Abstract

The aim of this study is to measure the effectiveness of using mobile application in teaching and learning grammar to university students. The application used in this research is Busuu. 28 undergraduate students participated in the study. Busuu mobile application was chosen as a tool for teaching and learning process. It has several function for teachers and students. The benefits of using busuu are, 1. The material used is arranged by users’ grade, 2. It is an interactive media, 3. Students will be evaluated by each development, 4. Easy to be accessed, 5. There is interaction with other users. The next step to monitor the students is extensive review. This qualitative research was designed as experimental research which included pre-test and post-test to measure the result of the effectiveness of using Busuu. The result of the study indicated that the mean score of participants was increased. It means that the use of mobile phone application is effective for teaching and learning process in online learning

Abstract

The objective of the research was to investigate the correlation between student’s achievement in reading comprehension and writing skill, whether there was any correlation between student’s achievement in reading comprehension and writing skill. The population of this research was 283 students. The researchers took 30 % as the sample so there were 85 students as main subject of research. In this quantitative research, the researcher used correlation study by using Pearson Product Moment to calculate the data. There were two main variables in this research. Reading comprehension (variable X) and writing skill (variable Y). The instruments of this research were reading comprehension test and writing test. The data were collected through test (reading comprehension and writing test). From the calculation by using Pearson Product Moment formula, it was obtained that the value of “r” product moment (rxy) or “r” observation (r0) was 0,436. The degree of freedom (df) was 83. The degree of significance 5% was 0,213, and the degree of significance 1% was 0,278. So, it meant that the hypothesis r0 was bigger than rt (0,436>0,0,213 and 0,436<0,278). The result of hypothesis of this research was alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. It meant there was correlation between student’s achievement in reading comprehension and writing skill.

Abstract

The achievement of the goals of Islamic education in the digitalization era has not yet reached the peak of proper realization. The effect of digitalization is devenitive, meaning it saves Muslims from all the pollution and destruction caused by Western ideas that come through various disciplines that can threaten traditional Islamic moral standards. Thus, the purpose of this research is to boost the morale of a nation's children by implementing al-Qur'an literacy through qualitative-descriptive methods. It can answer a research, namely al-Qur'an literacy as a forum for moral education of the nation's children by developing advanced technology in the digital era by mastery of reading verses of the Al Qur’an through digital platforms.

Abstract

Language is kind of the difficult set of skills that students are able to learn. There is no easy way to master a language, particularly a language which is not our first language. In the process of learning a language particularly a second language, there are many factors that determine the success of learning; one of the factors is learning styles. This paper focuses to study an eleventh grader student in vocational high school. The main point of the research was to determine the learning style of student when she is learning and gaining knowledge, especially in learning English. This research also contributes to reveal the role of learning style that played in the learning process and find the factors that make student achieve better in learning English. Instruments used to collect data were interviews, field notes, and student’s report. To analyze the data gathered from the data collection, I used triangulation. The findings shown that student will achieve better when she feel comfortable to study, without compulsion and intervention outside the context of the material. At the side of other aspect, to learn English, student’s ability is not only gained from teachers’ explanation in classroom, but also from other media. By considering these findings, I suggest that teachers have to aware about the learning style of their students, and for the students who have difficulties in learning English, try to find different ways in learning to gain the knowledge and ability in English language.

Abstract

This community service is aimed to assist elementary school quality programs to assist students in learning activities in the pandemic era by using prepared learning modules. Guidelines for the pursuit of elementary school quality programs through psychosocial assistance programs and strengthening the implementation of elementary school learning modules in 3t and non-3t areas during the covid-19 pandemic period. The activity was carried out at SD Inpres 1, Sorong Regency and PP IPPNU partners in providing assistance. The problems that arise in the implementation of Online Learning (PJJ) are the difficulty of teachers in managing PJJ and being focused on completing the curriculum. As a result of curriculum changes and the compression of learning materials lead the potential of children, especially those in 3T areas of Indonesia lose the chance to learn. The lack of facilities creates obstacles in the learning process, such as not all students have smart phones, and the limited capacity of parents to assist children in learning so that children can not study optimally.
