Abstract

The students response is one tool in determining the methods and media of learning, so that it becomes a reference in achieving the success of a learning process. This research was conducted in order to determine the response of students in class XII TKJ 2 Smk Bina Insan Bangsa Ngamprah Bandung, on the use of Instagram in teaching reading news items texts. Thirsty one students were made researchers as research objects, consisting of 14 male students and 17 female students. The data obtained in this study were observation data and questionnaire data of student responses. the method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method, to get the answers to the problems studied. The results revealed  74.8% of students who gave positive responses to the use of Instagram in teaching reading news items texts, because learning activities with the use of Instagram were more interesting, interactive, and fun for students, and as many as 25.2% of students who gave negative responses in the use of Instagram in teaching reading text news items, because there are deficiencies in the use of Instagram, which is related to some students who need difficulties in terms of text content due to lack of vocabulary mastery. Keywords:  Students Responses, Instagram, Reading News Item Text

Abstract

Listening is one of basic skill in English. Many of students feel difficult to learn listening especially in English. Using a multimedia as a teaching media is important in this process. It can catch students attention of the lesson. This research discusses improving listening skill using application “Learning English by Listening” as learning media for grade 10 Pharmancy SMK Kesehatan Fajar Kencana. This study is Classroom Action Research. This research uses several instruments such as test used for pretest and posttest and observation. This study involved 39 students as the respondent of the research. This study using Learn English By Listening application to improve students listening skill. Students scores in listening skill at the pretest and posttest were namely the mean score of pretest is 6.34 and the mean score of posttest was 6.97. In the last score it increased to 8.18. The students were very enthusiastic in this learning.

Abstract

This research has purpose to prove the effectiveness of using debate in teaching speaking at eighth grade of SMP Bina Mulia Mandiri West Bandung academic year 2019/2020. The method used in this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) using two cycles explained through planning, implementing, observation, and reflection on every cycle. The outcome of the research proved that there was an improvement on the students’ speaking skill. It could be proved by the result of the test in this research. The Minimum Score that must be gained by students (KKM) of English lesson was 70. The students mean score was 50 at the first pretest, and 65 in the first post test, and in the second post test the mean of the students score was 85. In addition there were 3 students (8.8%) who exceed the minimum score on pre test. There were 9 students at the first pretest (26.47%) who surpassed KKM. There were 31 students at the second pretest (91.18%) who exceed KKM. Then, from the result of observation and interview the students stated positive responses. The students can be more active and improve their confident for uttering their ideas. The writer conclude that debate technique was effective in teaching speaking English. Keywords:  Speaking, CAR, Debate Technique

Abstract

This research paper aims at finding whether the students’ ability in listening can be improved by activating students’ previous knowledge. The research was conducted at English education study program of faculty of IKIP Siliwangi Bandung. The research used random sampling class and test by giving pretest and post test. Two classes are experimental class and control class, when the experimental class  got a better score than control class.The experimental class was increased in listening ability. Most of the student’s of experimental class students’ stay in fair category.

Abstract

Media in learning process is very intact because it will be supported from  the learning to be more easily exposed. Many experts say that with the media, it can help teachers and students in the learning process to be able and achieve the goals of the learning process. This research aimed it introducing and describing how the  preparation and utilization of the flash cards media are used by teachers in teaching English to young learners. This research was conducted at SDN Baros Mandiri 2 Cimahi. The method used in this research is the descriptive research in accordance with the case study that occurred. The source of the data was the English teacher and the subjects were the second grade students of SDN Baros Mandiri 2 Cimahi. Observation, interviews and documentation are the data collection techniques used in this research. The findings reveal that teachers use flash card media according to the material to be delivered to young learners. Based on the results of the research the flash card media can help facilitate teachers in the delivery of learning material, students are also more enthusiastic, excited and very happy to learn English and very influential in the teaching and learning process.  Keywords:  instructional media, utilization of instructional media, flash Card
