Abstract

This article discusses the transformation of a traditional library into a digital library at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra (UINSU). This shift in library function is a demand for technological advancements, so that the scientific world evolves in tandem with technology. The goal of this article is to learn about the features of the UINSU digital library and how to use them. This article's methodology is descriptive qualitative, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. In order to highlight the process and meaning in qualitative research, the authors process the data using narrative analysis to describe the phenomena that occur. UINSU digital library empowerment has been available since November 16, 2021 via the library.uinsu.ac.id website, which includes opac, electronic journals, electronic books, archives of scientific works by the UINSU academic community, and classic books on the ideas of Middle Eastern scholars.

Abstract

This article aims to explore effective communication strategies implemented by social workers in urban environments through a systematic literature review (SLR) approach. The research employs a qualitative method alongside the SLR approach. Primary sources for this study are articles specifically concerning the theme, while secondary sources include supporting articles, books, and reports. The data collection technique used in this research is document analysis and literature review. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman model, which involves data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that communication technology plays a vital role in enhancing interactions between social workers and their clients. The success of communication also heavily relies on cultural sensitivity and the social workers' ability to tailor their messages to the diverse needs and contexts of their clients. Challenges such as building trust and adapting to rapid changes, especially under pandemic conditions, are the primary focus of the discussion. The discussion in this article reveals that effective communication in urban social work involves more than the mere transfer of information; it also encompasses relationship building, client empowerment, and strategy adaptation in response to crises. Successful strategies are those that combine the use of technology with a humanity-based approach to support client autonomy and activate their potential for positive social change.

Abstract

Selama ini, teori pembangunan konvensional lebih menekankan pada pertumbuhan ekonomi sebagai indikator keberhasilan, sehingga kerap melahirkan ketimpangan dan keterpinggiran kelompok miskin. James Midgley melalui konsep pembangunan sosial menawarkan paradigma alternatif yang menempatkan kesejahteraan sosial sebagai inti pembangunan dengan mengintegrasikan kebijakan ekonomi dan sosial secara seimbang. Artikel ini disusun menggunakan metode penelitian kepustakaan dengan menganalisis karya-karya utama Midgley serta kajian akademis terkait pembangunan sosial di Indonesia. Hasil menunjukkan pembangunan sosial memiliki karakter inklusif, partisipatif, dan berorientasi pada keadilan sosial. Dalam konteks Indonesia, program-program seperti Program Keluarga Harapan (PKH) merefleksikan upaya awal untuk menerapkan pendekatan pembangunan sosial, meskipun praktik pembangunan nasional masih didominasi oleh orientasi ekonomi. Dengan mengadopsi pembangunan sosial, pemerintah diharapkan mampu menjawab tantangan kesenjangan, kemiskinan, dan ketidakadilan melalui strategi pembangunan yang menempatkan masyarakat sebagai aktor utama. Pembangunan sosial pada akhirnya bukan sekadar instrumen kebijakan, melainkan wujud nyata dari kesejahteraan sosial yang berkelanjutan dan humanis.
