Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement of students' ability in writing descriptive text using YouTube media. The research was conducted from August to September 2021 on first-grade students of SMAN 3 Bunta. This research is quantitative research with 29 students of class X MIA SMAN 3 Bunta as research subjects. In searching for research data, a written test was used which contained pre-test and post-test. The instrument is given to find out how far the students' writing ability is before and before the test. The results showed that the t-count was 5.825. Therefore, the t-table with a one-tailed significance value is 0.05, and it is found that the t-table is 1.701. This shows that the t-count is higher than the t-table. In other words, there was a significant improvement in students' writing ability after using YouTube. Therefore, this research hypothesis can be accepted. The mean pre-test score was 53.17 and the mean post-test was 68.31. This means that the average score of students is increased by 15.14. Thus, the results of the study conclude that using YouTube can improve students' ability in writing descriptive text at SMAN 3 Bunta.

Abstract

Currently, in the era of advanced technological development, children have used YouTube in their daily lives. YouTube is a site that contains various kinds of videos, ranging from movies, music, TV series and so on that can be found on YouTube. Therefore, this research aims to find out the benefit of youtube for learning numbers and letters by four years old children and to find the challenges of youtube for learning numbers and letters by four years old children. This research is qualitative research. The research subject were three children and three parents. This research was also conducted at Bonebalantak. Researcher used two instruments in finding the data they are observation and interview. From the results it is found that the benefits of youtube are a source of new knowledge for children in learning English numbers and letters and youtube helps parents in teaching numbers and letters to children, the challenge is to cause addiction in watching youtube for children and children watching videos that not age appropriate. the conclusion of this research is that the insights to learning english letters and numbers in four year old children can be obtained by using youtube, youtube provides knowledge for children in learning numbers and letters in english, besides that youtube also has challenges in using it but it can be solved.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find and analyze the aspects of personality structure (id, ego, superego) in Ella Marchmill's characters, as well as the conflicts and personality structures that dominate. An Imaginative woman is a short story that tells how a household relationship in the Victorian era, especially how the personality structure of a wife in that era, was described by Thomas Hardly in the main character Ella Marchmill. The theory that will be used regarding personality structures (Id, Ego, Super Ego) by Sigmund Freud. Then, the method used is a descriptive qualitative research method by analyzing data in the form of words, phrases, dialogues, etc. from Ella Marchmill’s caharacters in An Imaginative Woman. This method was chosen because it’s relevant with the problems and the data is from data which is a words, dialogues, etc to be analyzed, not a mathematical problem. The results of the study prove that: 1) Ella Marchmill's character has three personality structures, they are id, ego, and superego. 2) The inner conflict that Ella Marchmill has an impact on the dominance of her personality structure, id. Ella always tries to have the object of her id (pleasure principle), namely Mr. Trewe even though she had to break the superego (rules) that existed as a woman in the Victorian era by betraying her own husband.

Abstract

This research aims to seek whether small group discussion can improve students’ reading comprehension at SMA Negeri 2 Toili or not. The research design of this study was quasi-experimental. The population of this research was eleven grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Toili consisted of 46 students from two classes, XI IPA (experimental) and XI IPS (control). Both classes were taken as the sample. Tests were administered as the research instruments. The results show that experimental class got the highest improvement compared to the control class, from 68,51 became 84,81 in post-test. Therefore, it was obtained the t-counted 7,740 with the significant level 0,05 is 1,680 and the (df) is 44. It means that, t-counted was higher than t-table. In conclusion, Ha was accepted while Ho was rejected. In other words, small group discussion can improve students' reading comprehension achievement at SMA Negeri 2 Toili.
