Abstract

The nutritional problem such as stunting will impact human resource quality. Various factors, including family economic problems, contributed to it, such as in Lambung Bukit Village, Pauh District in Padang City. Apart from financial issues, the mother's lack of illiteracy on child health and nurture also contributes to nutritional problems in this area. Health services that involve physical examinations, child development, nutritional problems and the mother's understanding of family health need to be carried out. Nutrition education was given together with maternal education about parenting and maternal health by the community service team from the Nutrition Science Section and Anatomical Pathology Section, Faculty of Medicine, Andalas University. Thirty mothers accompanied by their toddlers attended the activity. The service team provided five steps that participants must pass, including registration activities, anthropometric examinations, nutritional history, problem assessments, and nutritional consultations. It was hoped that both individual and group approaches would provide significant leverage for changing maternal behaviour. The mother benefited of the education provided. They requested that the team carry out this activity regularly at least once every three months, both to assess the growth and development of children and provide the knowledge about family health they need.

Abstract

Stunting is a condition characterized by inhibited physical growth and development in children due to inadequate nutrition. This is a serious issue that can have long-term impacts on the quality of a child's life and future. Preventing the risk of stunting during the first 1000 days of life is a crucial effort in maintaining the health and development of children from the early stages of their lives. To address stunting, a holistic approach is needed, particularly involving the role of mothers in prevention efforts. The objective of this activity is to enhance mothers' knowledge about stunting and its prevention in Nagari Koto Tangah Batu Ampa, Akabiluru District, Lima Puluh Kota Regency. The methods employed in the activity include counseling and question and answer sessions on stunting prevention and the importance of the first 1000 days of life, along with the distribution of informational pamphlets to participants at the integrated health post. The results of this activity reflect active participation by the attendees, indicating a high level of interest and engagement in the counseling and Q&A sessions. Moreover, there is a noticeable increase in the percentage of knowledge and awareness among participants regarding stunting prevention. Thus, this activity has a positive impact on enhancing the capacity of mothers as key agents in stunting prevention in Nagari Koto Tangah Batu Ampa. These efforts are undertaken with the hope of making a positive contribution, leading to a reduction in stunting rates in Nagari Koto Tangah Batu Ampa and an improvement in the quality of human resources in the future.

Abstract

Background: The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is the main stabilizer of the knee joint. The incidence of ACL injuries is quite high, especially in individuals who participate in sports. ACL injuries result in knee instability, hindering daily activities and sports participation. This study aimed to determine the functional outcomes of patients who have undergone ACL reconstruction. Methods: This study was descriptive, with a cross-sectional approach, and used medical record data from Dr. M. Djamil Central General Hospital Padang. The total sampling technique was used from patients after ACL reconstruction in 2020-2022. Patients with bilateral knee injuries, multiple ligament injuries, or revision reconstruction were excluded from the study. The samples were contacted to determine their functional outcome by filling out the Lysholm Knee Score. Results: This study analyzed 27 patients, with 77.8% in the 19-44 age group, and no patients were over 60 years old. This study identified 85.2% of male patients with sports-related injuries being the most common (70.4%). The non-dominant knee was injured more frequently (51.9%). Functional outcomes, as assessed by the Lysholm Knee Score, showed excellent, good, and moderate results in 37 %, 29.6%, and 33.3% of patients, respectively. Conclusions: ACL reconstruction was most frequently performed in the adult population aged 19–44 years, predominantly in males. Sports-related injuries were the primary cause, with the majority of reconstructions involving the non-dominant knee. The average patient achieved good functional outcomes after ACL reconstruction.
