Abstract

Indonesia is a rich country with biodiversity consisting of thousands of medicinal plant species and approximately 300 species are used as traditional medicine by the traditional medicine industry. Therefore, the existing biodiversity in Indonesia is an asset and resource that must be maintained and managed so that it can become an ancestral heritage and benefit the community for maintaining health. FMP (Family Medicinal Plants) is a type of plant of choice that is efficacious as medicine with easy maintenance and relatively low cost. FMP is a safe alternative for family medicine because it rarely causes side effects, is easy to process, and is consumed for first aid in cases of minor illnesses such as fever, cough, or to help maintain stamina. The existence of FMP in the home environment is very important because apart from being an alternative treatment it can also improve family welfare. The purpose of carrying out this community service activity is that the residents of the Rahmatan Lil Alamin Orphanage know the benefits, how to use, and how to make traditional dosage form from FMP. The method used in this activity is providing counseling, training, giving FMP seeds, and tools that can be used to make products of traditional medicinal plants. In counseling activities, pretest and posttest sheets were also given. The results of the service showed that the average pretest score of the participants was 85 and increased in the post test to 94. It can be concluded that the participants took part in the activity enthusiastically so that their knowledge of the Family Medicinal Plants (FMP) increased.

Abstract

The human need for sugar as an additional ingredient to give sweet taste to food and drinks is very high. Abstract

Batuhampar is one of the Nagaris located in the Akabiluru District, 50 Kota Regency, West Sumatra Province. Cassava and rice are among the main agricultural products in the Kenagarian Batuhampar. Until now, cassava and rice waste has been either directly disposed of or burned. Waste burning can cause air pollution, while indiscriminate waste disposal can contaminate groundwater and create sanitation problems. Additionally, this waste can also be a source of disease and pose health risks to the local community. Therefore, the utilization of rice husk and cassava peel waste into biobriquettes is a solution to reduce such waste. The objective of this activity is to utilize rice husk and cassava peel waste into biobriquettes in the Nagari Batuhampar Farmer Group, 50 Kota Regency. This activity is conducted through several methods, such as field surveys, biobriquette production, and socialization of the utilization of rice husk and cassava peel waste to farmer groups. This activity took place from July 24th to August 10th, 2023. The final evaluation of the socialization indicates that throughout the activity, the willingness and enthusiasm of the participants to participate and pay attention were quite high. This was observed from the participants who raised questions and provided feedback during the activity. It is hoped that this activity can be continued for farmer groups with different agricultural commodities so that the generated waste can be effectively utilized and contribute to the improvement of farmers' economy.
