Abstract

Jihad as a popular term in Islam has the meaning of struggle with the intention and sincerity for good, but the meaning of jihad, which has the value of struggle, in practice has different understandings and practices between groups in Islam. This research is qualitative in nature which aims to determine the meaning of the word jihad and to find out its implementation in the life of the state in Indonesia. Library research was chosen as a data mining method, the approach used is a phenomenological approach with image theory as the blade of analysis. There are various meanings of the word jihad, some groups with a textual Islamic perspective interpret jihad as a physical struggle that can lead to bloody conflict. Contrary to that, contextual Islamic groups understand jihad as a struggle that is not only physical, but various dimensions of struggle by seeing the condition of society as a broad and more valuable jihad field. Today, jihad is interpreted more practically by applying Islamic values ​​in everyday life, such as fashion, language, social relationships and so on. This phenomenon was then popularly called "hijrah" and became a trend in middle-class Islamic societies in Indonesia.

Abstract

The writing of this paper aims to find out the problem of women's political representation in the Provincial DPRD of NTB in 2019. To examine the results of this study, social theory was used to answer how the factors that caused the fail incumbent of the female legislative candidates provincial DPRD in general election 2019 structurally and culturally. This study uses a behavioral approach, with two data sources, primary data sources and secondary data sources. Sources of primary data obtained from observations, interviews with the people concerned in the research according to the research focus, and documentation. There are three informants in this study who are incumbent of the female legislative candidates who failed to occupy the 2019 Provincial DPRD seats from the PKB party Hj. Nurlaela, the Democratic party Hj. Misfalah, and the Nasdem party Hj. Suryahartin. The results of this study indicate that the fail incumbent of the female legislative candidates provincial DPRD in general election 2019 is caused by three factors including: system constraints faced by Hj. Suryahartin, socio-cultural problems faced by H. Nurlaela, and economics or psychology faced by Hj. Misfalah points out that political system constraints are an obstacle to female legislative candidates who fail to occupy seats as members of the Provincial People's Legislative Assembly. This is influenced by several factors, both external and internal.

Abstract

Abstrak Ekspansi militer Islam menurut Montgomerry Watt disebut sebagai jihad atau perang suci tidaklah mutlak kebenarannya, karena tidak ada misi agama yang khusus dalam hal ini Islam, tuduhan bahwa Islam disebarkan dengan kekuatan senjata dan bahwa orang-orang disuruh memeluk ‘Islam atau pedang’, hanya benar pada batas tertentu. Muawwiyah memegang jabatan sebegai khalifah pertama dinasti Umayyah dengan penuh pada periode 660-680 M, daerah yang berhasil ditaklukan kembali adalah front Timur dikendalikan oleh Panglima dan Gubernur Ziyad bin Abih yang setelah menaklukan Mekran, Sizistan, dan Kabul juga berhasil ke Sugdiana, (Barangkali Shughud daerah kekuasaan salah satu anak suku dari bangsa Turki), ekspedisi ini dipimpin oleh putranya Ziyad bin Abih dan Ubaidillah. Terlepas dari beberapa kontroversi yang terjadi pada masa dinasti Umayyah, sekiranya dapat diakui bahwa ekspansi terluas bangsa Arab terjadi pada era dinasti Umayyah ini. Berbicara mengenai sejarah, suatu kajian tentang masa lampau perlu kiranya rujukan yang matang, ini biasanya menjadi kendala karena sedikitnya sejarah yang mencatat keotentikan peristiwa. Pada masa ini pula Islam mengembangkan sayapnya jauh ke Afrika Timur, Eropa, Asia guna memperlancar dakwah Islam Kata Kunci : Ekspansi, Bani Umayyah, Politik Islam

Abstract

The development of Islamic legal-political thought in Indonesia has been focused on post-independence Islamic thinkers, leaving a significant academic gap in exploring pre-independence intellectual figures such as Haji Oemar Said (H.O.S) Tjokroaminoto. His perspective on socialism—distinct from Western Marxist materialism—provides an early model of Islamic socialism rooted in maqāṣid syarī‘ah principles. Tjokro also introduced three aphorisms as a private effort to encourage Muslim be perfect, namely: setinggi-tinggi ilmu, semurni-murni tauhid, dan sepintar-pintar siasat. This article aims to critically revisit Tjokroaminoto’s thoughts on socialism through a legal-historical method, focusing on his seminal work Islam dan Sosialism, supported by Tafsir Program dan Tandhim Syarikat Islam and Reglement Ummat Islam. Primary sources are analyzed using historical, conceptual, and comparative approaches framed within maqāṣid syarī‘ah theory. The findings reveal that Tjokroaminoto conceptualized socialism as inherently Islamic, emphasizing justice, equality, fraternity, and moral responsibility—not through class struggle but through collective ethical obligation grounded in tawḥīd and communal welfare. He redefined socialism as spiritual-ethical governance aligned with prophetic values, such as zakat, ukhuwah (brotherhood), and strategic intelligence (siyasah). These views form what may be considered a proto-model of Islamic governance in response to colonial capitalism. The study implies that contemporary Islamic legal-political thought in Indonesia must not neglect foundational nationalist-Islamic ideas that anticipated maqāṣid-based governance and social justice long before postcolonial discourses. Perkembangan pemikiran hukum-politik Islam di Indonesia seringkali berfokus pada para pemikir Islam pasca-kemerdekaan, sehingga menyisakan kesenjangan akademis yang signifikan dalam mengeksplorasi tokoh-tokoh intelektual pra-kemerdekaan seperti Haji Oemar Said (H.O.S) Tjokroaminoto. Perspektifnya tentang sosialisme—yang berbeda dari materialisme Marxis Barat—memberikan model awal sosialisme Islam yang berakar pada prinsip-prinsip maqāṣid syarī‘ah. Tjokro juga memperkenalkan tiga kata mutiara sebagai upaya pribadi untuk mendorong umat Islam menjadi sempurna, yaitu: ilmu setinggi-tinggi, semurni-murni tauhid, dan sepintar-pintar siasat.  Artikel ini bertujuan untuk meninjau kembali secara kritis pemikiran Tjokroaminoto tentang sosialisme melalui metode sejarah hukum, dengan fokus pada karya pemikirannya, Islam dan Sosialisme, yang didukung oleh Tafsir Program dan Tandhim Syarikat Islam dan Reglement Ummat Islam. Sumber-sumber primer dianalisis menggunakan pendekatan historis, konseptual, dan komparatif yang dibingkai dalam teori maqāṣid syarī‘ah. Temuan penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa Tjokroaminoto mengonseptualisasikan sosialisme sebagai sesuatu yang inheren Islami, menekankan keadilan, kesetaraan, persaudaraan, dan tanggung jawab moral—bukan melalui perjuangan kelas, melainkan melalui kewajiban etis kolektif yang berlandaskan tauhid dan kesejahteraan komunal. Ia mendefinisikan ulang sosialisme sebagai tata kelola spiritual-etika yang selaras dengan nilai-nilai profetik, seperti zakat, ukhuwah (persaudaraan), dan kecerdasan strategis (siyasah). Pandangan-pandangan ini membentuk apa yang dapat dianggap sebagai proto-model tata kelola Islam dalam menanggapi kapitalisme kolonial. Studi ini menyiratkan bahwa pemikiran hukum-politik Islam kontemporer di Indonesia tidak boleh mengabaikan gagasan-gagasan nasionalis-Islam fundamentalis yang mengantisipasi tata kelola berbasis maqāṣid dan keadilan sosial jauh sebelum wacana pascakolonial muncul.
