Abstract

This research aims are to determaine the relationship between raport value (X) and competence general biology I (Y) student college FMIPA level I T.P 2015/2016 based on the path to State University of Medan (SNMPTN, Bidikmisi, SBMPTN, UMB). This research is study using descriptive correlational. Population in this research were all the student FMIPA  Level I of State University of Medan T.P 2015/2016 which amounted 1159 people. Sample was taken by Proportional Stratified Sampling obtained 176 people. Analysis techniques data is using multiple corellation. The study concluded that there was a relationship between raport value (X) and competence general biology I (Y), based on SBMPTN are 0.333 the regression equation Ŷ = 68.122 + 5.481 X1, SNMPTN are 0.117 the regression equation Ŷ = 18.093 + 0.363 X1, Bidikmisi are 0.188 the regression equation Ŷ = 1.662 + 0.017 X1, and UMB are -0.015 the regression equation Ŷ = 3.161 +(-0.001X1).

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of knowledge about mangrove ecosystems and attitudes towards the preservation of mangrove ecosystems in school students in Serdang Bedagai District. The level of knowledge of students is obtained through the tests of knowledge and questionnaires about the students' attitudes toward the preservation of mangrove ecosystems. The results showed that the level of knowledge of high school students in Serdang Bedagai Regency about mangrove ecosystem in general, including enough category with the highest level of knowledge is quite good (60.5%). However, their attitude towards conservation of mangrove ecosystem is categorized as very good (53.8%) and good (42.0%). This indicates that it is necessary to integrate material about mangrove ecosystem in Biology lesson for students who attended school on the East coast of Sumatra.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of inquiry based learning modelon students’learning outcome of the environmental pollutiontopic at SMA Swasta PAB 8 Saentis. The research method used is quasi experimentwith sample as much as 3 classes, those are takenby using the technic of cluster random sampling.Guided inquiry based learning model is taught in class X2, modified free inquiry based learning modelis taughtin classX5, and traditional based learning model is taughtin class X3. The instrument is used in this study islearning outcome test in form multiple choice. The techniqueof data analysis used in this study isanalysis covariatbyusingthe program of SPSS 21.0 for Windows. The study result showed that there was effect ofinquiry based learning modelon students’ learning outcome (F=6.58 ; P=0.002). Students’ learning outcome that were taught by guided inquiry based learning model(73.36±11.443) was highestthanmodified free inquiry based learning model(67.27±12.050) was higherthan traditional based learning model (64.00±13.561).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat kelayakan; (1) Penuntun praktikum Ekologi Tumbuhan Berbasis Literasi Sains sebagai batang tubuh pengetahuan (a body of knowladge; (2) Penuntun praktikum Ekologi Tumbuhan Sains sebagai cara untuk menyelidiki  (way of investigating); (3) Penuntun praktikum Ekologi Tumbuhan Sains sebagai cara berfikir (way of thinking); (4) Penuntun praktikum Ekologi Tumbuhan Interaksi sains, teknologi dengan masyarakat (interaction of science, tecnology and society) menurut tim ahli materi, ahli desain dan mahasiswa biologi Universitas Negeri Medan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan produk model Borg and Gall, yang dimodifikasi sesuai kebutuhan. Model ini meliputi enam tahapan, yaitu  (1) Melakukan penelitian pendahuluan; (2) Perencanaan produk; (3) Pengumpulan bahan; (4) Pengembangan produk awal; (5) Validasi produk, (6) Revisi dan Uji Coba. Subjek uji coba terdiri dari tim ahli materi, tim ahli desain. Data dianalisis dengan tehnik deskriftif kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian pengembangan penuntun praktikum berbasis literasi sains menurut tim ahli materi (dua) menunjukkan bahwa tingkat kelayakan Penuntun praktikum Ekologi Tumbuhan Berbasis Literasi Sains (1) Sebagai batang tubuh pengetahuan (a body of knowladge) “sangat baik” (91,07%); (2) Sebagai cara untuk menyelidiki  (way of investigating) “sangat baik” (100%); (3) Sebagai cara berfikir (way of thinking) “sangat baik” (92,18%); (4) Interaksi sains, teknologi dengan masyarakat (interaction of science, tecnology and society) dan refleksi diri “sangat baik” (96,87%); (5) menurut tim ahli desain “sangat baik” 92,10%. Berdasarkan data tersebut produk penuntun praktikum Ekologi Tumbuhan Berbasis Literasi Sains yang sudah dikembangkan layak digunakan untuk mahasiswa sebagai penuntun praktikum pada mata kuliah Ekologi Tumbuhan.

Abstract

This research aimed to develop a Mini-Lab on ecology and environment topics based on scientific literacy and local potential of North Sumatera which is feasible empirically. Feasibility of learning material is obtained through validation of content experts, design expert, assessment from biology teacher and students' response to product that developed. This research and development used Borg and Gall model. However this study was limited to preliminary field testing only. Data validation and the questionnaire responses of teachers and students were analyzed descriptively qualitative. The result showed that according to content experts, the feasibility of product content was very good with average percentage score 93.32%. Feasibility of Mini-Lab’s design that has been developed based on design expert was also very good with a percentage score of 91.66%. Result of biology teacher assessment on Mini-Lab activity on ecology and environment topics for X grade of senior high school students was developed with 93.75% (very good). Students' response to the preliminary field testing individual testing is 80.35% (good), small group trial 84.52% (very good) and big group 91.38%.(very good).

Abstract

This study aims to : (1) Determine the Level of Intelligence Ecological high school students based Local Wisdom in Utilizing And Preserving Forests Mangrove in the village of Jaring Halus of Sicanggang District Langkat;(2) Knowing Bioethics taught by Biology Teacher on high school students in Utilizing And Preserving mangrove forest in the village of Fine Jaring District of Sicanggang Langkat;(3) Knowing the Family Education taught parents to their children who are in the Village District of Jaring Fine Sicanggang Langka;(4) Knowing how students learn in Utilizing Local Wisdom and Preserving mangrove forest in the village of Fine Jaring District of Sicanggang Langkat . The approach used is a descriptive study non hypotheses using survey approach ( surveying Method). The research sample of 30 high school students who reside in the village of Jaring Fine Sicanggang District of Langkat . instrument used in this study is a test, questionnaire , interview and observation . Data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis with percentages . The final conclusion;(1) Ecological Intelligence Level High School Students Based Local Wisdom on average relatively good with an average score of ecological intelligence level of 22.5 % of high school students;(2) the ability of high school students Against Ecological Intelligence Bioethics Teachers Taught average quite well with the mean the ability of high school students average score of 50.7 %;(3) Family Education Level Taught His parents People Against the average is quite good with an average score of level of education was 35.8 % ;(4) knowledge in ecological intelligence level of high school students based on local wisdom on average relatively good with an average score of knowledge amounting to 25.56 % of high school students.

Abstract

This study aim to generate a decent textbook to use, easy to learn and can be used for leaners individual learning which produce teaching materials based on guided discovery. This research is the development of a research model product development Borg and Gall combined with a model of Dick and Carey instructional design. The research method consisted of: (1) validation of subject matter experts; (2) validation of expert instructional design; (3) validation of biology teacher; (4) individual trial; (5) small group testing; (6) limited field trials. Test subjects consisted of two subject matter experts biology, one expert instructional design, three students for individual trials, nine students to test small group and 38 students to a limited field test. Value about the quality of the product development is collected by questionnaire and analyzed with quantitative analysis techniques descriptive. The result showed: (1) subject matter experts are very well qualifications (90,14%); (2) test of instructional design experts are very well qualifications (88,06%); (3) biology teachers are in very well qualifications (93%); (4) individual trials are in well qualifications (91,07%); (5) small group trials are in very well qualifications (90,67%); (6) limited group trial in very good qualifications (87,55%).
