Abstract

This study aimed to identify the changes of plasma potassium level after intubation with rapid sequenceintubation method in severe head injury patients using succinylcholine as muscle relaxant. Subjects aresevere head injury patients with glasgow coma scale (GCS) ≤ 8. Plasma potassium level was measured twice, before intubation and (minutes 5, 10, 15, 20) after intubation. Another variable that also measured were bloodgas analyze, time intubated and injury in another organ. There were 34 patients who came to EmergencyDepartment (ED) of Saiful Anwar General Hospital since January until April 2009. Mean level of plasmapotassium changes after intubation minute 5 (-0.01529); minute 10 (-0.01971); minute 15 (0.04147); minute20 (0.00059). Statistical analysis using paired t test revealed no significance of this difference (p>0.05). Therewere no changes of plasma potassium level in severe head injury patients after intubation withsuccinylcholine

Abstract

Quality control in healthcare services is a key factor in improving hospital service quality. This study aims to analyze the influence of effective communication and competence on quality control through a monitoring system as an intervening variable at Koja Regional Hospital. This research employs a quantitative method with a causality approach. The sample consists of 276 respondents, including inpatient doctors and nurses at Koja Regional Hospital. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with AMOS software. The results indicate that effective communication and competence have a positive and significant impact on quality control, both directly and through the monitoring system. Furthermore, the monitoring system plays a crucial role in enhancing quality control by providing accurate and real-time information on healthcare performance. The implications of this study highlight the importance of improving communication skills and healthcare worker competence, as well as optimizing the monitoring system to ensure better quality control implementation in hospitals

Abstract

Background: Low nurse retention has a negative impact on hospital performance and effectiveness. Objective: The study examines the effect of the compensation system and works motivation on nurse retention mediated by organizational commitment. Method: A quantitative study with a cross-sectional approach was applied in this study. The sample in this study was nurses with a working period of more than one year. Path analysis is used to analyze the data. Result: The results showed that simultaneously there was an influence of the compensation system, work motivation, and organizational commitment on the retention of nurses with organizational commitment as an intervening. Partially the compensation system and work motivation have a positive and significant effect on the retention of nurses. Conclusion: The direct impact of the compensation system and work motivation on nurse retention is more critical than that mediated by organizational commitment. Recommendations: The compensation system, work motivation, and organization need to be considered to increase the retention of nurses working at hospitals. Further studies must examine more variables to ensure the factors associated with nurses' retention

Abstract

This study aimed to obtain empirical evidence of the effect of competence and self-efficacy on service quality with work engagement as an intervening variable using a cross-sectional study design and 100 health workers with civil servant status as respondents. The study's results prove that simultaneously and partially, competence and self-efficacy have a positive and significant direct effect on work engagement and service quality, and work engagement has a positive and significant effect on service quality. So work engagement positively mediates the relationship between competence and self-efficacy in improving the service quality. The partisanship of health workers by involving themselves will make competence and management efforts in developing self-efficacy more effective in improving the ability of health workers to deliver quality services to inpatients. Competence will enable health workers to improve the quality of services more optimally if they appreciate interprofessional input and fully practice their knowledge. The importance of generalizations that management must develop for health workers in giving trust and experience will be an impetus for health workers to provide quality services in inpatient installations.
