Abstract

Hospitalization in a hospital will cause stress to children and parents, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, which requires the application of health protocols in all aspects including health. The aim is to describe the stress of hospitalization in preschool children during the Covid-19 pandemic in the Karunia’s ward of Kediri Baptist Hospital. The design in this study was used descriptively. The population in this study were all preschool children (3-5 years) who were treated at Kediri Baptist Hospital. Preschool children (3-5 years) who met the inclusion criteria were 58 children using a purposive sampling technique. Retrieval of data using the observation sheet. Observations were made by researchers on pre-school-age children who were hospitalized after 24 hours of treatment. Data analysis using frequency distribution.  Stress hospitalization in the Karunia room of Kediri Baptist Hospital in preschool-aged children, there were 30 children (51.7%) experiencing hospitalization stress in the severe category, the mild category is 19 respondents (32.7%), and 9 respondents in the moderate category (15.6%). Children who underwent hostility during the Covid-19 pandemic experienced increased hospitalization stress. Preschool-aged children who tend to experience anxiety, anxiety, be quiet, withdrawn, uncooperative, fussy, and so on.
