Abstract

The direct seedling method still has many obstacles i.e. 1) sensitive to kinetic energy of raindrop and irrigation, that it randomize the row of plant, 2) susceptible to rat and bird attack, 3) faster weed growth compare to the cultivated plants and 4) direct seedling machine results the random plant row spacing.  The objectives of this research were (1) to know the effect of organic planting ribbon made from enceng gondok and stem of banana on the growth and the yield of rice, (2) to test the effect of decayer fiber materials (urea and ZA) on the growth and the yield of rice. This research was used factorial randomized block design with 3 replications. The first factor was the type of  decayer fiber materials which consist of urea (U) and ZA (Z) and the second factor was organic planting ribbon composition, consisted of (K1) 0% stem of banana, 100% enceng gondok, (K2) 10% stem of banana, 90% enceng gondok, (K3) 20% stem of banana, 80% enceng gondok.  The result of this research showed that the composition of 80% enceng gondok, 20% stem of banana,  and 5 gram ZA resulted the best growth of rice (plant height) and yield of rice (number of panicle per hill and number of grain per panicle).  ZA was better decayer fibre materials compared to urea based on  the growth of rice (plant height and number of tiller per hill) and yield of rice (number of grain per panicle, percentage sheel of rice content (%), wet weight of  rice per panicle (g) and dry weight of rice per panicle (g).Keywords: rice, plant organic ribbon, enceng gondok, stem of banana

Abstract

Problem in using polybag for the seed container is the necessity of seed replacement into field that still uses cutting or tearing method of polybag. Unfortunately, the methods cause to rooting damages or the root will be sheared. Koesriharti (1987) reports that seed dying often occurs after replacement, or the growth will be prohibited for the rooting system have been failed. Other problem in using polybag is waste consideration, because polybag composites of polyester. An alternative to reduce plastic matters is by decreasing the use of polybag. Nowadays, the use and research on planting pouch from organic substance are developed. Instead of less dangerous to environment and cheaper, it increases humus desired by plants. One material of organic planting pouch is enceng gondok. Because it contains high fiber and undesirable plants, they should be usable waste. Machine casting the planting pouch is expected to change dry enceng pieces into tube shapes. The process involves pressing and rolling the dry pieces by roll mechanism. Research is conducted from April to September 2001 in TSSU and Agriculture Laboratory of Machine and Capacity. Casting machine designed comprises to frame, hopper, calendar roll, strip roll, coil roll, capacity sustaining mechanism, and power source. Machine experiment has been conducted by involving enceng pages in 0,5 mm thickness and 50 mm width. Tube result by D = 40 mm indicates that machine performance capacity is about 1,2 m / hours and its productivity is 435,9 mm. Financial analysis based on initial investment as much as Rp. 550.000 obtains BT value for Rp. 143.913 per year, while BV for Rp. 6.789.600 per year. BEP value is Rp. 211.351,316 in product capacity of 44,8253 m/year. NPV value is  Rp. 48.370.560,13. Net B/C Ratio to 88,94 and IRR to 75,45 % is also observed with selling price for Rp. 4.715 per meters.   Keywords: tearing method, organic planting pouch, tube casting machine

Abstract

Panen merupakan tahap akhir dari proses budidaya padi di sawah, salah satu hal yang penting dalam pemanenan padi adalah cara panen. Cara panen dapat digolongkan dalam dua macam yaitu secara tradisional dan mekanis. Secara tradisional panen mempunyai kelemahan  dalam kebutuhan tenaga kerja yang banyak serta kapasitas kerja yang rendah sedangkan secara mekanis harga mesin panen yang mahal serta kondisi lahan pertanian di Indonesia yang bergelombang belum memungkinkan digunakannya mesin pemanen mekanis. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah merancang suatu mesin pemanen padi mekanis satu jalur yang sesuai dengan kondisi lahan pertanian di Indonesia, serta mengujinya pada lahan padi siap panen. Dari pengujian dan perhitungan didapatkan nilai tahanan guling dari mesin pemanen padi sebesar 454,133 N dan daya untuk menggerakkan mesin maju sebesar 111,01 Watt. Pada pengujian di lapang mesin pemanen padi menunjukkan unjuk kerja yang baik, dimana batang pengarah dan gigi bintang mampu mengarahkan batang tanaman padi ke titik pemotongan, dan kemampuan pisau yang dengan cepat memotong batang tanaman padi. Salah satu fungsi utama yang kurang tercapai adalah kemampuan konveyor menggeser tanaman padi ke sisi luar dari mesin pemanen. Hal ini disebabkan oleh kurangnya kecepatan gerak dari konveyor dan gigi bintang.   Kata kunci: mesin pemanen padi satu jalur, rancang bangun, mesin pertanian
