Abstract

The advancement of information technology demands mastery of digital literacy, yet rural communities still face difficulties in accessing practical technology. This community service program aims to improve the technological skills of villagers through training on assembling and operating LED-based running text as a village information medium. A number of participants, consisting of village officials and general residents, were involved in this activity. The stages included preparation, socialization, hands-on training, evaluation, and follow-up. As a result, participants' understanding of the functions, components, and operation of running text increased by an average of more than 60%. On the other hand, the implementation of the Community Service Program was motivated by the village's need for more systematic and efficient population data management. The manual data collection process previously used made it difficult to search for data, update information, and compile administrative reports. This condition encouraged the design of a population data collection application as a solution. The focus of the activity was to design a backend system for centralized data management and storage. The methods used included observation, interviews, needs analysis, and system and database design. The design was tailored to the village's conditions to ensure optimal and sustainable implementation. The outcome is an application that enables population data to be managed more neatly, accurately, and accessibly. This system is expected to improve the work efficiency of village officials while minimizing data recording errors, as well as serving as an initial step in the implementation of information technology within the village environment.

Abstract

Attendance recording is an important aspect in supporting administrative effectiveness and public services within village government institutions. However, conventional attendance systems still face several limitations, including recording errors, delayed data recapitulation, and difficulties in conducting real-time attendance monitoring. This community service activity aimed to implement an Internet of Things (IoT)-based online attendance system at Perian Village Office, Montong Gading District, East Lombok Regency. The system was developed using an ESP32 microcontroller, a fingerprint sensor for user authentication, a Real Time Clock (RTC) module for timestamp recording, an OLED display for information output, and Google Sheets as a cloud-based data storage platform. The implementation method consisted of needs assessment, hardware and software design, system deployment, user training, testing, and system assistance. The results showed that the developed system was able to identify users through fingerprint authentication, automatically record attendance time, and transmit attendance data to Google Sheets in real time. All main system functions, including user enrollment, attendance recording, online data storage, and administrator management features, operated successfully according to user requirements. The implementation of this system improved the effectiveness of attendance management and supported the digital transformation of village administration through a more transparent, accurate, and efficient attendance recording process

Abstract

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Society 5.0 era requires improved technological literacy among high school students as preparation for digital transformation and future competency demands. This Community Service (PkM) activity aims to enhance students’ AI literacy through the introduction of basic AI concepts, ethical use of AI, and its application in supporting the learning process. The activity was conducted at SMA Darussolihin NW Kalijaga involving 23 students through interactive presentations, demonstrations, hands-on practice using ChatGPT, group discussions, and evaluation using pre-test and post-test assessments. The results show that students’ average AI literacy score increased from 64.80 before the activity to 77.87 after the activity, representing an improvement of 20.12%. In addition, students demonstrated improved understanding of basic AI concepts, awareness of ethical AI usage, the ability to utilize AI to support learning, and increased confidence in using technology responsibly. This activity was proven effective in enhancing AI literacy and students’ digital competencies, while also serving as a relevant strategy to strengthen critical thinking skills, encourage responsible technology use, and prepare the younger generation for the challenges and opportunities of the Society 5.0 era.

Abstract

The high rate of motorcycle theft has become a significant issue that requires an effective and integrated technology-based solution. This study aims to develop a smart motorcycle security and tracking system based on the Internet of Things (IoT) by utilizing Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology as a user authentication system and the Global Positioning System (GPS) as a real-time vehicle tracking system. The methodology employed includes hardware and software design, integration of the RFID RC522 and GPS Neo-6M modules with an ESP32 IoT-based microcontroller, and system testing under eight usage scenarios covering RFID authentication, remote control and location requests via Telegram, GPS testing in open and covered areas, a power-supply test from the 12 V motorcycle battery, and a one-hour endurance test. The results indicate that the developed system is capable of enhancing vehicle security through an RFID-based authentication mechanism that only allows registered users to access the motorcycle. In addition, the GPS-based tracking feature enables accurate and real-time monitoring of the vehicle's location through a web-based or mobile application. The system performance evaluation shows a GPS tracking accuracy of ±3 meters in open areas, an RFID authentication response time of less than 1 second, and an average remote-control response time of 1–2 seconds via Telegram, although coordinate delivery was delayed in covered areas; the system also remained stable during a one-hour endurance test powered by the 12 V motorcycle battery. Therefore, the proposed system has the potential to serve as an innovative solution for improving motorcycle security and monitoring, as well as supporting the development of intelligent transportation technologies based on IoT.
