of security. The reasons rest on the way the people get into politics and the aims they use new media. The following article explores how ethics may solve the problem of security, starting from ethics in democracy, politics, and new media, the causes of ethics violations, and attitudes for coping with security problems.

Abstract

This article describes the role and involvement of media in reporting disaster. Media involvement in giving people information on disaster should based on human safety, security and dignity. This paper suggests that media report on pre, during and after a disaster should consider human values at the first priority.

Abstract

(Press Between Two Neighbouring Countries) Cultural differences between the Indonesian and Australian media sometimes create complaints and tensions. While the Australian media are generally regarded as being aggressive, fond of conflict, eager to get to the core of issues quickly and playing "supervisory" role, the Indonesian media are portrayed as being governments microphone and leaving the fact and the truth. The problem to be discussed centre on how the various views of the neighbouring countries press emerge. By brushing aside the reasons to rationalise and the existed opinions, this paper shows that both the Indonesian and Australian press have implemented a good professional standard of journalism.

Abstract

This article examines the relationship between the government and the media, arguing that both the government and the media workers can create a compact cooperation against terrorism. This can be used for combating the media strategy applied by the terrorist groups which tend to enjoy conflict with violence to spread their propaganda. Matrixing the changing faces of terrorism and the medias role in a conflict helps to facitilitate the government in handling terrorism.

Abstract

The development of communication rests on the ability to meet the requirements of the government, industry, public and academic motives. Nonetheless, as it also happens in Indonesia, there are five factors that tend to reduce the development. The presence of new media creates another problem in this case. This article presents some endeavors focusing on research to anticipate the development.

Abstract

A dictum initiated by the Palo Alto group literally reads one cannot not communicate allows us to examine the existence of the communication study. The biographical approach used by Rogers leads us to understand the emergence of the study pioneered by Darwin, Freud and Marx followed by the current development in the US. Nevertheless, by tracing the humanistic origins of the rhetoric tradition, there has been an unchained history between the rhetoric tradition and the print age of communication. This essay analyses the existence of the communication study through the history-biographical approach and the related researches.

Abstract

ABSTRACTApproach model of local government in managing local development that has not been integrated so that the implementation of development programs so far has not fully realize a prosperous society in Kolaka regency. This research aims to describe the implementation of rural development, identify the factors inhibiting and driving the implementation of rural development, and describe the factors that determine the effectiveness of the implementation of rural development programs in Kolaka regency. The research design was a descriptive with qualitative approach. The results showed that the implementation of rural development programs through Gerbangmastra program entirely not maximized, because there are still obstacles that impede the achievement of objectives adequately. Public private partnerships, socialization of program development and community participation very determine the effectiveness of achieving objectives rural development through the implementation of Gerbangmastra programs. Public private partnership in the implementation of the program is not maximized, socialization of program uneven and community participation is still low, so the effectiveness of the achievement of development objectives through the implementation of Gerbangmastra program not maximized.Keywords:  public-private partnerships, socialization of program, community participation, development program, effectiveness.

Abstract

Popularitas penggunaan media sosial di masyarakat telah mengubah lanskap industri media secara signifikan. Media sosial memungkinkan penggunanya menjadi produsen konten di berbagai topik, termasuk informasi hiburan (infotainment). Infotainment yang mulanya lebih dikenal dalam bentuk siaran program televisi atau tertulis di majalah/tabloid hiburan bertransformasi dalam bentuk baru di media sosial, sebagaimana tergambar dalam akun Instagram @lambe_turah. Dengan menggunakan metode etnografi virtual sebagai pendekatannya, kajian ini bertujuan untuk memahami aktivitas serta sentimen pesan yang disampaikan netizen terhadap konten yang diunggah akun @lambe_turah. Selain itu, kajian ini juga bertujuan untuk melihat peran netizen dalam proses transmisi informasi tersebut.
