Abstract

The  research  aimed  to describe  (1)  the  patterns  of  Indonesian compound-complex sentences and (2) the meaning relations between one clause and another. The method used was descriptive-qualitative in nature. The data were in the form of written sentences taken from magazines, newspapers, and novels. The data analysis made use of Immediate Constituents Analysis method. The analysis revealed that compound-complex sentences found were of seven patterns: (1) main clause + subclause + subclause (the first pattern comprises five kinds of pattern structure), (2) main clause + main clause + subclause (the second pattern comprises ten kinds of pattern structure), (3) subclause + main clause + main clause (the third pattern comprises nine kinds of pattern structure), (4) subclause + subclause + main cluse (the fourth pattern comprises  two  kinds  of  pattern  structure),  (5)  subcluse  +  main  clause  +  subclause  + subclause (the fifth pattern comprises two kinds of pattern structure), (6) main clause + main clause + subclause + subclause (the sixth pattern comprises three kinds of pattern structure), (7) main clause + main clause + main clause + subclause ( the seventh pattern comprises only one kind of pattern structure). The  meaning  relations  between  one  clause  and  another  were  of  great  variety, depending on the number of clauses. They include (1) addition and time, content, purpose, cause, (2) order and effect, purpose, time, (3) contrast and time, cause, content, (4) contrast and time, cause, content, (5) cause and addition, contrast, (6) content and contrast, addition, (7) purpose/hope and quantification (8) effect and addition, order, (9) condition and choice, addition, (10) concession and addition, (11) restriction and addition, (12) location and addition, (13) addition, purpose, time, cause, condition, non-condition.

Abstract

This research is to know kinds of setences whrch are used by teachers at  Sunday School in reletelling about bible’s characters at Sunday School of GUP “HARVEST” Madiun based on their meaning and their quantity of clauses. The date is setences whrch are spoken then transcripted into 7 kinds of writing at Sunday School. They are namely: (1) they song of herdsmen welcoming the born of Jesus Christ, (2) King Ahab, (3) Micah prophet, (4) Jesus heals his mother in low, (5) sunem’s women, (6) Marta and Maria, and (7) Maria, Jesus mother. The result of analysis. 1. Kind of setences whrch is used based on their meanings, there are 185 setences, then brouped based on the kind of setences seen from the meaning, namely report sentences which are found 121 times. There are 12 imperative setences are found. There are question 25 setences are found, then groupet into 2 kinds of question, namely there are 18 setences in common question and 7 setences rethorical question. There are 27 attentive setences are found.2. Kind of setences based on the number of clauses found 57 complete setences and 40 compound setences, then groupet based on the relation among clauses found 27 equal compaund sentences do note exist. In conclusion, report setences of declarative sentences are the most in use because the research’s characteristic is to report a story at event and complete sentences is more in  uis than compound sentences because the listeners of the research are children. Abstract

This research aims to describe semantic roles of functional elements of sentences with mono-transitive active verbs, sentences with semi-transitive active verbs, and sentences with intransitive active verbs. The results of the study show that (1) semantic roles of sentences with mono-transitive active verbs consist of subject, predicate, object, and adjunct. The subject plays the roles as agent, result, experiencer, instrument, factor, cause, fortune, and possessive. The predicate plays the roles as action, process, and acquisition. The  object plays the roles as  undergoer, goal, number, place and purpose. The adjunct plays the roles as  manner, repetition,  time, suddenness, doubt, state, manner, and participant, (2) semantic roles of sentences with semi-transitive active verbs comprise subject, predicate, complement, and adjunct. The subject plays the roles as experiencer, factor, place, new information, instrument, and agent. The predicate plays the roles as state, process, and action. The complement plays the roles as goal, time, quality, agent, and undergoer. The adjunct plays the roles as purpose, place, time, and suddenness, and (3) semantic roles of sentences with intransitive active verbs include subject, predicate, and adjunct. The subject plays the roles as new information, undergoer, participant, number, cause, agent, factor, experiencer, instrument, and result. The predicate plays the roles as process, state, action, and existence. The adjunct plays the roles as  instrument, purpose, receiver, time, place, manner, and direction.

Abstract

Adverb is one class of words or categories of words that are quite complicated to know and determine their word identities. Therefore, adverb needs to be studied. Adverb as a word class must be distinguished from information as a function of sentences. The researcher discussed a single adverb in basic form at the phrase level. In the phrase level, a single adverb described verbs, adjectives, nouns, numerals, pronouns, adverbs, conjunctions, prepositions, and particles.This study aims to describe single adverb types in Wina Bojonegoro's The Souls Fantasia novel, its syntactic behavior, and its relational meaning.The results of this study are that: (1) single adverb types have 14 types in 70 forms. The seventy forms described verba, adjectiva, noun, pronoun, numeralia, adverb, conjunctions, prepositions, and particles. (2) Seen from the syntactic behavior, a single adverb had a position on the left and to the right of the word described. Some positions on the left and on the right were strong and some others were not strong. (3) Adverb meanings can be seen from the semantic behavior of 28, namely the meaning of intimacy, beginning, continuity, obsolescence, frequency, certainty, possibility, necessity, qualitative, quantitative, limitation, ability, truth, habit, opposition, denial, prohibition, addition, prejudice and frequency, prejudice and limitation, continuity and qualitative, continuity and limitation, obsolescence and qualitative, certainty and limitation, qualitative and frequency, ability and addition, denial and frequency, prohibition and intimacy.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine language deviation at the morphology level in Nyata tabloids and their corrections. This research was qualitative descriptive research with data in the form of monomorphic and polymorphic words from Nyata tabloids published in February 2019. The results of this research were language deviations at morphology level included (1) the removal of affixes in the form of prefix removal and confix removal, (2) the replacement of morph that consisted of prefix and confix, and the abbreviated morph.
