Abstract

A smartphone is a high-quality technology that combines other advanced features to facilitate human communication and information transactions so that its use is very important when connected to the internet. So that, using smartphones in the world has been “a must” every day. It has positive and negative impacts. This study aims to explore the use of smartphones in English learning for students. Population of the study was all of the state Senior High School in Pangkalpinang, sample was chosen by Cluster Random Sampling. The sample of the study is SMAN 1 Pangkalpinang and SMAN 4 Pangkalpinang. This case study employs both quantitative and qualitative methods. An online questionnaire was used in quantitative, and open questions to get qualitative data. The research instrument used a questionnaire modified from Rossing et al. (2012). The data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively to obtain information about the use of smartphones to support English learning. The study had found that smartphones had positive impacts, especially in English Learning, especially to access subject matter and search for information so that smartphones are very helpful and effective in completing tasks.

Abstract

Motivasi belajar berasal dari dalam dan luar peserta didik, yang sangat mendorong peserta didik dalam belajar sehingga bisa mendapatkan hasil belajar yang optimal. Hasil belajar merupakan tolak ukur terakhir dalam menentukan keberhasilan para peserta didik, yang meliputi tiga ranah pembelajaran yaitu ranah afektif, kognitif, dan psikomotorik.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara motivasi belajar dan hasil belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran PAI di SDN 15 Kelapa. Penelitian berjenis penelitian kuantitatif dengan Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan angket untuk motivasi belajar dan tes untuk hasil belajar siswa. Teknik analisis data menggunakan korelasi Pearson Product Moment. Sampel pada penelitian ini adalah 31 siswa kelas 5 SD.Hasil penelitian ini adalah terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara motivasi belajar siswa dan hasil belajar siswa dengan r-hitung >r-table yaitu 0,443 > 0,355 pada taraf signifikansi 5%

Abstract

Effective online learning is virtual face-to-face learning carried out through communication and information technology by teachers and students since the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic by fulfilling 5 indicators (management of learning implementation, communicative processes, student responses, learning activities and learning outcomes) which are supported by adequate infrastructure (Internet network, smartphone memory, internet quota) especially English language learning. Is the implementation of online English learning effective at Pangkalpinang State Middle School? remembering that there were several obstacles found in the field, namely difficult networks, full smartphone memory, insufficient internet quota, bad weather such as thunderstorms, and the absence of students' parents to accompany them during the learning process. This research is a mix-method research that uses a questionnaire distributed via WhatsApp as a data collection method. The questionnaire contains 8 closed questions and 3 open questions. The population contains all state junior high school students in Pangkalpinang. Samples were taken using cluster random sampling. The data analysis technique used is descriptive statistical analysis, the results of which are developed using qualitative analysis.
