Abstract

This study aims to produce valid mathematics learning tools. The development of the device in this study uses the Plomp development model which is divided into 5 phases, namely initial investigation, design, relation/construction, test, evaluation and revision and implementation. The data collection instruments used were in the form of RPP validation sheets and LKPD validation sheets. Data collection techniques were carried out by collecting validation questionnaires that had been filled out by experts. The data analysis technique used is validation data analysis. The results of the analysis of device validation data on the data obtained from the three validators obtained an average RPP validation score of 81.6% which is included in the fairly valid category which can be used but needs minor revisions. The average score of LKPD validation is 78.67% which is included in the fairly valid category that can be used with minor revisions. Furthermore, the RPP and LKPD were revised according to the validator's suggestion so that a mathematics learning device with the Treffinger model with the help of the Geogebra application was produced on valid flat-sided geometry material, which the device was feasible and could be used in the learning process.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of cooperative learning of Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) type in improving students’ learning outcomes, social attitudes, and students’ motivation. This is a quasi-experimental study using control and experimental classes. The research instruments used in this study were tests and questionnaires. The data were analyzed by using Multivariate Analysis of Variants (MANOVA). Theresult of the analysis showed that there was a significant influence between the experimental class with cooperative learning of STAD type and the control class with conventional learning viewed from the learning outcomes, social attitudes, and motivation of the students. These results can be seen from the statistical value of Hotelling's Trace which was smaller than 0.05. Cooperative learning simultaneously could improve learning outcomes, social attitudes, and learning motivation of students of SMAN 1 Tebing Tinggi.

Abstract

Math problem-solving mistakes made by students need to be treated more seriously since, if left unattended, they may affect students' comprehension of the following mathematical ideas. This study aims to identify students’ errors while attempting to solve mathematical problems of inductive reasoning ability on the material of powers and roots. This study adopts a qualitative method with descriptive research. The participants in this study were 24 students of class IX A at SMPN 2 Pelalawan. The research methods used are tests, interviews, and triangulation. The results showed that students had low inductive reasoning abilities so they made mistakes in solving problems. Based on the APOS theory (action, process, object, and schema), there are four student errors in solving math problems, namely: 1) incorrect interpretation: students do not grasp the meaning and objective of the questions; 2) conceptual error: misunderstood the multiplication of powers; 3) procedural errors: they occur when students conclude problems without adhering to a process; 4) Technical errors: Students frequently make errors while multiplying powers because they do not understand the concept. Regarding the APOS theory, based on the data analysis students only arrived at the first phase, namely the action phase
