Abstract

A number of studies in the innovation literature have examined the construct of non-R&D innovation. These research generally revealed a positive link between non-R&D innovation and innovation performance. As far as this paper is concerned, non-R&D was specifically evaluated in the context of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). An in-depth review of the extant literature was performed to develop a conceptual framework by exploring the major antecedents of non-R&D, the EO-non-R&D innovation–performance relationship, and the key mediators and moderators of this relationship. This paper also examined several studies of SMEs with respect to various aspects of this framework in addition to providing suggestions for future research in order to understand more thoroughly on how non-R&D influences SME innovation performance.

Abstract

Usaha skala kecil dan menengah (UKM) ditantang untuk dapat mengadaptasi inovasi berkelanjutan ke dalam rutinitas operasional produksi dalam upaya mencapai pembangunan berkelanjutan yang berdampak pada aspek ekonomi, lingkungan, dan sosial. Walaupun implementasi inovasi berkelanjutan memerlukan investasi teknologi dengan nilai yang cukup besar seperti yang dilakukan oleh industri berskala besar, namun, UKM dapat memanfaatkan kemampuan internal yang merupakan kemampuan spesifik perusahaan sesuai dengan sumber daya yang dimiliki. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengukur secara empiris peran intrapreneurship perusahaan sebagai kemampuan dinamis dalam memberikan pengaruh terhadap pencapaian inovasi berkelanjutan. Dengan analisis regresi linear sederhana, hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan intrapreneurship perusahaan berpengaruh signifikan terhadap pencapaian inovasi berkelanjutan.

Abstract

PT. XYZ is a company engaged in seaweed processing, where the production process uses coal as boiler fuel to generate steam power for driving production activities. Coal combustion produces two types of waste, namely Fly ash and Bottom ash. Long-term accumulation of Fly ash and Bottom ash waste may require large storage space and cause environmental problems. This study aims to utilize Fly ash and Bottom ash waste (FABA) as an additive material in the production of concrete blocks (batako) and to calculate the production cost per batch. The research method used to address the problem was an experimental method. Based on the test results of the concrete blocks, it can be concluded that Fly ash and Bottom ash waste is feasible to be used as a mixture material in concrete block production with quality level II, using a composition of 300 g cement, 1500 g sand, and 1500 g Bottom ash. The test results showed a unit weight of 2.5 kg/unit, a compressive strength of 60 kN, and a water absorption percentage of 30%. The total production cost for producing concrete blocks using Fly ash and Bottom ash waste was Rp. 1,057,808 per batch, or Rp. 3,340 per unit
