Abstract

In Indonesia there was an increase in the prevalence of dental caries in the Indonesian population compared to 2007, namely from 43.4% in 2007 to 53.2% in 2013. Caries and periodontal disease were the most common dental and oral diseases suffered by school-age children. One group that is vulnerable to caries. Plaques contribute to the pathogenicity of caries and periodontal disease. Brushing your teeth is the main action for cleaning plaque. Dental and oral health education is a method to motivate patients to clean their mouth effectively. Providing prevention and promotion of dental health in the teeth of elementary school students in Kukuh Village, Marga Tabanan District. The realization of the activity was counseling and brushing mass teeth three days in a row at Kukuh Village Elementary School. The paired T test for the pre and posttest values indicates the sig value. 0,000. Counseling brushing teeth is significant towards increasing student knowledge. Suggestions that can be given are: Puskesmas officers can carry out dental and oral health education activities for elementary school students in their working area, on an ongoing basis.Keyword: prevention, dental health promotion

Abstract

Indonesian Ministry of Health data (2013) showed 89% of children aged 12 years had dental caries, this is one proof that public awareness is still lacking in maintaining the health of their teeth and mouth. Residents who stated that they had problems with their teeth and mouth in the last 12 months in Tabanan Regency were 25.7%. This figure is above the Bali provincial figure of 24.0%. One of the preventive measures for dental caries is to seal (seal) pits and deep fissures on the surface of the tooth. Based on the preliminary interview with the Head of Kukuh Elementary School 1, 3 and 4 in Marga Sub-district, Tabanan Regency, it is known that there are no UKS or UKGS elementary schools. Based on the description above, a problem statement can be formulated: how to prevent dental caries for students in Kukuh District 1, 3 and 4 SDN in Marga Sub-district, Tabanan Regency in 2018? The service method is carried out with practice or direct action on the teeth of students of SDN 1,3, and 4 Kukuh, Marga District, Tabanan Regency. Based on the results and discussion, it can be suggested as follows: sealant action is carried out even earlier, to avoid carious teeth; if similar activities are carried out again, the community service team prepares tools and materials for dental fillings.Keywords: pit and fissure sealant, dental caries

Abstract

Pulp necrosis shown to be associated with heart disease. The spread of diseases of the teeth to other organs can be explained by the theory of focal infection. The impact of dental disease on the heart may be a coronary heart disease, inflammation of the heart muscle and valves. This study aims to describe the knowledge about heart disease in patientswith pulp necrosis in Badung District General Hospital 2016. This study is descriptive study. The sample was 50 people. The result of this research is the level of knowledge about heart disease in the category fail to reach 5 people (10%) and the majority of respondents in this category junior high school education. Whereas in the excellent category reached 16 people (32%) and the majority of respondents in this category educated to degree. The average knowledge about heart disease in patients with necrotic pulp was 67,6 with enough categories. Suggestions in this study is the dental and oral health professionals are expected to increase promotional efforts through therapeutic communication to all patients who visit and give an explanation to patients with necrotic pulp so that patients understand the consequences caused by the necrosis of the pulp is mainly to do with heart disease.

Abstract

Most frequently found oral disease in dental caries, periodontal disease, trauma and injuries and heredity lesi. School children is a group which is vulnarable todental and oral disease, especially dental caries. This study aims to know the profile of dental caries in first year student of elementary schools within working area of Puskesmas I Denpasar Utara in 2015.The research method used in this study is survey, which was conducted in 16 elementary schools within the working area of Puskesmas I Denpasar Utara with 1104 respondents (all first year students). The data was alayzed with univariate statistics to generate frequency and avarage.The finding shows that the highest occurarence of caries wasin Saraswati 2 Elementary School (45 teeth), and the lowest on was in Elementary School 20 Dangri and Dwijendra Elementary School with 9 teeth. The avarage of caries among first year students in working area of Puskesmas I Denpasar Utara was 0.3.The conclusion of this study is that the occurance of caries among first year students of Elemantary School in the working area of Puskesmas I Denpasar Utara in 2015 was relative low. Based on the conclusion above, it is suggested to refer student with dental caries to health service facilities available in the area.

Abstract

The behavior of smoking is one of cause of some disease especially cancer. Oral chamber is first place of contact of the cigarette smoke with the human body. The cigarrete smoke which flows as the result of the influence of particles of cigarrete smoke. The objective of this study is to identify the correlation of gingivitis with the behavior of wood carvers in Mas Village of Ubud District Gianyar Regency.This study is an observational reseach with cross sectional approach. This size of the sample 30 persons. The analysia being deployed in this research is univariate analysis in the form of frequency aan percentage which subsquently is performed bivariate analysis with Kendalls Tau.Out of 30 respondenDari 30 respondents, it has been found that majority (60%) of the respondents suffer from medium inflammation and none of them have healthy gum.The result of the bivariate analysis show that there is a significant correlation bettwen gingivitis and the quality of cigarettes being consumed in a day with significancy rate 0.000 and correlation rate of 0.516. There is significant correlation bettwen gingivitis with length of smoking time with significancy rate of 0.022 and correlation rate 0.304.There is a significant correlation bettwen gingivitis and behavior of smoking among wood in Mas Village of Ubud District Gianyar Regency.

Abstract

Currently, Indonesia's priority health issue is being heated with the term stunting. Stunting is a health problem that stems from malnutrition which results in a child's height being lower than the height of other children of the same age. A person who is malnourished has a tendency to other health problems, one of which is dental problems. The factors that influence the growth and development of children are nutritional status, sleep patterns, dental health, motor development, and the role of the family in applying discipline to children. Children who get adequate food consumption, the value of their nutritional status will be good and balanced so that it can affect the growth and development of children. Assessment and evaluation of nutritional status is one of the important components in supporting the continuity of the process of growth and development of children. The role of the Dental and Oral Therapist consists of fostering/developing community participation capabilities in self-maintenance efforts in the UKGM program, care services for vulnerable groups, including: school children, groups of pregnant women, breastfeeding and pre-school children. Conclusion The role of dental and oral therapists is needed in supporting the reduction of stunting, namely in the care of dental and oral health services in collaboration with other health workers.
