Abstract

Abstract

Elderly individuals often experience difficulty in medication management, which has the potential to reduce their quality of life. Monitoring drug use and anticipating potential risks is very important in maintaining the healthy function of the elderly. Therefore, health promotion education regarding the "use and anticipation of risks" of effective medication aims to increase public awareness and prevent health problems resulting from drug abuse. The methods used include Group Counseling, Practical Demonstration, and One-on-One Approach. Results achieved include increased understanding, awareness of the risks associated with drug use, and changes in drug use behavior. By applying these various methods, education about the appropriate use of drugs and the potential risks of using drugs has succeeded in increasing public knowledge and awareness regarding how to use drugs safely and can increase patient compliance with treatment, and ultimately improve people's quality of life.

Abstract

Dragon fruit peel contains several compounds that have high antioxidant activity. Oxidative stress, which is one of the triggers for inflammation, is a problem to this day. Red dragon fruit skin contains various antioxidant compounds such as flavonoids and polyphenols. It is hoped that the presence of these antioxidant compounds can also have anti-inflammatory activity. This study aims to examine the anti-inflammatory activity of red dragon fruit skin using the red blood cell stabilization method. The test results showed that the ethanol extract of red dragon fruit peel with a concentration of 1000 ppm had the largest percentage of red blood cell hemolysis protection in induced hypotonicity, namely 92.596%. From these results it can be concluded that the ethanol extract of red dragon fruit peel has potential as an anti-inflammatory by stabilizing red blood cell membranes.

Abstract

Formaldehyde is as a solution containing 30% to 50% formalin with 0.5% to 15% methanol as a polymerization inhibitor. The use of formaldehyde is a sprayer of plants (3%), in order to get harvest is not decayed and withered easily, but it can result residues in plants and crop yields. It can affect in the body health when consumed. Formalin is very dangerous if it accumulates in the body. The safety threshold of formaldehyde in food that enters the body is 1.514 mg/day. Formaldehyde in the drinking water that can be tolerated is 0.1 ppm. Therefore, in this study, the aim was to identify the presence of formaldehyde residues in chili and human blood that consumes the yield of chili contaminated with formaldehyde.. This research was conducted to develop a method for detecting formaldehyde in chilli blood samples as a detection medium for body conditions which were then reacted with pararosanillin HCl. The results of the dark pink reaction followed by detection of the UV-VIS Spectrophotometer method at a wavelength of 539.0 nm. The results showed that this method was able to detect formaldehyde in blood samples with Y = 6.364x - 0.009 and the correlation coefficient (r) of 0.996 and Vx0 < 2, the detection limit was 0.069 ppm and the quantization limit was 0.230 ppm. The accuracy results give an average value of 88.173%. The precision value is expressed as a Relative Standard Deviation of 1.047%. Chili samples collected from around Mount Bromo were detected with the result of a range of formaldehyde concentrati

Abstract

Introduction: Cholesterol was one part of fat as one of the nutrients that the body needs and a high calorie producer. Plants made from natural ingredients, for example, bay leaves contain high flavonoids and are hypolipidemic as well as antioxidants that can inhibit oxidative stress. Objective: This study aims to to determine the effectiveness of the ethanol extract of bay leaves (Syzygyum polyanthum) against male white rats wistar strain diabetes mellitus with hypercholesterolemia. Methode: The experimental animals used were male wistar rats induced with streptozotocin at a dose of 30mg/kg BW. The test animals were divided into six groups, each group consisted of 5 rats. Group (I) as a normal control were given standard feed and 0.5% Na CMC, group (II) was given 0.5% Na CMC as a negative control, group (III) was given simvastatin as a positive control, groups (IV) to (VI) were given ethanol extract of bay leaves with a certain dose namely 500mg/kg BW; 750mg/kg BW, and 1g/kg BW.The data obtained were analyzed using One Way Anova statistical test with 95% confidence level. Results: The results of the analysis showed that the p value < 0.005, which means that the ethanolic extract of bay leaf has an effect on cholesterol levels in diabetes mellitus male rats strain Wistar. The effective dose that gives the optimum effect is the ethanolic extract of bay leaf 1g/kgBW. Conclusion: The ethanol extract of bay leaf 1g/kg BW was able to provide optimum antihypercholesterol effects in diabetes mellitus male rats strain Wistar
