Abstract

Background: HIV/AIDS are major problem that threatens Indonesia and many countries around the world. In 2011 there were 17.3 million adults living with AIDS were women. The purpose of studies proved that host and environmental factors were associated the occurence of HIV/AIDS in women. Method: The research using case-control study, was supported by indepth interview. The target population were women in Kendal with a sample of 76 women consisted of 38 women with HIV/AIDS and 38 women negative HIV. Samples case with consecutive sampling technique, control with cluster sampling. Bivariate analysis using chi-square test and multivariate analysis used logistic regression. Results: Multivariate analysis showed that host factors significantly associated with the occurence of HIV/AIDS in women were the number of sexual partners more than 1 (p = 0,003), level of education was low ≤ 9 years (p = 0,049) and the first married age < 20 years (p = 0,03); environment factors significantly associated was history of HIV/AIDS on her husband (p=0,001). Host factors were not significantly associated with the occurence of HIV/AIDS in women were history of receiving blood donors,  history of sexually transmitted diseases, the status of drug users, the habit of drinking alcohol, violence, type of job, and socioeconomic. Conclusion: Host factors significantly associated with the occurence of HIV/AIDS in women were the number of sexual partners more than 1, level of education was low ≤ 9 years, and the first married age <20 years; environment factors significantly associated was history of HIV/AIDS on her husband. Background:HIV/AIDSaremajorproblemthatthreatensIndonesiaandmanycountriesaround theworld.In2011therewere17.3millionadultslivingwithAIDSwerewomen.Thepurposeof studiesprovedthathostandenvironmentalfactorswereassociatedtheoccurenceofHIV/AIDS inwomen.Method:Theresearchusingcase-controlstudy,wassupportedbyindepthinterview.Thetarget population were women in Kendal with a sample of 76 women consisted of 38 women with HIV/AIDSand 38 women negative HIV. Abstract

Background: The development of HIV/AIDS epidemics in the world has led to a global problem and it is one of public health problems in East Timor. The age group of 25-44 years old is sexually active and productive group who needs to get a good review. Methods: This research used a case-control study design reinforced with qualitative data. The number of respondents was 112 respondents, including 56 cases (males with HIV/AIDS) and56 controls (males who did not suffer from HIV/AIDS). The research instruments were:questionnaires and interviews. The data analysis used univariate, bivariate (chi-square test)and multivariate (logistic regression test). Results: The variables proven to affect the prevalence of HIV/AIDS in males were age (OR =3.937; 95% CI = 1.564-9.908; p = 0.004), and alcohol consumption habits (OR = 7.658; 95%CI = 2.641-22.205 ; p = 0.0001). condom use (OR = 3.308; 95% CI = 1.469-7.450; p = 0.006) and access to localization (OR = 3.000; 95% CI = 1.348-6.678; p = 0.011). The variables which were not proven to be risk factors for the prevalence of HIV/AIDS were the level of education, knowledge, attitudes, promiscuous habits, drug use status, condom use, and socio- cultura. Conclusion: The risk factors proven to affect the prevalence of HIV/AIDS in males are age and alcohol consumption habits, the use of condoms and access to illegal localization. They are risky behaviors for HIV/AIDS with the probability of 63.02%.

Abstract

ABSTRACTDescription of Risk Behaviors HIV Among Injecting Drug Users In Central Java Province; Injecting drug users (IDUs) is the high risk population that was vulnerable to HIV infection. IDUs not only contribute HIV through unsafe injecting behavior but also through risky sexual behavior. The HIV prevalence among IDUs in Indonesia still highest position it was reached 41% in 2011. In Central Java province percentage factor for HIV transmission risk through unsafe injecting among IDUs is still high, it was 7.7%. The high number cases of HIV in IDU’s would be worried, it can be predicted that cases of HIV would spread to general population. This study aims to describe HIV risk behaviors among IDUs in Central Java Province. This research is a quantitative with cross sectional approach. The number of respondents in this study was 172 IDUs in Central Java Province. Analysis of data using univariate analysis with frequency distribution. The results showed the hiv risk behavior of injecting drug use that 8% of IDUs reported sharing needle without bleaching. On sexual behavior patterns majority of respondents (37.2%) had one partner and not using a condom at last sex. Keywords: IDU’s, HIV Risk Behaviors, Central Java Province
