Abstract

The Covid19 pandemic has changed society's spatial practices substantially. Large-scale social restrictions, lockdowns, and the obligation to wear masks have changed the way humans relates to each other personally and politically. This article discusses how the pandemic has shaped civic space of women activists and how women activists maintain and create civic space amid the pandemic and democratic regression. The data source of the article is collected through online survey of 20 women activists and in-depth online interviews.  The results show that civil society organizations in Indonesia are under immense pressure due to pandemic and democratic regression. For civil society organizations, their space is limited by various legal regulations and various violence and stigma aimed at civil society activists. More than that, for women activists the pandemic also provides additional domestic burdens which make the space for women activists increasingly limited. In the midst of these obstacles, our research shows that women and civil society activists do not reduce their intensity in maintaining the civic space.

Abstract

Abstract

There are only two different occurances in modernity: solid modernity and liquid modernity. Solid Modernity operates to create logic of order, categorization and administration. Liquid Modernity works as an illusion of speed and perpetual changes. Mode of categorization in solid modernity has sparked the logic of partiality and nonpartialitity in society. Holocaust -according to Bauman- is an impact of the incapability of the modernity to define ambivalence subject in the mode of categorization. Jews is historical subject that is ambivalence in the eye of regime of categorization. Based on this historical trauma, Bauman propose a new horison in Sociology: Sociology that gives more commitment to truth and ethics.

Abstract

Abstract Latour removes the boundaries between natural sciences and humanities. Science for Latour is cultural practise, at the same time in every cultural practice, nature and objects are also actively involved. In that sense, Latour's constructivism encourages the emergence of non-human actors as drivers of the societal changes. By that, he provoked sociology to expand its subject matter. The Social in sociology must be seen as an association involving human and non-human actors. Key words: Constructivism, Expansion of agency, actant, actor network theory.

Abstract

Public trust in the police is a problematic issue for modern police everywhere, including in Indonesia. The police agency needs a high level of trust to be able to carry out its duties and functions as the person in charge of social order and law in society. This study intends to examine the influence of performance effectiveness, procedural justice and social capital on public trust in the police in Central Jakarta. The survey was conducted to 400 respondents using the cluster purposive random sampling method at the sub-district level. The results showed that the performance effectiveness variable had a significant effect (0.275), the procedural justice variable had no significant effect, and the social capital variable had a significant effect (0.133). The awareness of the importance of trust has been observed by the National Police leadership since the National Police institution was officially separated from the ABRI. In this case, the National Police formulated a bi-annual Grand-Strategy covering the period 2005-2025, as a step to encourage systematic organizational change towards the National Police as a professional modern police force.
