Abstract

This research aims to determine; (1) The effect of the mixture of rice husk charcoal briquettes with hazelnut shell charcoal on boiling time, (2) The effect of the mixture of rice husk charcoal briquettes with hazelnut shell charcoal on the net power (Pout) (3) The effect of the mixture of rice husk charcoal briquettes with hazelnut shell charcoal on the loss of power in the furnace, (4) The effect of a mixture of rice husk charcoal briquettes with hazelnut shell charcoal on the resulting thermal efficiency. The research method used is an experimental method using rice husk charcoal with candlenut shell charcoal for testing on the stove. The results showed that the most superior mixture of rice husk charcoal briquettes with hazelnut shells was found in B3 briquettes (a mixture of 40% rice husk charcoal and 40% hazelnut shells) resulted in boiling time in the 55th minute, clean power 0,24 kW, loss of power 0,098 KW and thermal efficiency of 40.45%.

Abstract

Customary ritual of rambu solo’ in Toraja is based on noble values of culture that influences life pattern of Toraja people. Current development has changed the way of life and thinking of Toraja people to customary ceremony. Basic understanding is needed in interpreting the ceremonies. This paper discusses the meaning of ritual text myth that is represented by buffalo meeting. Participant observation methods used with field notes, recording, and interview techniques completed the data collection. The data were analyzed interpretatively by semiotic approach. The ritual text of the buffalo meeting ceremony in rambu solo’ ceremony is a symbolic form, parallelism, and metaphor which also constructs the meaning of customary ritual myth. Through the ritual remarks on the seven types of buffalo in the ceremony of rambu solo’ indicating views, concepts, and motivations are used as guidelines for life for Toraja people. The result of the research shows that, (1) the customary ritual text of buffalo meeting is symbolic, parallelism, and metaphor characteristics that represent myth meaning, (2) customary ritual text of buffalo meeting is to construct myth and ideology about Toraja character value. The value of the characters is represented by the seven types of buffalo in the customary ritual ma'tammu tedong namely, (a) balian buffalo represented as a leader figure or role model; (b) bonga buffalo as torch in human life of Toraja; (c) pudu’ buffalo as guardians in maintaining the life of the Toraja; (d) todi’ buffalo as a unifier that strengthens kinship ties; (e) sokko’ buffalo describes a polite and humble person; (f) tekken langi’ buffalo as a safeguard that reconciles the Toraja over the conflict; (g) sambao’ buffalo as customary guardians for customary offenses. Those values indicate the existence of the relation between man and Almighty and man with others. Also, they strengthen the character of human life of the Toraja and nation character.

Abstract

Studi Eksperimen Limbah Buah Pinus Sebagai Sumber Energi Alternatif Ditinjau Dari Variasi Butiran. Dibimbing oleh Dosen Sallolo Suluh, ST., MT. dan Ir. Petrus Sampelawang., MT. Penelitian ini bertujuan (1) Mengetahui kemampuan nilai kalor pada briket arang buah pinus ditinjau dari variasi butiran (2) Mengetahui efisiensi thermal pada briket arang buah pinus ditinjau dari variasi butiran. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu metode eksperimental dengan memanfaatkan limbah buah pinus sebagai bahan bakar pada kompor untuk mendidihkan air. Hasil pengujian nilai kalor didapatkan Briket 1 yaitu 5721 cal/gr, briket 2 sebesar 5340 cal/gr dan briket 3 sebesar 5686 cal/gr. Hasil pengujian pembakaran menunjukkan bahwa briket 3 yang paling unggul dalam hal mendidihkan air sebanyak 3 (tiga) kali) dan efisiensi pembakaran sebesar 43,58% disusul briket 2 sebesar 33,18% dan briket 1 sebesar 32,17%

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan (1) Untuk mengetahui nilai kalor dari briket arang buah pinus dengan sekam padi berdasarkan komposisi bahan. (2) Untuk mengetahui efisiensi thermal pembakaran briket arang campuran buah pinus dengan sekam padi berdasarkan komposisi bahan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan metode experimental dengan memanfaatkan campuran buah pinus dengan sekam padi komposisi campuran bahan yang telah dicetak dan menghasilkan bentuk briket sarang tawon sebagai bahan bakar pada kompor untuk mendidihkan air. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Laboratorium nutrisi dan makanan ternak Fakultas Peternakan Universitas Hasanuddin dan Laboratorium teknik mesin UKI Toraja. Hasil uji nilai kalor rata - rata yaitu briket KK1 diperoleh 6023 Cal/gr, KK2 diperoleh 5861.33 Cal/gr, KK3 5652.66 Cal/gr. Hasil uji pembakaran pada 3 jenis briket yang berbeda menunjukkan bahwa briket KK1 yang paling unggul dalam hal kemampuan untuk mendidihkan air yaitu sebanyak lima kali dan efisiensi pembakarannya sebesar 62.7%, kemudian briket KK2 mendidihkan air sebanyak dua kali dengan efisiensi sebesar 25 % dan paling rendah yaitu briket KK3 mendidihkan air sebanyak dua kali dengan efisiensi sebesar 22 %.

Abstract

Surface roughness is an important aspect in machining that affects the appearance and function of the product. This study examines the effect of spindle speed and depth of cut on the surface roughness of ST 42 steel using HSS tools. Workpieces with a length of 300 mm and a diameter of 25 mm were processed with variations in spindle speed of 250, 350, and 450 rpm and depths of cut of 0.6, 0.7, and 0.8 mm. Roughness measurements were carried out using a surface tester. The results showed that at 250 rpm, the surface roughness was 0.0554 μm, at 350 rpm, 0.0517 μm, and at 450 rpm, 0.0416 μm. For the depth of cut, the roughness values were 0.0509 μm (0.6 mm), 0.0523 μm (0.7 mm), and 0.0542 μm (0.8 mm), respectively. The conclusion shows that increasing spindle speed reduces surface roughness, while depth of cut has a less significant effect.
