<![CDATA[This research discuses the social issues in the short story collection of Balinese culture titled Mandi Api bySoethama Aryantha Gde using sociological approach. The purpose is to review the problems of the Balinese socialculture, namely the problems of tourism, culture, and caste found in the novel. The method applied in this study isdescriptive method. The results of the analysis showed that in the short story Mandi Api by Soethama Aryantha Gdeabout the problem of caste, tourism, and culture. These are the reaction of the author about the environment andlife. The author as a native is familiar with the socio-cultural situation of his home. Bali is beautiful, but it has a lotof social problems social and conflicts. There are an exciting conflict between the culture rule, should be adheredto, as there is no way out of the best of it. The Culture appears to have fixed price should be borne by society, whilethe authors recognize that in the eyes of the world that Bali is a beautiful area. Bali is a charming tourist place witha friendly community and a peaceful life, but behind it, Bali experiencely change and there are many questionsrelating to the social and cultures. AbstrakPenelitian ini membahas persoalan sosial budaya Bali dalam kumpulan cerpen Mandi Api karya Gde AryanthaSoethama dengan menggunakan pendekatan sosiologi sastra. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengkaji persoalansosial budaya Bali, yaitu permasalahan pariwisata, adat, dan kasta yang terdapat dalam novel tersebut. Metodeyang diterapkan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif.Hasil analisis menunjukan bahwa dalam kumpulancerpen Mandi Api karya Gde Aryantha Soethama banyak ditemui setidak-tidaknya masalah kasta, pariwisata, danbudaya. Masalah-masalah tersebut merupakan reaksi pengarang terhadap lingkungan dan kehidupan. Pengarangsebagai warga Bali mengerti benar akan situasi sosio-kultur tempat tinggalnya. Bali yang indah, namun mempunyaibanyak masalah sosial kemasyarakatan yang sarat dengan konflik. Di sana ada peigulatan yang seru antara aturanadat yang mengikat, harus ditaati, seolah tidak ada jalan keluar yang terbaik dari hal itu. Adat seakan menjadi hargamati yang harus dipikul oleh masyarakat, sedangkan pengarang sadar bahwa di mata dunia Bali adalah daerah yangindah. Bali adalah tempat pariwisata yang memesona dengan masyarakatnya yang ramah dan hidup damai, namundi balik itu semua Bali mengalami perubahan dan terdapat banyak persoalan yang berhubungan dengan sosial danbudaya.]]>
