Abstract

Evangelism is the great mandate of the Lord Jesus before going up to heaven. However, several problems arose related to the concept of evangelism. This happens when the concept of evangelism is associated with a limited redemption doctrine in Reformed theology. The question is whether limited redemption doctrine has prevented evangelism? Harold Dekker said that, limited redemption doctrine had hindered the activity of evangelism in the Reformed Church. According to Dekker, this is because the limited redemption doctrine has made Reformed people no longer say that Jesus died for you to people who do not believe. This paper will explore the history of evangelism carried out by the Reformed Church to prove that limited redemption doctrines do not hinder the activity of reformed church evangelism.   Penginjilan merupakan Amanat Agung Tuhan Yesus sebelum naik ke surga. Namun, muncul beberapa masalah berkaitan dengan konsep penginjilan. Hal itu terjadi ketika konsep penginjilan dikaitkan dengan doktrin penebusan terbatas dalam teologi Reformed. Pertanyaannya adalah apakah doktrin penebusan terbatas telah menghalangi penginjilan? Harold Dekker mengatakan bahwa, doktrin penebusan terbatas telah menghalangi aktifitas penginjilan dalam gereja Reformed. Menurut Dekker, hal itu dikarenakan doktrin penebusan terbatas telah membuat orang-orang Reformed tidak bisa lagi mengatakan bahwa Yesus mati bagimu kepada orang yang belum percaya. Karya tulis ini akan menelusuri sejarah penginjilan yang dilakukan oleh gereja Reformed untuk membuktikan bahwa doktrin penebusan terbatas tidak menghalangi aktifitas penginjilan gereja Reformed.

Abstract

This study was conducted to answer the criticism of the dialogue process in a pluralistic society. There is a dualism that separates mission and dialogue (social dialogue and spiritual dialogue). In this regard, there is a concern that social dialogue will have a missiological tendency which will affect the faith of others. Thus, there is no need for social dialogue. This article aims to explain that social dialogue is not harmful because social dialogue does not always affect one's faith. On the other hand, social dialogue can be an important model in this plural society. The study in this study was conducted using a qualitative descriptive method with a literature research approach. The research was conducted by investigating primary and secondary sources to find out the esense of social dialogue. The results of this study show that social dialogue is not harmful because social dialogue is an unavoidable fact. The incarnation of Christ forms the basis of dialogue for Christians to live in the midst of pluralism

Abstract

Abstract: Jonathan Edwards' sermon, with the theme Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God, received a negative response from scholars. They said Edwards' sermon was sadistic and frightening because hell is the most important element in Edwards’ theology. Therefore, the author uses qualitative methods, especially literature review. The author will explore primary and secondary sources to see if Edwards’ concept of hell is the most critical element in Edwards' theology. As a result of this discussion, the writer will show that the concept of hell is not the most critical element in Edwards’ theology because Edwards also has the concept of the glory of God, the sovereignty of God, the love of God, and heaven and the majesty of Christ. The author hopes that this article will clear up the misunderstanding of Edwards. Abstrak: Khotbah Jonathan Edwards, dengan tema Sinners in the Hands of an Angry Godmendapat respons negatif dari pada sarjana. Mereka mengatakan bahwa khotbah Edwards merupakan khotbah yang sadis dan menakutkan, mereka juga menganggap bahwa neraka merupakan elemen paling utama dalam teologi Edwards.Penulis mengunakan metodeliteratur dalam penelitian ini dengan cara menelusuri sumber-sumber primer dan sekunder untuk melihat apakah benar bahwakonsep neraka merupakan elemen paling utama dalam teologi Edwards. Hasil dari pembahasan ini, penulis akan memperlihatkan bahwa konsep neraka bukan elemen paling utama dalam teologi Edwards, karena Edwards juga mempunyai konsep tentang kemuliaan Allah, kedaulatan Allah, kasih Allah,surga dan keagungan Kristus. Penulis berharap tulisan ini akan meluruskan kesalahpahaman terhadap Edwards.

Abstract

Penginjilan adalah tugas yang diembankan pada seluruh umat Allah di mana pun mereka berada, yaitu tugas untuk mengomunikasikan suatu berita dari Pencipta kepada manusia yang berdosa.  Berkaitan dengan John Calvin, para sejarawan dan teolog menganggap, Calvin tidak memiliki aktifitas penginjilan ke negara lain. Menurut Davies, Calvin tidak memiliki aktifikas penginjilan ke negara lain, dikarenakan bagi Calvin gereja saat ini tidak perlu lagi melaksanakan Amanat Agung Tuhan Yesus karena Amanat Agung Tuhan Yesus sudah berakhir pada zaman para rasul, karena bagi Calvin Amanat Agung hanya bersifat sementara. Sebaliknya Jean Francois Zorn melihat bahwa Calvin memiliki aktifitas penginjilan ke negara lain. mereka yang menganggap Calvin tidak memiliki aktifitas penginjilan karena salah memahami Calvin. Penelitian ini mengunakan metode literatur. Penulis akan menelusuri sumber-sumber primer dan sekunder untuk melihat apakah Calvin memiliki aktifitas penginjilan. Penulis akan menyelidiki lebih dalam dan luas lagi berkaitan dengan konsep penginjilan Calvin, situasi sosial dan politik pada zaman Calvin, dan aktifitas penginjilan yang pernah Calvin lakukan baik langsung atau tidak langsung. Hasil penelitian, Penulis tidak menyetujui apa yang dikatakan oleh Davies. Menurut penulis, Calvin memiliki aktifitas penginjilan di Geneva maupun ke negara lain. Mereka yang menganggap Calvin tidak memiliki aktifitas penginjilan, dikarenakan salah memahami Calvin. Di akhir tulisan ini penulis akan menunjukkan bahwa Calvin memiliki aktifitas penginjilan ke negara lain. Evangelism is a task assigned to all God's people wherever they are, namely the task of communicating a message from the Creator to sinful humans. Regarding John Calvin, historians and theologians assume, Calvin did not have evangelistic activities to other countries, according to Davies, Calvin has no evangelistic activities to other countries. Because, for Calvin the church today no longer needs to carry out the Great Commission of the Lord Jesus because the Great Commission of the Lord Jesus has ended in the days of the apostles, because for Calvin the Great Commission is only temporary. On the other hand, Jean Francois Zorn saw that Calvin had evangelistic activities to other countries. those who think Calvin has no evangelistic activity because they misunderstand Calvin. This research uses the literature method. The author will explore primary and secondary sources to see if Calvin had any evangelistic activity. The author will investigate more deeply and more broadly with regard to Calvin's evangelistic concept, the social and political situation at Calvin's time, and the evangelistic activities that Calvin had carried out either directly or indirectly. The results of the study, the author does not agree with what was said by Davies. According to the author, Calvin has evangelistic activities in Geneva and in other countries. Those who think Calvin has no evangelistic activity, are misunderstanding Calvin. At the end of this paper the author will show that Calvin has evangelistic activities to other countries.

Abstract

Miracles are expressions of God's power. However, questions arise about John Calvin's concept of miracles. Does Calvin still believe that after the apostolic times, miracles still happen today? According to Pavel Hejzlar, Calvin said that miracle healings are no longer happening today because after the apostolic era ended there were no more miracles. This paper uses the bibliographical method to explore Calvin's concept of miracles both in Calvin's writings at the Institute of Christians Religion and in Calvin's commentaries. The author will prove that Calvin continued to believe that after the apostolic times miracles still occurred. Through this paper, the writer hopes that the misunderstanding of Calvin can be cleared up.   Mujizat merupakan pernyataan dari kuasa Allah. Namun, muncul pertanyaan mengenai konsep mujizat John Calvin. Apakah Calvin masih percaya bahwa setelah zaman para rasul, mujizat masih terjadi sampai hari ini? Menurut Pavel Hejzlar, Calvin mengatakan bahwa mujizat kesembuhan sudah tidak terjadi lagi pada saat ini karena setelah zaman para rasul berakhir sudah tidak ada mujizat lagi. Karya tulis ini memakai metode kepustakaan untuk menelusuri konsep mujizat Calvin baik dalam tulisan-tulisan Calvin yang ada di Institutio of Christians Religion maupun dalam tafsiran-tafsiran Calvin. Penulis akan membuktikan bahwa Calvin tetap percaya bahwa setelah zaman para rasul mujizat masih terjadi. Melalui tulisan ini penulis berharap kesalahpahaman terhadap Calvin bisa diluruskan.

Abstract

This study aims to straighten out the accusation that Matthew as the author of the Gospel of Matthew has misinterpreted Hosea 11:1 which is quoted by him in Matthew 2:15. There are scholars accusing Matthew of misinterpreting Hosea 11:1 when saying Matthew 2:15 is the fulfillment of what was prophesied by the prophet Hosea, because Hosea 11:1 is actually a historical reflection not prophecy. On the other hand, other scholars say that Matthew did not misinterpret Hosea 11:1, because this is the way the New Testament writers used the Old Testament. Where they can direct to Christ. In this study, the author uses the literature research method as a reference in describing the problems studied. The final result of this study, the author will show that Matthew did not misinterpret Hosea 11:1, because Matthew wrote this Gospel under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the Exodus is indeed Messianic Eschatology, and Matthew uses the Correspondence Analogy method when interpreting Hosea 11:1 so that Matthew 2:5 is a fulfillment of the prophecy of the prophet Hosea. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan meluruskan tuduhan bahwa Matius sebagai penulis Injil Matius telah salah menafsirkan Hosea 11:1 yang dikutip olehnya dalam Matius 2:15. Ada sarjana menuduh Matius telah salah menafsirkan Hosea 11:1 pada saat mengatakan Matius 2:15 merupakan penggenapan dari apa yang dinubuatkan oleh nabi Hosea, karena sebenarnya Hosea 11:1 merupakan sebuah refleksi sejarah bukan nubuatan. Sebaliknya sarjana lain mengatakan bahwa Matius tidak salah menafsirkan Hosea 11:1, karena ini merupakan cara penulis Perjanjian Baru dalam menggunakan Perjanjian Lama. Di  mana mereka bisa langsung mengarahkan kepada Kristus. Dalam penelitian ini, penulis memakai metode penelitian literatur sebagai acuan dalam mendeskripsikan masalah yang  dikaji.  Hasil akhir dari penelitian ini, penulis menunjukkan bahwa Matius tidak salah menafsirkan Hosea 11:1, dikarenakan Matius menulis Injil ini dibawah inspirasi dari Roh Kudus. Peristiwa Keluaran memang bersifat Eskatologi Mesianik, dan Matius memakai metode Analogi korespondensi pada saat menafsirkan Hosea 11:1, sehingga Matius 2:5 merupakan penggenapan dari nubuat nabi Hosea. Kata Kunci: Matius; Hosea; Penggenapan; Penafsiran; Yesus.
