Abstract

The purpose of this research was to find out the implementing practice-rehearsal pairs strategy in improving students’ speaking skills at the eight grade of MA DDI Kaballangang. The results of the research are useful for the teachers and the students because they will get a new strategy that is effective to be used in the English learning process especially in improving speaking. The subject of this research was XI IPA class which is consisted of 21 students. The sample was taken by using purposive sampling. The design in this research was pre-experimental with pre-test and post-test design. The researcher gave pre-test and post-test to know whether implementing practice-rehearsal pairs strategy can improve students’ speaking skills or not. The result of this research was indicated that there was an improvement of the students’ speaking skills. It was indicated by the students’ mean scoreof post-test (65.10) was greater than pre-test (30). Even, for the level significant (p) 5% and df = 21, and the value of the table is 1.725, while the value of t-test is 3.45. It means that the t-test value is greater than t-table (3.45 ≥ 1.725). Thus, it can be concluded that the students’ speaking skills are significantly better after getting the treatment. So, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted.

Abstract

The aims from this research are to know how is students’ skill in performing a speech, and to know the students’ deprivation in performing a speech. This research is mix method design to answer the problem of this thesis. The research took place at SMA N 6 Pinrang. The population was the students from eleventh grade, the sample of this research were 34 students who are from class XI MIPA 1 by used purposive sampling technique. The researcher used test and interview as instrument for this research. The speech performance used manuscript speech delivery method. The results of this research find that the students’ skill in performing speech are not fully fill up with the criteria of assessment, where the mean score from the performance is 189.79. Additionally, in analyzing the interview, the researchers conclude that there are some deprivations when the students perform their speech, the factors that been found over the interview were the use of English as a language used it selves in performing a speech. Moreover, the use of vocal variety and physical movement also mentioned with the students as their deprivation in performing a speech.

Abstract

Teachers’ attitudes play a role in shaping the educational environment and influencing student learning outcomes. They encompass their beliefs, values, and behaviors toward their profession, students, colleagues, and the learning process. The research aimed to Investigate English language teachers’ Attitudes toward the Use of Technology in Language Teaching at SMA 3 Parepare. This research used descriptive qualitative research with a study cases approach, there were three English teachers with observe the English language teaching and learning process and the interview process used semistructured interviews and the analysis technique used data reduction, display data, and conclusion. The result of this research was as follows: 1) English language teachers’ attitude toward teaching English focused on instructional method and active interaction with group discussions and multimedia-enhanced lessons proved the contribution to creating a practical English language learning experience for students. 2) English language attitude toward the use of Technology showed a positive attitude toward technology which utilize technological tools such as LCD, computers, and interactive whiteboards to enhance lessons effectively. 3) English language teachers’ implementation toward the use of technology engaging learning experiences by incorporating multimedia resources, project-based learning, and interactive conversations to stimulate student interest and participation while enhancing students’ language skills but also fosters creativity, using technology effectively and create an innovative learning environment at class
